Write a Student Case Brief








Law students read a large volume of cases during law school and use a note-taking system in which cases are written in short, concise "briefs" in order to distinguish cases and recall the pertinent facts of each. A good case brief includes all of the relevant factual information and also details the legal reasoning used by the court in making its decision. A case brief notebook will allow the law student to distinguish between the cases and note times when decisions contradict one another. Briefs can also be useful to see the growth of the law and the various procedural and legal changes along the way.


Instructions


1. Note the facts of the case at the top of the brief. The facts are usually outlined at the beginning of a case and describe all the relevant facts the court used in determining the outcome. Be aware that some new facts omitted in the majority opinion may appear in the dissenting opinion, so read the dissent if there is one before filling out the facts section.


2. Write the procedural posture of the case. Most cases in the casebook will be appellate-level cases, which means they have been through one or more courts before arriving at the court writing the opinion. The procedural posture refers to the courts that the case has been in and the decisions in those courts. Pay particular attention to whether intermediate courts of appeal affirm or reverse trial court rulings.








3. State the holding of the case, which is the ruling that the court makes. Most rulings will be simple affirmations or reversals of the intermediary appellate court or trial court's decision. Some rulings may be more complex and involve partial affirmations and partial reversals.


4. Detail the reasoning the court used to reach its decision. State the rule the court decided to apply, the policy justifications behind the rule and the way in which the court applied the rule to the facts case. If the case you are reading is analogous to another case or was distinguished from another case, be sure to note the various similarities and differences between the cited cases.


5. Explain briefly any concurring or dissenting opinions included with the case. These opinions either disagree with the holding of the majority and seek to apply a wholly different rule (dissenting) or agree with the court's outcome but argue that the rule should have been applied in a different way (concurring). Though the majority decision is the law, the dissenting and concurring opinions can give insight as to the nature of the rule and its broader applications.


6. Note any dicta, which refer to comments made by the court that illustrate the way it would apply the rule to different factual situations. While dicta do not have any binding authority over lower courts, they do give insight into the way the court understands and interprets the rule.

One of the main reasons for joining a service sorority is the community service these groups provide. Service sororities do not focus on a social aspect and do not perform initiation traditions. Service sororities focus on providing help and service to their school and community. By participating in blood drives, Habitat for Humanity, fundraisers and various other philanthropic efforts, those in service sororities gain experience in organization, time management, planning and philanthropy.


Leadership








One of the greatest skills you'll learn by being in a service sorority is leadership. Being able to take on a role as a leader will provide experience that can help you in the professional world after college. Many of the organizations that service sororities work for may also be able to help you find a job. Overcome An Aversion

Overcome an aversion by taking small steps.


Being human means having choices. Choosing to like or not like virtually anything is up to you. Having aversions to things or places that scare you, like dark streets after midnight, is probably smart. But what if your aversion is to the dentist, sex, leafy greens, the telephone or people in your life? At some point, you're going to realize that you can't stand up and defend all of your aversions because of the simple fact that they are holding you back or compromising your health and happiness. Overcoming an aversion means looking at it from a different angle.


Instructions








1. Open a notebook. Write down your aversion in capital letters at the top of the first page. You don't normally approach aversion from a logical standpoint. An aversion is usually a visceral experience. Your gut is coaxing you on a primal level to avoid a person or a situation. You build up scenarios in your head making the aversion appear even more threatening than it really is. The first step to overcoming your aversion is to confront it.








2. Make a detailed list of everything about your aversion that bothers you. Don't hide from the truth. Overcoming an aversion means doing some detective work. Spend a little time plumbing your past for clues as to why you developed this aversion. Exposing the roots of your aversion is a necessary step in helping you overcome it. In addition, record how your aversion makes you feel -- whether it be disgust, fear or resentment. Once you have unmasked all of the history and the emotions associated with your aversion, you'll have a better chance of ruling it rather than letting it rule you.


3. Commit to one actionable step you can take today in order to overcome your aversion. It's not necessary and probably unwise to believe that you can overcome an aversion instantly. You've spent a long time nursing your grievance or fear. If you rush things, you'll only add more pressure to yourself and add more negativity to an already volatile situation. Taking one step is a positive action that will empower you. With a little "win" under your belt, you'll feel more inclined to take another step toward overcoming your aversion.


4. Reward yourself after each step you take to overcome an aversion. By taking steps to overcome an aversion, you are in the process of replacing negativity with positivity. By celebrating your accomplishments, you're reinforcing the positive aspects that accompany overcoming an aversion. Because you've already made the decision to overcome something that is holding you back from enjoying life fully, you should take pleasure in achieving each successful step toward overcoming an aversion.

Apply For A Beauty School Grant

The art of beauty.


Are you looking to pursue your dream of becoming a hairdresser or cosmetologist? While chasing your dream, you also need to take into consideration that it can cost several thousand dollars to attend an accredited beauty school. 4. Go to the beauty school and pick up your grant application packet and fill out all of the forms. You will also have to fill out two salon assessment forms and have them signed, this information must be completed before you can apply.


5. Make copies of your birth certificate, drivers license, pay stubs, household income sources, bank account statements, proof of assets, high school diploma or GED equivalency and social security card.


6. Return the completed grant application packet along with the required copies to the beauty school.








7. Await the phone call for the financial aid officer to say that they have processed your application.


8. Once your application has been approved, the financial aid officer will tell you how much your grant is worth. At this time you can immediately begin to sign up for classes to begin your career.

The cost of a college education continues to increase.


According to the College Board, the average cost of a four-year college education increased more than 51 percent between 1999 and 2009. In 2009 the average annual cost of room, board and tuition at a private four-year university was about $35,000, and a public four-year university cost about $15,000. A 529 plan can be an effective way to save for a college education for a child, grandchild or even the child of a close friend. Once someone has opened a 529 plan, both the contributions and the earnings can grow tax-free, and the beneficiary can use the money for educational expenses.








Instructions


1. Decide which state in which to open a 529 account. The benefits of opening a 529 account in your home state include possible state tax deductions for contributions, state tax-deferred earnings and state tax-free withdrawals. Some people choose to contribute to 529 plans located in other states. Advantages of this can include lower initial contributions, higher maximum total contributions and different investment options.


2. Name a beneficiary for your 529 account. A beneficiary can be any United States citizen. There are no age restrictions on 529 plans and one person can be named the beneficiary of several different plans. It is even possible to open a 529 account and name yourself as the beneficiary. Some people choose to do this before having children and then transfer the account to a child's name later.


3. Choose an investment plan. Possible options include an age-based plan, equity options, fixed income options and blended options. Age-based plans automatically adjust the balance of riskier and more conservative investments as the beneficiary ages or gets closer to using the money. Equity, fixed income and bond options are each focused on stocks and bonds to varying degrees.


4. Make regular contributions to assure the beneficiary will have the money he or she needs. Some people choose to set up automatic contributions to their 529 plan so they do not need to remember to contribute.

Effective Teaching Tips For College

Teaching college is much different from even teaching high school students. Your students are not there because they have to be. They are there because they want to learn. Further, your students, even when they are just a year out of high school, are in a much more adult environment than they were a year before. While the basics of teaching still apply, there are some things to consider before you start lecturing.


Respect


It is even more important to be mindful of respecting your students in a college classroom atmosphere. Remember that you aren't dealing with children. These are young adults, motivated by a love of knowledge and a desire to better themselves. Treating your students with the proper respect is a fundamental way to motivate them to achieve.


Connecting


Your students will be able to understand new material much better if you are able to connect it to something that they already understand. Whether referring to things commonly taught in high school math class or using popular culture references to hammer home the allegories of Shakespeare, connecting new knowledge to old is a powerful teaching tool for the college level.


Interest


Getting your students interested motivates them to want to learn more. Remember that your students are there because they want to learn. They are motivated to acquire new knowledge. Find ways to generate interest in the material, even if it's a rather dry textbook. When possible, select texts that you are excited about. Your students will notice this and it will engage them as well.








Feedback


Some college students accept feedback well, while others do not. Regardless of a student's attitude toward feedback in general, providing good feedback is one of the most important parts of teaching at the college level. Use assessments that engage the student's knowledge and understanding of the material. This allows you to tailor your feedback to him, rather than providing generic criticism.


Challenge


Challenging your students shows them respect and gives them incentive to perform. It is easy to blow off a class if the material does not seem challenging. Give your students the benefit of the doubt. Assume that they can and will understand advanced and challenging material if presented in the right way.








Availability


Make yourself available to your students. Particularly when teaching large lecture classes on a tight schedule, not all the information can come across. Maintain regular office hours, and give your students email. It is important that you allow for open, two-way communication. This will enrich both you and the students.

CPT stands for Current Procedural Terminology; they're the codes used to describe medical procedures, services and information about a patient. CPT for medical procedures is a standardized language within the medical arena. The assigned codes are used for reimbursement purposes, research, instruction and clinical care.


Significance

CPT codes for medical procedures are required to abide by all federal and legal regulations, in addition to those put forth by individual insurance agencies and providers. Free, ad-supported accounts let you edit your own website with the Webs site builder, while paid accounts have access to edit the actual HTML of each page and can upload files via an FTP program such as FileZilla. You must have a paid HTML-only Webs account with a paid premium feature package in order to connect to your account via FTP.


Instructions


1. Launch FileZilla.








2. Type "ftp.freewebs.com" in the "Host" box.


3. Type your Webs user name, all in lowercase, in the "Username" box.


4. Type your Webs password in the "Password" box. Remember this field is case-sensitive.








5. Leave "Port" blank. Click "Connect." The files on your Webs account now appear on the right, while the files on your computer are on the left.


6. Drag files from your computer on the left side of the screen over to the folder of your choosing on the right side of the screen. Those files are now accessible on your website.

The Blackboard WebCT system hosts lectures, forums and assignments for online education.


SafeAssign is a feature within the Blackboard online education system that checks for student plagiarism by comparing the text of a SafeAssignment to a database of work. Students who are given a SafeAssignment need to upload text files through the Blackboard system. Faculty can upload electronic papers to SafeAssign for plagiarism checking at any time. The SafeAssign system can handle files with the following formats: DOC, TXT, RTF, HTML and ZIP files that contain any of the supported file types. So documents created with PowerPoint will need to be converted to a compatible format before they can be uploaded to SafeAssign.


Instructions








1. Open the PowerPoint presentation you want to upload to SafeAssign. Since the standard PowerPoint format is not recognized by SafeAssign, you will need to save the PowerPoint in a compatible file type.


2. Click the "Office" button and click "Save As." In the drop-down menu next to "Save As Type," choose one of the SafeAssign-compatible formats: HTML or RTF from the list. The HTML format is called "Web Page" in PowerPoint, and the RTF format is called "Outline." Click "Save."


3. Log into Blackboard with your username and password. Click the link to the class for which you have the SafeAssignment, if you are a student. Click the link for the SafeAssignment in the class area, then choose "Submit." Browse to the location of the file on your computer, select it and then click "Open." If you are a teacher, choose the "Direct Submit" link from the "Teach View" of your Blackboard screen. Choose the online location for saving the papers, then click "Submit" and browse for the file or files you want to upload. Click "Submit."

Become A Marine Corps Lawyer

A Marine Corps lawyer is called a judge advocate and is assigned to the Office of the Judge Advocate General. Judge advocates represent the Marine Corps and its community. In this program, freshmen and sophomores attend Officer Candidate School at Quantico, Virginia in two six-week summer sessions. Financial assistance is available after successful completion of your first summer of training. Juniors and seniors attend OCS in a ten-week session. Post graduates participate in the Officer Candidate Course, which is a ten-week session at Quantico.


3. Enroll in the PLC-Law Program once you have your four-year college degree. This program enables you to postpone active-duty service until after you complete law school and passed the bar exam.








4. Attend the Basic School at Quantico, Virginia and elect law as your Military Occupational Specialty. Assignments are received prior to completion of the school.


5. Take the Law School Admissions Test, which is a prerequisite for anyone applying to an accredited law school in the United States regardless of military or civilian status. As an officer and judge advocate candidate you must score at least 30 on a 50 point scale or at least 150 on a 180 point scale.


6. Enroll in the Funded Law Education Program once you are accepted into law school. This allows you to attend the law school of your choice with tuition and expenses paid by the Marine Corps. You also receive full pay and allowances during law school.


7. Graduate from law school and sit for the bar exam. Once you pass the bar, you are a Marine Corps judge advocate assigned to the Office of the Judge Advocate General.

After you choose the law enforcement agency you want to work for, look on that agency's website for the general education requirements.


2. Investigate which educational path is the best way for you to get the law enforcement job you want; school is expensive, and you don't want to choose the wrong school or the wrong course of study. Request information from local and online schools that have law enforcement education programs and ask individuals who work or worked in the field. Generally, most police agencies require a high school diploma or a GED, and many are encouraging job applicants to take additional training courses before applying to the police academy. Federal law enforcement agencies require a bachelor's degree and additional departmental training.








3. Register for a college or law enforcement program after you have decided which agency you want to work for. The college or law enforcement program must be accredited. Once you are comfortable in your law enforcement program of study, try to get an internship with the agency you would like to work for. Many law enforcement agencies have short- and long-term internships for law enforcement students. Study hard and stay physically fit, because law enforcement agencies choose the best candidates for open positions. You will be enforcing the law, and you do not want the law breakers to outsmart or outrun you.


4. Apply for an entry level position within the law enforcement agency and, if successful, enroll in a law enforcement education program. Many state and federal law enforcement agencies will provide additional educational training for those interested in working in other departments within the agency. Some law enforcement agencies provide tuition reimbursement for employees.


5. If you are in the military, you can use your military education benefits to enroll in a law enforcement education program. After your term in the military is over, you will have valuable experience and a degree in a field of law enforcement. Nearly everyone uses air conditioning and heaters. However, if they break, it could become a crisis trying to fix them. That's where HVAC--- Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning---schools come into play. The schools teach installers and mechanics fix the sophisticated systems. Preparing for the job shuffle


Oregon has suffered serious hits to its economy over the past few years with the decline of the timber industry, the shock of the "dot-com" bust to the state's huge technology sector and more than 10 percent unemployment since the 2007 to 2008 housing sector collapse. The need for retraining in these turbulent times has led to an increased demand for adult vocational education.


Community Colleges


Oregon has a state system of community and technical colleges. Oregon's Department of Community Colleges and Workforce Development site lists 17 community colleges, with direct links to each college's website. Resident tuition applies not only to Oregonians, but to legal residents (not citizens) of Oregon, Idaho, California, Nevada and Washington. Resident tuition as of 2011 is $76 per credit; and nonresident tuition is $204 per credit.








Franchise Trade Schools








Oregon hosts a long list of commercial franchise trade colleges. Multistate commercial franchise colleges with campuses in Oregon include the University of Phoenix, Anthem College, Everest College, Heald College, Carrington College, Health Career Institute (HCI), ITT Technical Institute and Sanford-Brown College. These schools provide training in very job-specific skills and offer placement assistance, but their course work is seldom transferable to colleges and universities offering degree programs. The University of Oregon system is a good bet for degreed technical specialties, in particular the School of Architecture and Allied Arts and the Lundquist College of Business. Understand The Principles Of Macroeconomics

Macroeconomics, or the study of the larger economy, has become a hot topic. High unemployment, a series of rapid economic boom-and-bust cycles, and declining real household incomes have led to an increase in interest about what's been known as "the dismal science". There's no bigger subject: The global economy produced about $70.2 trillion in goods and services during 2009, according to the U.S. government. The basic principles of macroeconomics aren't difficult to understand, but even professional economics will tell you there's a lot to learn, and they don't know it all.


Instructions


1. Look for unbiased, academic-based sources of information about macroeconomics. Political arguments are very good for raising important issues, but not so great for helping you understand why there are differences of opinion.


2. Start slow. Examine the required fields of study for the College Board's College-Level Examination Program macroeconomics test and its Advanced Placement Economics syllabus. Buy a textbook, browse the online resources, and take the test.


3. Supplement your study with free online resources. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology offers a free course on the principles of macroeconomics. The course, which includes lecture notes, assignments and tests, can be downloaded for free. Other schools may have similar resources.








4. Use an MP3 player, Apple iPhone or iPad to increase your understanding of macroeconomics by searching Apple's iTunes U website for lectures and classes. The iTunes U website has lectures and class materials available from more than 800 schools.








5. Read about economic news, particularly from credible sources that have experience covering the issues, such as Bloomberg, the Financial Times, Wall Street Journal or New York Times. Subscriptions to these publications range from expensive to prohibitive, but you can get some free information from their websites.

While no one but you can determine what your best effort is, by disciplining yourself and holding yourself to the highest standards possible, you can be assured that you are putting all that you need to into your school work. Rather than measuring your achievement against that of others, you can compare your performance to what it has been and what you want it to be in order to succeed.


Instructions


1. Make your weekly schedule every Sunday afternoon or evening in your day planner or calendar. Schedule ample time for studying every evening (or whichever time of day is best for you). Having this study time written into your week will help you see it as a commitment and a set period of time rather than something that can be skipped or shortened. Allow yourself enough time to reasonably finish your work each day, as each person studies at different speeds.


2. Write out your course goals for the semester on the first page of each of your course notebooks. For example, if your goal for your English class is to improve your grammar and writing clarity, make a note of this on the first page of that class notebook. Look at this goal each time you sit down to work on an assignment to remind yourself and encourage yourself to reach it.








3. Find classmates with whom you can study. Schedule meeting times with these classmates in which to go over course material or prepare for tests. Collaborating can help motivate you to do well, and can also increase your knowledge base and inform you of things you might be missing. Choose classmates who are hardworking and set good examples so that you can be as productive as possible.


4. Proofread and revise all of your work. Hand in assignments only when you have checked over them already yourself. Disciplining yourself to edit and proof your writing and homework will help make sure that you are putting your best foot forward and never settling for "good enough." Ask a friend or classmate help you proofread any major written assignments or projects, as it is easy to miss certain types of errors when you are reading your own work.


5. Ask your teacher questions and be a proactive learner. When you are unsure about a point or assignment, raise your hand or ask your teacher to clarify the matter after class. Write down all your assignments at the end of the class period while you are still in the classroom, so that you have the opportunity to ask questions about them if you need to.

File For Economic Hardship With Student Loans

Former college students who experience financial hardship during student loan repayment periods may qualify for payment deferrals. Deferred payment status does not eliminate your debt, but rather freezes the repayment status for a set time. During the deferment period, you do not have to make payments toward your student loan balance. An economic hardship deferral for federal student loans may be granted for one of the following reasons: you have also been granted an economic hardship for a Perkins loan administered by your school; you receive public assistance, such as food stamps or TANF; or you meet low-income eligibility rules.


Instructions


1. Obtain a Direct Loans Economic Hardship Deferment Request form.








2. Complete Section 1, "Borrower Identification." List your name, Social Security Number, address and current phone number.


3. Complete Section 2, "Deferment Request." Include the date of your request and check the box that indicates the reason you seek deferment. Attach proof to your application that supports your reason. For example, if you request economic hardship because you receive public assistance, attach a determination of eligibility letter from the county you receive assistance from or an account statement that shows your assistance payments. If you request deferment for low-income status, review the income chart on page 2 of the form. If you meet income restrictions based on the size of your family, attach proof of your pay stubs for the most recent month.


4. Read the information in Section 3. You must understand the information, certify that the information you provide in the application is correct and authorize your schools or loan servicing company to contact you in the future by phone concerning the repayment of your loan balance.

Get In To One Of The Top Med Schools In The Us

Medical school is not something to take lightly.








If you dream of attending med school in the United States and becoming a medical doctor, then you have a very challenging path ahead of you. This path is made even more challenging if you want to get into one of the top med schools in the country. For all medical school programs, you will need to complete minimum requirements. However, to get into the top schools, you need to go above and beyond the minimum, in addition to performing exceptionally well in all academic areas and exams.

1. Earn top scores in all required coursework. For most medical schools, you need to complete specific courses, including biology, physics, chemistry, organic chemistry, calculus and English, and science courses generally need to be taken with a lab. Getting the highest possible grade in these courses will help you get into a top med school.


2. Attain a top grade point average (GPA). Top med schools are unlikely to look at candidates who do not have at least a 3.5 GPA. The higher your GPA, the more you'll be able to stand out from the crowd. For example, the Duke University School of Medicine, as of 2011, starts its acceptance range at a 3.74 GPA.


3. Complete an MCAT test prep course. This is the exam that will be used to determine if your base of knowledge is impressive enough to handle med school. You want to receive the highest possible score you can, with the highest possible total being 45. According to the Princeton Review, Harvard accepts students with an average total MCAT score of 35, while John Hopkins University accepts students with an average total MCAT score of 34.9.


4. Obtain a position as a research assistant or complete research with a professor. This is an optional requirement for med school, but will go a long way in helping you get in to a top school.


5. Volunteer in the medical field. Hospitals and clinics could always use an extra hand. This hands-on experience can look impressive to the top med schools and can really help set you apart from other applicants.


6. Shadow a physician in a medical field in which you're interested. Shadowing can often be set up through your pre-med advisor. It shows a medical school that you're serious about your career path and have learned all you can before embarking on med school.

Learning a foreign language is an inherently challenging task. Teaching and assessing foreign language students can be equally challenging task for you as a teacher. Each student learns his own way and at his own pace. Testing the level of proficiency of your students is important so you can help them progress. Your students also need to understand their language level so they have realistic expectations on what they need to improve to reach their language goals.


Instructions


1. Create tests with the students' language goals and the class focus in mind. If you are teaching a specialized language course, apply the tests to the objective of the class. For example, if you are teaching a class for English conversation, have most of the tests be centered on conversational skills and pronunciation. If you are teaching a Chinese language newspaper-reading class, use mostly written materials that use newspaper vocabulary and phrases. Your students may need your class only for a specific reason or be supplementing your class with another class for a specific skills set. Try to deliver the type of lesson and assessment that they expect from you.


2. Test every aspect of language acquisition. If you are teaching a language class for general fluency and communication, you will need to test your students' abilities in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Tests are are an excellent way to assess how each individual performs. Students who speak often in class and have little problem with grammar or pronunciation may need extra help in writing skills. Shy students who don't engage in class discussions can use oral exams as an opportunity to demonstrate their level of conversation. Finding your students' weak areas will help you plan future lessons more effectively.








3. Use authentic materials to test your students. If you are teaching from a book, try to avoid "teaching to the test." Memorizing workbook exercises without truly understanding and contextualizing the usage will not benefit your students, whether they need the language for travel, business negotiations, communication with in-laws, or adapting to life in a new country. In oral exams, focus on assessing their ability to understand you and communicate what they want to say rather than just parroting perfect grammar structures. When testing for reading comprehension, have your test questions directly relate to the content of the passage, rather than particular grammar or structure rules.

What Are The Lsats

What Are the LSATs?


The Law School Admission Test, or LSAT, is a standardized test developed and put into use in 1948. The test has gone through various revisions through the years, both in regard to content and scoring practices. The LSAT is utilized today by all American Bar Association-accredited law schools as a means of providing a more objective methodology through which potential law students can be evaluated.


Test Composition


In its present incarnation, the LSAT is composed of five sections containing multiple-choice questions. Four of these sections are scored; a fifth section comprises experimental questions and is not scored but is used in the development of questions on future examinations. Finally, there is an additional section devoted to a writing sample, which is not scored.


The four scored sections of the LSAT address logical reasoning (two separate sections), analytical reasoning and reading comprehension.


Logical Reasoning








Each of the two logical-reasoning sections includes a series of questions that illustrate a set of facts or an argument. Following each question, you are directed to identify a statement that would enhance or weaken the point of argument, identify a logical error in the argument, or identify the argument's essential assumption. Although the question order is random, the questions do tend to progress from the easiest to the most complex.


Analytical Reasoning


The analytical-reasoning section of the LSAT often is referred to as games of logic. The material in this section generally requires you to order, group or match different items presented. Each individual query includes a setup that provides some basic information pertaining to the particular situation. You are directed to make certain deductions from the limited information provided.








Reading Comprehension


In recent years, this section of the examination consists of three individual passages, each containing about 500 words. You are directed to identify the author's main idea or theme, draw certain inferences from the material, describe how the passage is structured and identify certain, specific pieces of information from the text. There are typically as many as eight questions for each passage.


There is an additional comparative reading section that sets forth different perspectives on one particular topic or matter.


Writing Sample


The writing sample section of the LSAT is at the end of the examination. You are presented with a particular problem and two identified criteria for formulating a decision. You must select an option and write the essay favoring one of these criteria over the other. Controversial subjects are avoided so that you aren't likely to have a strong, preexisting bias toward the topic.


Scoring


Different scoring systems and scales have been used with the LSAT through the years. The current system runs from 120 to 180, and the median score is approximately 151. When you apply to law school, the LSAT score automatically is reported to that institution. Without knowing your score, you can cancel this report within six calendar days of the test.


Although the score from that particular test session will not be reported to any law school, a law school at which you apply in the future will be advised that a test was taken on that date.

Instructions


1. Ask your human resources department if there is a tuition reimbursement program in place through your job. If there is check the guidelines and fill out the forms that are required to qualify for the tuition reimbursement.


2. List the reasons that you want to get the degree, as well as how it will benefit the company that you are working for. Most company will only pay for employees to go to school if the classes are related to their line of work.


3. Create a plan that will see you through to graduation or certification, if that is your ultimate goal. If you are just attending to increase your understanding of a subject, then explain how that particular class will improve your job performance.


4. Prepare a proposal that includes your plan, and the benefits that you will bring to the company by completing the classes you have chosen. Include a class schedule and the time that you expect to be able to complete each class.


5. Talk to your boss about the proposal. Do not expect an answer right away; he may need time to consider the proposal. Leave the proposal with him, so he can review your suggestions.

Transfer My Bachelor'S Credit To Another University

Financial or academic challenges may cause a student to transfer from one college to another.


Each year thousands of students enter colleges and universities with the goal of earning a bachelor's degree. Financial or academic challenges, however, can cause a student to transfer to another institution to pursue that diploma. Each college or university system, whether private or public, has its own standards and rules for accepting transfer students and how many of their credits it will accept.


Instructions








1. Request official transcripts from your former college or university. Ask that the transcript be sent by fax, email or regular mail, according to the receiving school's instructions. Have the contact information at hand for each of the schools where you might transfer. Also be prepared to supply your full name, address, student ID number or Social Security number.


2. Research private and public colleges and universities for academic programs that offer degrees in your major. Contact the transfer adviser at each of the schools and verify the number of your credits that are transferable there. Verify the universities' criteria for the minimum and maximum number of credits they accept, as well as the minimum grade point average you need for acceptance. Many universities have agreements with community colleges in their regions, guaranteeing that all courses completed with a grade of C or better will be accepted.








3. Consult with your transfer adviser regarding courses with similar titles. For example, a 200 level biology course at one college won't necessarily have the same credit value at another. You might have earned three credit hours for a course at a community college, but the college where you want to transfer may require five credit hours for that subject. Often, you can use courses that fall short of the credit requirements as electives for transfer purposes. Once admitted, consider petitioning the department head of that discipline if you need that course for your major. If you can demonstrate that you have a command of the overall course material, the department head might recommend that your credits be accepted.

Transfer Credits From Truman College

Truman College is a two-year, post-secondary educational institution located on Chicago's north side. The school is part of the City colleges of Chicago and is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. If you have completed course work at Truman College, you can transfer the credits to most accredited, post-secondary educational institutions in the United States by requesting an official transcript from Truman College and sending the transcript to the school you want to transfer the credits to.


Instructions








1. Obtain Truman College's transcript request form from the school's official website. (See Resources)


2. Complete the online form by entering the requested information. You can choose to pick up your transcript in person or mail the transcript to another address.


3. Print, sign and date the completed form, and mail the completed form and a money order for $5 to:

4. Mail or deliver in person the official transcript from Truman College to the registrar's office at the school you want to transfer the credits to and request a transcript evaluation report. A letter of intent for a scholarship is also referred to as a personal statement or statement of purpose. Basically, you are writing an essay about your future--what you plan to do in college and beyond. 1. Read the scholarship guidelines carefully. Make sure you know everything the committee wants you to include in your letter of intent. Check to see if there are any word or page limits.


2. Follow the basic rules for writing a cover letter for a job or a business letter. Include your mailing address in the top left-hand corner of the letter. List the date under your return address, and then the person to whom you are addressing the letter and her street address under the date. Address your letter to a specific person if possible.


3. Begin the letter of intent with introducing what you plan to study in college and why it is important to your career field. For example, you could begin your letter of intent with a statement such as: "I am excited to pursue my love of teaching at Truman State University in Kirksville, Mo., in the fall. I plan to major in English during my undergraduate studies. As a graduate student, I will major in elementary education. I want to research ways to improve reading instruction in elementary classrooms." You are setting forth your college plans in a brief paragraph.


4. Be as specific as you can, especially if you are applying for a graduate scholarship. If you know the universities you want to attend, mention these, as well as some of the faculty members you want to work with.








5. Follow your college plans with a paragraph about your past school experiences, leadership qualities and experience and work in the field. Give the scholarship committee several examples of your dedication of pursuing a career. End your letter with your short-term and long-term career goals, such as: "After graduate school, I plan to teach in a public school in Missouri. I want to lead a committee at my school on improving students' reading comprehension. I plan to take leadership roles at the school.
