Accept An Admission Offer

Colleges often allow you to accept your offer of admission online through the college's website. That is where you will also pay your enrollment deposit, if you have to pay one. The deposit holds your place in the school's upcoming class. You can also choose to accept your admission by mail, using a form provided by the college. Any method you choose has to be completed in a timely manner, as admission offers have a deadline.


Instructions








1. Print out the admissions acceptance form from the college's website. Fill it out, and submit payment for your enrollment deposit, if you are required to pay one when you mail the admissions acceptance form to the college. Some colleges have other ways of accepting your admissions by mail. Purdue University, for example, requires only that you send in your deposit with a note stating your name and birth date.








2. Log into your student account on the college's website, using the information provided in your acceptance letter. You may have been assigned a username and password or a website to go to -- to set up your student account. Accept the offer of admission once you have set up your account and logged in. You can typically find instructions for navigating your school's particular admissions acceptance system on the school's website and in your offer packet.


3. Make your decision before the deadline. You may only have a couple of weeks from the date of your acceptance to make a decision. For example, California State University, Fullerton gives admitted students 14 days from the date printed on their admission letters to accept or decline their offers of admission.

History

Learn To Spell In A Short Time

Whether you want to improve your spelling skills to advance in your career or to win an upcoming spelling bee, maintaining focus is essential. 1. Eliminate barriers to spelling success. Identify problems to avoid negativity and increas motivation. Break negative study habits such as rushing through word lists and failing to copy words correctly. Make Weather Instruments For K5

Measuring aspects of the weather is a fun and exciting way to teach children about scientific tools, temperature, precipitation, and wind. By using items available around the house or at a supermarket, kids can create their own weather instruments to gauge temperature, rainfall, and wind direction. Building and using these instruments will help them feel confident in their own abilities to create ways to investigate the world around them.


Instructions


1. Make a thermometer. A thermometer measures the temperature of the air. To create a thermometer, pour 1/8 cup of rubbing alcohol and 1/8 cup of water into a plastic bottle. Select a color of food coloring, and squeeze three to four drops into the bottle. Insert a clear straw into the bottle, keeping it one inch above the bottom of the bottle. Use an oil-based clay to close up the top of the bottle, while securing the straw in place at the same time. When the temperature rises, the colored mixture will rise up inside the straw. When the temperature lowers, the mixture will go back down.








2. Make a rain gauge. A rain gauge measures how much rainfall there is in a particular area. Locate an area along a fence post that is out in the open. Nail a piece of wood to the fence post so that it rests parallel to the ground. Place a glass beaker onto the piece of wood, securing it to the fence by tying it down with a piece of yarn. Mark the side of the beaker using a waterproof marker every 1/4 inch. Once the rain falls, it will fill the beaker, marking how much rain has fallen during a period of time.








3. Make a weather vane. A weather vane measures which way the wind is blowing. Using a ruler, draw perpendicular lines on two different paper plates. On one plate, write the cardinal direction at each point draw: "N" for North, "E" for East, "S" for South, and "W" for West. Push a pencil into the middle of the plate. On the other plate, push a piece of oil-based clay into the middle of the plate. Surround the clay with a few stones, then place the first plate on top of the second. Tape them together. Stick a blunt pencil down into the plates, eraser side up, making sure that it is secure in the clay. Using scissors, cut into each end of a plastic straw. Use the scissors to cut out two triangles from construction paper, and slide one into each end of the straw. Attach the middle of the straw to the eraser of the pencil using a straight pin. Use a compass to determine which way North is, and face the place so that the "N" is facing North. When the wind blows, it will face the direction in which it is blowing.

Sum Up A Gpa

A high GPA can help land you that dream job.


One of the ultimate goals for a person who graduates college is to get a good job and, ultimately, career in the field that she studied. One of the parameters that human resource personnel gauge when reviewing potential job candidates is the grade-point average (GPA) the applicant attained while attending college. Applicants with higher GPAs tend to get interviews more often than those with low GPAs. Summing up a student's GPA is as simple as counting 1, 2, 3, 4.


Instructions








1. Understand what the letter grade means. In general, students are given letter grades for the classes they take while in school. These letter grades are generally A, B, C, D and F. The F grade is used if a student has failed a class (some Midwestern states, such as Michigan, use the letter E for failing grades). There are other letter grades that are handed out as well, depending on the institution, such as "I" if the student did not attend enough of the class for it to be considered complete. It carries the same weight as a grade of F. A grade of A is considered exceptional; a B is considered above average; C is considered average; and D is considered below average, but passing.








2. Determine the number equivalent for the letter grade. Letter grades are based on a four-point scale. So, a letter grade of A is equivalent to 4.0, a B is equivalent to 3.0, a C is equivalent to 2.0, and a D is equivalent to 1.0. Some grades are further designated with "+" and "-" -- for example, B+. The "+" letter grades are listed as .3 higher than an even grade, so a B+ would be equivalent to a grade point of 3.3. The "-" letter grades are listed as .3 lower than an even grade, so a B- would be equivalent to a grade point of 2.7.


3. Figure your current GPA. Using a calculator, take the number equivalent of the grades you received for all of your classes in the current term and add them together, then divide by the total number of classes taken. For example, if you took five classes and received an A (4.0), A- (3.7), two B's (3.0) and a C+ (2.3), your total for those five grades would be 16. Divide that number by the total classes taken -- five -- and you would have a GPA of 3.2.


4. Determine your cumulative GPA -- the average of the grades you received during your college career. The process is the same: Determine the number equivalent for all of the grades you received and divide them by the total number of classes you received grades in (this includes any failing or incomplete grades, which would have no number value but would count as a taken class). For example, if you had taken 37 classes and had a total grade value of 122, your cumulative GPA would be 3.3, which works out to be a B+ average.

Pell Grant Laws

Later renamed for the late U.S. Senator and education advocate Claiborne Pell, the Basic Educational Opportunity Grant legislation was enacted by Congress as part of the Higher Education Act of 1965. Pell Grants provide funding for low-income students attending institutions of higher learning. Specific laws, rules and regulations apply for Pell Grant eligibility. The first step in applying for a Pell Grant is completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA.


Eligibility


Pell Grant applicants must be U.S. citizens or hold legal permanent resident status, with a valid Social Security number. Males between the ages of 18 to 25 must register for the Selective Service. Applicants must be high school graduates or have General Equivalency Degrees (GEDs). Students must demonstrate financial need through the information supplied on the FAFSA. With the exception of those enrolled in the federal Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant Program, Pell Grant recipients cannot have already earned a bachelor's degree.


Criminal Offenses








By law, students convicted under state or federal law for the sale or possession of controlled substances while receiving a Pell Grant lose federal student aid eligibility. Students may also have to return grant funds received during an ineligible period. Those losing this eligibility may regain it under U.S. Department of Education policies by passing two unannounced tests for drugs. These tests must be conducted by certified substance abuse or rehabilitation programs complying with U.S. Department of Education regulations. Students completing prison sentences for sexual offenses and subject to "involuntary civil commitment" after release cannot receive Pell Grants.


Student Loan Defaults


As a grant, Pell funding does not require repayment, unlike a loan. However, students defaulting on federal student loans are ineligible for Pell Grants. Certification that no such default exists is part of the federal student aid application.


FAFSA Special Circumstances


By law, a family has the primary responsibility to pay post-secondary tuition and other expenses for dependent students. The FAFSA information provided on family income and assets determines the Expected Family Contribution, a formula legislated by Congress. In special circumstances, dependent students may be able to submit the form without including parental financial information, These circumstances include parental incarceration, students leaving the family home because of an abusive situations, or students who do not know the location of their parents and have no contact information for them.

2. Take a manila folder and open it up. Making this game in a folder will last longer than using paper.


3. Draw 2 pictures side by side at the bottom and 2 pictures side by side at the top of the game. These pictures can be anything: a shape, a picture from a magazine or a picture of your preschooler.


4. Proceed from bottom to top, drawing 6 to 8 simple circles. You can also draw shapes.


5. Use different colors inside the circles. Remember to use colors that your child already knows and doesn't know. You want to build on her current knowledge.


6. Find two objects to use as game pieces. You can make these or find them in your child's room. For example, use erasers, old buttons or small pieces of fabric.


7. Locate dice or something that will determine the number of spaces you and your child will move. You can also make cards with both the written number and dots that correspond to the number written to determine the amount of spaces to move.

1. Begin by determining your semester's income or available cash. Your college student budget will be determined primarily by this number. Include parental contributions, student earnings and any other sources of income.


2. Determine what will be included in your expenses each semester. Will the college student budget include rent, food, school supplies and books, or just personal needs and incidentals? Depending on the student's situation (on-campus or off, for example) and parental contributions (some parents pay all or some of students' housing costs) the budget categories will vary.


3. Determine the set expenses or bills for the college student budget. These are the categories that remain constant, such as car insurance, tuition payment plan agreements, etc. Include some money each month for an "emergency fund" for unforeseen necessities or emergencies.


4. Add to the college student budget all variable expenses--entertainment, snacks, incidentals, and other such expense categories.


5. Balance the college student budget. To make a zero-based budget, make sure that the income exactly matches the budgeted expenses for each month and each semester of college.

Individuals seeking a career in the healthcare field often begin in entry-level positions such as that of a certified nurse assistant (CNA). Serving as a CNA makes you responsible for providing a majority of the personal care and assistance for patients who need help with daily living tasks. With the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicting a 19 percent increase in job openings for CNAs between 2008 and 2018, almost anyone can join this entry-level profession. Doing so requires certification or a license which you can get assistance in getting if you know how.


Instructions


1. Contact your state licensing board. Speak to a representative from the nursing licensing board in your state to learn if the agency certifies nurse aides or if a different state agency handles this. For example, the department of health and environment oversees CNA licensing in the state of Kansas. Call or email the agency that does oversee CNAs to ask questions about the licensing process or qualifications to become a CNA. Get referrals for training classes and programs near you as well as any funding that may cover a portion or all of the cost of the nurse assistant training.








2. Apply for financial help. Visit the workforce center or state employment agency in your community to learn what assistance they can provide financially to help you get a CNA license. The Workforce Investment Act (WIA) provides funds for individuals who need short-term training to enter a career that’s in high demand. Often CNA courses qualify for this funding, making it possible for you to get your certification without paying a dime. Additional funds may also be available through federal or state economic stimulus packages that focus on helping dislocated workers find jobs.


3. Seek out academic help. Find out if your school employs a tutor that specializes in helping nursing and other healthcare career students. Review topics covered in your CNA class and study for upcoming exams. If no tutor exists, stay after class and ask your instructor any questions you have about the material being covered. Form a study group of other students in your CNA class to review the information and prepare for the CNA licensing exam once the training program is finished.


4. Find an employer. Contact local nursing homes, hospitals and other healthcare facilities in your community to learn if any of these employers would sponsor you to take CNA training. Some employers choose to pay for the cost of the training if a CNA commits to working for them for a specific time period after training is complete.

Western Exchange Schools

Getting a WUE place represents a fee reduction of 150 percent.


The Western Undergraduate Exchange program is run by the Western Interstate Commission for Higher education. The program allows students that are normally a resident in any of the WICHE states to enroll in two and four-year college courses at institutions in another WICHE state at reduced tuition costs. There is a huge demand for WUE places, and students are advised to apply early to the institutions of their choice.


WICHE States








The WICHE states are Alaska; Arizona; California; Colorado; Hawaii; Idaho; Montana; Nevada; New Mexico; North Dakota; Oregon; South Dakota; Utah; Washington; and Wyoming. A list of all the two-year and four-year colleges and universities by state that are included in the program is available at the WUE website. Two-year diploma or certificate courses are offered at community colleges and the four-year degree courses at universities. According to WICHE, as of 2011, some 145 institutions participate in the program. WICHE also points out that nearly all undergraduate fields of study are available under the WUE program. Some institutions offer all courses on a first-come, first-served basis, and others only offer certain courses to WUE students.








Applications


Students should apply directly to the WUE college or university of their choice. The application should show clearly that you are a WUE student. WICHE advises that candidates use a hard-copy application form when possible, as it is easier to make it clear that you are applying for WUE. If you use an online application form, click the WUE box on the form. If you cannot find one, phone the school admissions office and ask how you apply for the discounted tuition rate.


Eligibility


Residency within a WICHE state does not automatically guarantee a WUE award. The WICHE website advises students qualifying for WUE to apply at the earliest possible date because some of the universities and colleges limit the number of WUE places they award annually. Institutions might also apply criteria such as SAT and GPA scores. The WICHE does not regulate selection criteria for WUE, which is why students should approach the institution for specific information.


Savings


According to WICHE, to calculate the savings you will make, multiply the resident tuition fee of the college or university by 1.5. This represents a reduced tuition level at 150 percent of the normal resident tuition fee. For example, a student nonresident in Oregon attending the University of Oregon pays $25,830 for an undergraduate degree, and the WUE rate is $11,655. 1. Contact the Office of Financial Affairs at the university to which you are applying. Ask the financial aid officer for a general scholarship application or if each school or college has its own application process (there may be both). 2. Visit finaid.org to find out whether you qualify for any scholarships based on your interests, abilities, gender, religion, ethnicity, medical history or veteran status. Scholarships exist for qualifications as diverse as left-handed students, persons of short or tall stature, American Baptist women and cancer survivors.


3. Complete the application materials, including required essays. These essays generally focus on the applicant's specific qualifications, past achievements and goals for the future. For example, the High Plains Division of the American Cancer Society offers a scholarship for students who survived cancer during childhood. The essay portion of this application directs applicants to discuss their goals, their life experience and their history of involvement with the cancer community. Lower The Cost Of Student Loans

Paying for a higher education can be tough, but not having the financial resources to pay off private and federal loans after college can be even tougher. If you are faced with debt upon your college graduation due to lack of income, an Income-Based Repayment (IBR) plan from the federal government can lower your monthly student loan payments. The IBR plan weighs a student's current income with the total debt and restructures the monthly payments accordingly.








Instructions


1. Check your credit report to see your outstanding student debt. Visit FreeCreditReport.com or AnnualCreditReport.com to get a free copy of your credit report. Add up your federal loans and divide that number by how many payments you have left to obtain your total monthly payment.


2. Obtain pay stubs, monthly statements, W-2 receipts and tax returns. If you are seeking a new repayment plan from a federal loan counselor, you will need documents to prove your current income.


3. Check if you are eligible for the Income-Based Repayment (IBR) plan. Visit the IBR plan website (studentaid.ed.gov) to calculate monthly payments if you qualify. For example, if your yearly income is $50,000 and you have a spouse and two children, your monthly payment under the new IBR plan is $212.


4. Call the Federal Student Aid Information Center at 800-4-FED-AID to find out who holds your student loans. Once you discover which financial institution that is, call to apply for the IBR over the phone, or go to their office to apply in person.

Lowincome Education Grants

Students in low-income schools can receive help with their educations with federal grants.


Improving schools, sending students to college and recruiting teachers are all obstacles made harder by low-income status. So the federal government uses grants as a way to help student performance and foster education. The U.S. Department of Education administers several grants for schools, teachers and students.


Title I Grants


Schools with large numbers of students from low-income families can use Title I grants to offer them individual help. The program is dubbed Title I because Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act legally provides for it. Congress in 2008 appropriated almost $14 billion for the program. Schools can use the grant money to help failing students or the most at-risk students. Schools with 40 percent or more of their students qualifying as low-income can use Title I funding to create school-wide programs. The intention of the program is to bring under-performing students up to state standards.


Learning Center Grants


Outside of regular school hours, education agencies and other community groups can use federal grant funding to pay for academic programs for low-income students. Academic assistance and other educational programs that involve both students and their families can be eligible for funding through the 21st Century Community Learning Center program. Centers' activities must compliment regular school work outside school hours to help struggling students meet state standards. Congress budgeted $1.08 billion for the program in 2008.


Title III Grants


Low-income education grants aren't reserved for K-12 schools. Universities receive grants provided for under Title III of the Higher Education Act. Congress, in the legislation, states many low-income and minority college students are at an academic disadvantage, but schools can't always afford to provide them additional assistance. The federal government in 2011 appropriated $84 million to schools, according to Department of Education estimates, so they could offer assistance to low-income students. Title III funding can pay for courses and programs tailored to low-income students, new facilities and faculty development, among other uses.


Pell Grants


Students unable to afford college could be eligible for Federal Pell Grants. The program in the 2010 and 2011 school year awarded up to $5,550 -- or an average of $3,865 -- to undergraduate students. Pell is one of several Department of Education college grants, but with $32.3 billion in available funding in 2011, it is the department's largest college grant. Information from students' Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) determines how in-need students are of assistance, thus how much they are eligible for.


TEACH Grants


While many Department of Education grants intend to send low-income students to college, one program intends to send students to low-income schools. TEACH Grants, short for Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education, provide $4,000 per school year to students majoring in education. One of the core requirements for the program is grant recipients must agree to teach for at least four years in a low-income school after they graduate. Grant recipients must also teach high-need subjects, such as math, science or special education.

Avoid these common mistakes when studying for the GMAT.


The graduate management admission test, GMAT, is used by nearly 1,900 graduate business schools around the world to help determine which students should be admitted, according to GMAT's official website. Prospective students often prepare for the GMAT by setting a up a schedule that includes taking practice tests, meeting with study groups or even taking GMAT preparation courses. Knowing some of the most common mistakes made while taking the GMAT could give you a better understand of what to expect.


Pace








The GMAT is a timed test, so practice tests should be taken with the same time limits. Some students spend a long time on difficult questions, leaving them with insufficient time to work on problems that they are more likely to correctly answer. Similarly, breezing through the questions that look easy to save time for harder problems is a good way to make careless errors. Try to work methodically. A time limit for each type of question should be decided on before the final test date.


Calculations


Test takers often make errors when performing calculations that would be easy in an untimed, stress-free setting. To get around this, test takers should slow themselves down by writing every step. This will reduce the number of careless errors and save time when checking over the problem. Test takers who find that they are working through problems in the practice tests too slowly when they write everything down should devote more practice time to the quantitative section instead of skipping steps.


Focus








While it feels good to get something right, test preparation should focus on shoring up weaknesses. Use practice tests to determine weak points and then focus on those types of problems until the next scheduled practice test. This should be done not only by looking at what types of problems were answered incorrectly, but by figuring out exactly why the answer was wrong: Was it a sloppy mistake or a serious misunderstanding? As you get better at one type of problem, the schedule can then shift to other problems.


Overstudy


Like other admissions tests, studying for the GMAT is a long process, and some test takers get burnt out. Practice tests should not be taken too often, and should not be the primary studying tool. Looking at thousands of question with minimal understanding won't help as much as looking at a few hundred but understanding them deeply. Take a break right before the test: cramming the night before and showing up tired may be the easiest way to lower your score.

Technical schools and colleges are very important parts of the educational system in America. Their main objective is to train and prepare talented students for a wide variety of careers outside of academia. Similar to community colleges, they generally do not offer degrees above the Associate's level. Write a School Proposal


1. Research your intended school. Before you begin your proposal, scour your community, city and even county for research materials. When you start writing you should be able to answer the following questions: What other technical schools are in your area? How and why is yours different? What is the purpose of your school? What ideas do you have for proposed programs and degree plans?


2. Write a school proposal or business plan. Just like any other business venture, you need a map of where you're going before you begin. Your business plan will have several distinct parts: Summary (what will the plan entail), School Summary (what is the purpose and mission of your school?), Market Analysis (Who are your competitors? How is your school different?), Management & Operational Plan (Where will you host your students? Who will manage the financial and academic pursuits of the school?), Campus Plan (Details about your campus), Financial Plan (How will the school earn money? Will it be a for-profit or nonprofit institution?), Supporting Documents (anything that is not covered above).


3. Get money for your school. Take your business plan to banks, credit unions, private investors or benefactors and even the government to attempt to secure funds for your school. Banks and credit unions will probably provide the bulk of your funding, but some nonprofits, individuals and government loans or grants may also be able to provide assistance. IFF Loans are a great source of funding for non-profit schools. If you can prove that your school will serve low-income communities, you may be eligible for the CDFI (Community Development Financial Institutions) Fund loan from the U.S. Treasury Department.


Start Your Technical School


4. Find out about regulations. The federal government, along with local governments, regulates degree or certificate-granting schools of all kind, so be sure to check with the U.S. Department of Education and your state's education agency to find out about compliance.


5. Design your programs. Depending on what degrees and certificates you want to offer, you will need to structure your student graduation plans. Some certificates require a certain number of classroom hours, while most degree plans require a certain number of credits. Decide how many hours or credits students will need to graduate and which courses will be offered each quarter, semester and school year.


6. Hire faculty and staff. The professors, deans, counselors and board members that serve your school will double as the face of the school, at least until students begin graduating. Hire talented, motivated and experienced personnel. The minimum staff should include a President, Academic Dean, Academic Counselors/Advisors, Financial Aid representatives and Recruiters/Admissions Personnel. If your school will be a nonprofit, also consider appointing a Board of Directors to make decisions about the school and help to raise money.


7. Work toward academic accreditation. Two main organizations grant accreditation to technical schools: ACCSC (Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges) and ACICS (Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools). Both of those accrediting bodies require that you are in federal and local compliance, that you are successfully preparing students for their career and that you have operated for at least two years. Because you cannot be accredited before you graduate at least one student, it is not a goal that you can accomplish immediately.

Learn To Sing In Tune







The biggest difficulty with learning to sing in tune is that if you do not have a good sense of pitch, you might not know when you aren't in tune. The solution is to start off slowly, singing one pitch at a time and trying to match a recorded pitch as perfectly as possible. Here are the steps to learning sing in tune.


Instructions


1. Play a single note on a synthesizer or piano. Try to sing that pitch.








2. Listen for a beat frequency. If you are completely in tune with the note, your voice and the tone together will combine into one single tone. If you are slightly too high or too low in pitch, you will hear a beat frequency--a slight wavering in the pitch. Raise or lower your tone slightly until the beat frequency slows and stops.


3. Repeat the same step with scales. Use programmed midi scales (see Resources below), or recruit a friend who plays keyboards. Start by singing along with simple major scales.


4. Progress to singing along to more difficult things. Practice minor scales and arpeggios.


5. Record yourself singing along to songs you enjoy. By this point, you should have a decent sense of pitch, so you should be able to listen to your singing and see how close you are to correct pitch.

View Your Northeastern University Grades Online

Check your grades with the help of a working Internet connection and a myNEU account.








Grades are the tangible measurements of a student's success while attending universities such as Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. While the chaos and rush of students crowding around a sheet of paper at the end of the school year signifies the posting of final grades, you can avoid the scene altogether from the comforts of your home. The Internet allows students to check their final grades online and even monitor individual assignment grades.








Instructions


1. Log into your Northeastern University "myNEU" account using your username and password on the online student login website (see Resources). If you do not have a myNEU account, activate your account by following the link below the "Login" button that says 'How do I get a myNEU username and password?' Once you have a username and password, enter it and click "Login" to access your account.


2. Locate the "View Grades" tab located on the left side of the webpage. Choose either the spring, fall or summer semester and the year. Click "Continue" to pull up your grades for the selected semester. Give your professors about two weeks after a final examination for grades to be posted online.


3. Log on to the Northeastern University Blackboard Online website (see Resources) for classes taken online or as part of a hybrid (partial online and partial class time) course. Click on the "My Grades" link on the left side of the course menu.

Compare Two Loans

Whenever a borrower seeks a new loan, from a credit card to a mortgage, he must look at the loan's APR (annual percentage rate) to determine the overall cost of the loan. Comparing APR's is a simple way to judge between two loans and determine which one is cheaper. In addition, the borrower should look at the terms of the loan to see which one better meets his needs.








Instructions








1. Request a Truth in Lending Statement from both lenders. A Truth in Lending Statement lists the APR, loan amount, interest expense, and terms of the loan. The law requires lenders to give you this statement and to calculate the APR in the same manner. The APR is a numerical representation of the entire cost of the loan for a year, including fees and monthly interest rate.


2. Note which loan has the smaller percentage rate for its APR. This is the cheaper loan. If the other loan has a lower monthly interest rate, you are paying higher fees to get this rate, and that does not make it a better option.


3. Look through the Truth in Lending statement to see the monthly payment on the loan and the term (length of the loan). Is the monthly payment in line with what you can pay? The longer the term, the lower the monthly payment, but also the more interest you'll pay over the life of the loan.


4. Choose the loan with the lowest overall fees that best matches your payment needs. Sometimes it is worth paying more for a lower payment that does not stretch your budget.

Deal With A Bad Yearbook Picture







The day has come for yearbook pictures and although you may have spent a lot of time prepping for your portrait, the picture turned out awful. When dealing with a bad yearbook picture, you do have some options.


Instructions








1. Look at the yearbook picture and decide what you don't like about it. Think about whether the picture is not good because of how you look, the background, or if it was the fault of the photographer. If the quality is not good, do not blame yourself.


2. Beg and plead. You may be able to get your picture changed if you can have another taken before the yearbook goes to print. Ask the school principal or yearbook advisor so that you have a better chance of getting your new picture.


3. Call the portrait studio or photographer to see if they can re-shoot your portrait session. This is especially important if you notice that the quality of the photograph is poor. If you are just unhappy with blemishes, ask if the photographer can Photoshop your pimples out.


4. Forget about how bad your picture is. If it is too late to change your yearbook picture, just deal with the situation and remember that it could be worse. Most likely, the picture will be looked at a lot when the yearbooks are handed out, but after that, it will just sit in another book pile.


5. Remember that your yearbook picture will not be viewed by all people as being bad. Everyone has different opinions and some of your friends may actually like your yearbook picture.

What Degrees Do You Need To Become A Teacher

Degrees Other Than Education


Because of teacher shortages, most states have developed alternative ways for people to enter the teaching field who have a degree in other areas. The most helpful degrees to achieve this are those in psychology, biology, math, history and pre-law. Candidates will have to pass a subject area teacher exam and may have to earn college credit in specified Education classes.


Considerations


It is best to go through a school of education and complete the prescribed program of study. There are many valuable courses in classroom management and child psychology that are invaluable to the teacher. There is also the very important practice teacher program in which a prospective candidate works in a school, supervised by the regular teacher, while performing all the teaching duties. This experience gives great insight into what the classroom experience will be like.


Time Frame


Most education degrees take at least 4 years to earn. Because of the nature of subject specialization and the hours required of student teachers, it could take 5 years. If a person has become a teacher through alternative means, he or she will have to earn approximately 6 hours of additional college credit every 5 years.

Calculus is the discipline of mathematics that is primarily taught as the highest-level math course in high school and is a vital prerequisite for colleges. Unique Restaurants In Atlanta

Situated south of the Chattahoochee River in Georgia is Atlanta, the state's capital and one of its major cultural centers. Atlanta is home to major attractions such as the historic Fox Theater and Piedmont Park, the city's largest park and the home of festivals such as the annual Atlanta Dogwood Festival. Visitors to the city will find a variety of unique, locally owned restaurants that can't be found anywhere else.


Tierra


Tierra is a Caribbean and Latin American bistro situated on Piedmont Ave in Atlanta. Tierra is in a bright orange building with a large neon side. The interior contains warm earth colors, large windows and tables topped with crisp white table cloths. As of 2010, it is the only Latin American and Caribbean restaurant in Atlanta. Tierra offers a seasonal menu of changing traditional dishes, with entree items such as grilled trout served with chorizo, sweet pepper sauce and polenta, and seared scallops, prepared with Caribbean curry and egg linguini. Tierra hosts a full bar, and is open for dinner Tuesday to Saturday.

Dante's Down the Hatch


Dante's Down the Hatch is a jazz club and fondue restaurant located in Atlanta's Buckhead neighborhood. The restaurant boasts 13 levels, all contained within an elaborate model ship made up of private cabins and nooks. The interior is filled with antiques and pirate memorabilia, as well as numerous taxidermy crocodiles.
