1. Review and memorize the 14 components of Henderson's theory. 2. Assess patients in light of these 14 components and whatever illness or disorder they have. Identify which of the 14 components a patient can perform individually and which will require assistance.

3. Create a nursing plan. This plan should specifically state how the nurse can assist the patient during the physician's treatment of an illness or injury. The plan should address the patient's current needs and not any expected needs. The core component to Henderson's theory is for nurses to help patients become self-sufficient. Because of this, only the patient's needs should be assisted. If you are a part of a nursing team, this plan should be shared with other team members.

4. Implement the plan. Needs should be addressed on an hourly and daily basis. The timing of a patient's needs may vary, requiring a nurse to be flexible. A patient's needs may require more or less tending to, depending on the time of day and treatment. This approach requires continuous evaluation of the patient and alterations to the provided nursing care.

5. Reassess the nursing plan. Every few days and at important treatment markers reevaluate the original nursing plan to see whether it should be revised. The goal of a nurse following Henderson's theory is to make the patient self-sufficient as fast as possible. If changes to nursing care will speed up the patient's recovery, they should be included in the nursing plan. Here again, the focus is on meeting the patient's needs. There is no specific time when a plan should be reevaluated; if it is suspected that a change to the patients needs may have occurred, it is proper at that time to evaluate the old plan in light of new developments.

Scientific articles are reviewed only by other scientists in the same field and specialty. These individuals are known as scientific refeerees and the process is called "peer review." It is one of the methods by which technical information and experimental results are publicized, and failure or success of the process will greatly impact on the ability of the scientists (the article's authors) to win federal funds, hire staff, and maintain a laboratory. It is therefore important that any scientist invited to referee a scientific paper is able to critically dissect, understand, correct and improve all of its components.

1. Make sure you have the appropriate qualifications before agreeing to referee a scientific article. It is highly rare and unusual for a scientist without a Ph.D. (or higher qualifications) in the specific field, to be selected as a referee; however many journal editors do make this mistake. Your decisions, critical appraisals, corrections or suggestions must withstand all legal, academic and scientific challenges.

2. Determine the aim of the article. Ensure the problem being investigated and the purpose of the article is clearly stated and that the authors emphasize any significant concerns. 5. Verify that the method of experimentation is suitable. Check that the experimental procedures are correct. This includes the type of samples analyzed, the models used, the approach to data collection, the method of data analysis, and any calculations that affect the accuracy and stringency of the data.

6. Verify that enough data has been collected for publication. Check that the data covers all potential loopholes, addresses any inconsistencies, and either validates or directly opposes the proposed hypothesis. The data should establish conclusively whether a problem has been solved or created.

7. Critique the discussion of the results. This is the most difficult part of refereeing a scientific article and will require a significant understanding of the topic and the impact of the data on the field at large. Check that the conclusions were correct, succinct, and address any open-ended questions, conflicting data or puzzling observations.

8. Always check the writing style last. Scientific articles prioritize data accuracy and scientific method over style of writing. Science writing should be extremely concise, technical, formal and correctly referenced. Grammatical errors and other English problems are a minimal concern, since not all scientists have English as their native language, however these should be flagged for the editor to correct. Also for this reason, flowery and verbose writing styles must be rejected.

9. Recommend or reject the article. Write a detailed referee's report, which may be in the form of a simple template provided by the journal editors.

Doing shrugs with light dumbbells can build strength in the traps. It is also important to build muscle strength in surrounding muscles such as the deltoids (shoulder muscles) and upper back. This helps take pressure off the trapezius. Lifting light dumbbells above the head, raising them to shoulder height and in front can build strength in the deltoids. Pulling exercises can build strength in the upper back.

Types of Therapy

Resting the trapezius and applying ice can help relieve pain in the trapezius. Ice promotes vasoconstriction, which temporarily minimizes blood flow to the area to reduce inflammation. It is important to use ice as soon as any pain symptoms appear. Ice should only be used at 20-minute intervals. Ibuprofen and other anti-inflammatory medications can also alleviate pain and inflammation.

Prevention/Solution

Doing simple stretching exercises regularly can help prevent trapezius pain. Shrugging the shoulders up and down is one such exercise. Holding both arms up like football goal posts and moving them back and forth is another stretching exercise.

Art and physical education are usually thought of as different domains, but integrating them can be of much benefit to children. Physical activities using pre-made art

Bring in a series of paintings, reproductions or projections of paintings. Have students form into groups of four or five. Each group will choose a different painting and reproduce it physically. Alternatively or additionally, have the students create a back story to the painting, which they can then act out.

Physical activities to create art

These kind of activities are good for a rainy day, when students have unspent energy from not going outside. Hang mural paper on all four walls of a gymnasium, and place different colored markers around the room at the base of the wall. Play music, and allow the students to run around. Each time you periodically stop the music, students must run to the wall, pick up a marker, and draw what they feel. Ideally, each time they will run to a different place, and the result will be a large, multicolored, collaborative mural.

Artistic activities about sports

While these activities demand less physical exertion, they still teach students about physical activity. Have students select their favorite sport and draw a scene of someone, or a group of people, playing that sport. Alternatively, have students draw what they think good physical fitness looks like, and what bad physical fitness looks like. Go over the drawings together as a class, teaching students which activities are healthy and which are not.

Activities using both sports and art equally

If you want to teach art and exercise together, try setting up an art obstacle course. For this activity, prepare three different art stations, each with a different objective (drawing a picture of a person, creating a Plasticine model of themselves and a gluing activity, for example). A narrative essay lets you write about any subject or experience from a particular point of view, either your own or that of another character. In a narrative essay, you support your points with descriptive memories instead of historical facts, documents or literature. 1. Write a few intriguing descriptive sentences pertaining to your essay topic. For example, if your essay is about playing soccer, use the opening of the first paragraph to set the scene. Describe the smell of the grass, the positions of the team benches and the way your soccer cleats felt as you laced them tightly.

2. Write a startling sentence that seems incongruous, random or surprising, but still pertains to the topic of your essay. For example, if your essay is about working in an orange orchard, write a sentence that goes against what a reader might expect from an orchard worker, such as "I hate orange juice. Even as a young child, I would ask for milk or cranberry juice with my breakfast."

3. Write a few lines of dialogue relating the event or experience your essay narrates. Choose whether you want a single quote or a brief exchange of dialogue. Choose simple but powerful dialogue that draws the reader in without giving away the climax or central point. For example, if you are narrating working on an orange orchard, your opening lines could be the exchange you had with your supervisor during hiring.

Other Heirs

If multiple heirs, such as multiple siblings, all have a claim to the vehicle, the situation becomes more complicated. If one sibling is a co-borrower, he will assume ownership to the exclusion of the other heirs as he is probably also listed as a co-owner. If there is no co-owner of the vehicle and a will does not apply to divide the inheritance, the probate court will divide the estate, including the vehicle, as it sees fit under the law. If you still want the vehicle, you may need to buy out the other heirs and continue making payments or refinance the loan.

Write a Young Adult Novel

A young adult novel, often called YA, is like an adult novel with teenage characters. Much of the writing process is the same and readers often read both YA and adult fiction. Authors of young adult novels detail the delicate, awkward, interesting lives of young people trying to transition into adulthood.

Plan

1. Read young adult books, and look through teenage magazines. Go to the library or bookstore and see what books are popular now, and analyze them to see what teens are looking for in a novel. This will help you to decide which plots and themes have been overwritten and give you insight as to current issues.

2. Choose an age group to focus your novel on and use themes acceptable for that age. Young adult books are typically marketed for ages 12 to 18, though many younger and older readers also enjoy them. Older YA readers can handle, and prefer, the main character tackling edgier subjects with much introspection and big questions, while younger readers prefer main characters watching their friends or family go through these big issues.

3. Choose a genre as you would with an adult book. YA novel genres take on subjects such as general fiction, fantasy, science fiction, animals, school, families and mystery, and non-fiction and memoirs.

4. Think of a plot or set of characters for your story before you begin writing. Keep a journal or a notebook close by to jot down any interesting thoughts. Remember times from your own teenage years or ask friends to recall their most awkward moments.

5. Create a general outline of your story, including characters, plots, viewpoint, themes and lessons to be learned. Characters in a YA story tend to experience life in a dramatic way and grow psychologically throughout the story.

6. Start writing. The beginning of any book is difficult to write but extremely important. Teenagers often stand in a bookstore or library and read the first few pages of a book to decide whether to continue. The beginning should introduce the characters and start talking about the plot or theme of the story.

7. Continue writing. The body of the story focuses on the challenges the characters face and the choices they make. A typical young adult novel is between 40,000 and 75,000 words long. The middle of the story is where the bulk of your character's experiences happen, where he begins to question his role in life or she struggles with the importance of relationships. Often a tragedy has taken place in the beginning and the character is left to deal with the aftermath.

8. Create a climax. All of the things the characters have been struggling with finally come to a critical point and one decision can change everything. The climax generally happens right before the ending-everything that has happened in the beginning and middle leads up to this moment of truth and resolution.

9. End the book. Be careful not to drag the story out too far after the climax. YA novels don't always end with happiness, but most hidden themes require some sort of resolution or understanding. Characters will find their way and feel as though they have become a part of their world. Lessons aren't as necessary as a sort of psychological and emotional transformation.

The SAT is required part of most college applications. How well you score may determine whether or not you get into a college and how much scholarship money you can get. The vocabulary portion of the test intimidates many students, but with some strategic study sessions, it shouldn't be too difficult to score well.

Building Vocabulary

You should start building your vocabulary long before you start studying for the SATs. When reading or studying, it's a good idea to keep a notebook close by to write down words you're unfamiliar with. Later, look these words up in the dictionary. You should also make note of words you see over and over in textbooks or hear during teachers' lectures.

Learning in Parts

You don't have to study every word in the English language to prepare for the SAT vocabulary test. Most words consist of a combination of a root, prefix or suffix, so if you study the meanings of common root words, prefixes and suffixes, you may be able to deduce meanings of words you don't know.

For example, a root word like "act" can have a number of prefixes and suffixes. If you know that the prefix "re-" means over again and that the suffix "-ion" is used to turn verbs into nouns, you will probably be able to guess what the words "react" and "action" mean, even if you didn't study those words specifically.

Practice

The most valuable resource you can have while you prepare for the SATs is a study booklet. You can get tips about what taking the test will be like and take practice tests in a book or online. These practice resources will also provide you with a list of high-frequency words, which are words that show up year after year on the SAT vocabulary test. If you study these high-frequency words, you can be ensured of being familiar with at least some of the vocabulary words on the test. Don't worry about memorizing the definitions word for word. Commonly misunderstood and seriously stereotyped, cowboy poetry is a mystery to most mainstream audiences. However, cowboy poetry represents a deeply sensitive, intelligent, gritty and centuries-old genre. Test your own skills as a cowboy poet by following these steps.

1. Find a purpose for your poem. The most important part of writing cowboy poetry is conveying a message to the reader. Many cowboy poems have universal messages that many can relate to but they specifically reflect the culture of the American West. For example, this kind of poetry might talk about the hardship of working a cattle drive or the kinship a man feels toward his horse.

2. Create rhymed, metered verse. The majority of cowboy poetry is evenly paced and rhythmic. There is no specific required meter. Here is a stanza from poet Darrell Arnold's "Summer Sky." Notice how the stanza keeps a smooth pace and rhymes:

"Only minutes, then it's over.

Once again, the air is clear,

As the thunderhead rolls onward to the plains;

And against its passing darkness

Gleams a rainbow, arching high,

Adding glory to the welcome summer rains."

3. Use original images and ideas. Cowboy poetry relies on the use of fresh images to keep the genre alive. Themes can be recycled 100 times over, but you should avoid cliches, such as "the big blue sky" or "a bone-chilling cold."

4. Rehearse your poem aloud. Cowboy poetry is an oral tradition that must be shared through the spoken word. Many cowboy poems mimic the natural rhythm of horseback riding. Read what you've written and try to hear a clip-clop, clip-clop or similar beat in the lines.

5. Read cowboy poetry. There are anthologies full of poems written by famous poets and little known ranchers. The more you read, the easier it will be to conceptualize the creation of your own cowboy poetry. Stop by a bookstore with a diverse inventory or search an online book retailer.

Can An S Corp Have 2 Classes Of Stock

An S corporation can only have one class of stock.

In order for a corporation to qualify to elect special tax treatment under subchapter S of the Internal Revenue Code, it must comply with certain rules established by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The S corporation election is reserved for small corporations that do not intend to ever have more than 100 shareholders or to raise money by selling stock to the public.

Regulations

Regulations section 1.1361-1(l) of subchapter S of the Internal Revenue Code states that a corporation can elect to be an S corporation only if it has one class of stock. This is a prerequisite to making the election and cannot be exempted.

Classes of Stock

A corporation is treated as having only one class of stock if all outstanding shares of the corporation's stock confer identical rights to distribution and liquidation proceeds. Most small businesses that are incorporated issue one type of "Class A" stock by default. In fact, for the small business, stock is never actually issued; ownership interest is represented on the books as percentages. As long as there is no distinction in equitable rights between the stockholders (some owners are entitled to be paid before others in the case of liquidation instead of by the percentage of the business owned, for example) a corporation would meet this requirement.

Verification

Generally, a corporation's articles of incorporation will indicate the type, number and value of the initial authorized shares of stock. Unless a corporation's board of directors has voted to change this initial designation, the articles will verify the corporation's existing stock structure.

Voting Rights

Don't mistake differences in voting rights for differences in classes of stocks. A corporation can establish a tiered approach to voting (some shareholders' votes have more weight than others per the bylaws, for example) without issuing multiple classes of stock. Voting has no impact on equitable interest.

Practical Considerations

If your corporation meets all the other requirements for an S election and you have determined that the special tax treatment would benefit your bottom line, consider making adjustments to the structure of your stock if your corporation has more than one class outstanding. Western College of Veterinary Medicine

The Western College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan, located in Saskatoon, houses a teaching hospital, a provincial diagnostic laboratory and research facilities on the banks of the South Saskatchewan River. A Pell Grant is a grant from the federal government to help you pay for college. It is given to students with financial need, and it does not have to be paid back. If you have lost your job, you may be eligible for a Pell Grant since your income has likely been significantly reduced.

FAFSA

Pell Grants are given to students who have filled out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This can be filled out online at FAFSA.ed.gov, or you can fill out a paper copy, which is usually available from your college's financial aid office. The FAFSA uses a number of determiners to see if you are eligible for educational grants and student loans.

Eligibility

How Much

A Pell Grant given in the 2011-12 award year has a maximum amount of $5,550. For dependents of Iraq or Afghanistan soldiers who died as a result of their service, the maximum award amount will be given. These students must have been enrolled at least part-time in college and be under the age of 24 when the parent or guardian passed away to receive the maximum amount. If the first time you receive a Pell Grant was on or after July 1, 2008, you can only receive Pell Grants up to 18 semesters.

Communication is vital among family members, in school, in social situations and in the workplace. Communication in the language arts involves listening, speaking, reading and writing. As children, we learn to listen before we speak, read or write. Developing effective listening skills is basic to building strong communication.

Becoming an active listener

1. Become an active listener by becoming engaged in what you are hearing. Resist the urge to let the words "go in one ear and out the other" by not really paying attention. Even if something is on your mind, give the speaker your full attention. Taking notes as you listen can help you become an active listener.

2. Focus on the speaker and eliminate distractions. This might mean turning off your phone, turning down the music or making a conscious effort not to look out the window.

3. Pay attention to cues that the speaker gives you that important information is coming. The speaker might say, "The point is" or "To sum it up." When you hear phrases like that, it indicates that you should pay special attention to what comes next.

4. Watch the speaker to pick up nonverbal clues (sometimes called body language) that enhance his/her words. Listen for a change in tone of voice. Many speakers pause before making an important point, then speak louder and/or faster. Tone of voice can indicate the speaker's emotions.

5. Save your reaction for after you listen to the speaker. If you are focused on your reaction or response to the speaker before he/she finishes, you are not really actively listening to what the speaker has to say. Avoid interruptions and let the speaker finish with your full attention.

6. Check to make sure you understand the speaker correctly. This can be done easily by summarizing what the speaker communicated by restating the points in your own words. You might say, "So you think that such and such is the case." If you misinterpreted what you heard, you will be corrected. If you are truly confused, ask the speaker to repeat or explain.
