Morehouse School of Medicine, with an acceptance rate below two percent, is a top-ranked primary care college. Pre-Med
Each state has one highly regarded pre-med program, but none more so than Emory University. This private college places strong emphasis on biology and the life sciences, even as electives for non-science majors. A thorough familiarity with metaphor is an invaluable aid in both interpreting and creating literature. While students may find the terminology dull, there is no reason that the subject itself should bore them. Metaphors make new connections and help bring scenes and situations alive to us. The key is to give students tools with which to understand and create metaphors.
Metaphor Hunt
One way to help students grow more comfortable with metaphors is to help them discover that they already know and use a wide range of metaphorical language in everyday speech. After explaining briefly what metaphors are, write the name of a category on the board, such as "Body" or "Temperature." Prompt students to think of common phrases that use metaphors that match the category. Body metaphors, for example, include "broken heart," "lend me your ears," "keep an eye on him" and so on. For added competitive fun, break the class up into teams with different categories.
Two-Step Method
The two-step method is a way to find a metaphor to describe a specific object, person or situation. Choose an item you want to describe, such as a tree. In the first step, name the item's characteristics. A tree, for example, may be tall, have many limbs, feel welcoming and be fruitful. Choose the characteristic you most want to express, such as the numerous limbs. In the second step, think of other things that have that characteristic, such as an octopus, a river or a snowflake. Form a metaphor using your favorite: "The tree was an octopus gripping the sky."
Metaphor Matching
This game helps students develop the skills they need to interpret metaphors in literature. Choose a few literary metaphors that are particularly rich or well-known, such as "Juliet is the sun." Show them to your students one at a time and challenge them to find as many matching qualities as they can between the two items compared in the metaphor. In this case, students might guess that both Juliet and the sun are bright, hot, pretty, distant, life-giving and so on.
Acting Out Metaphors
Letting students act out metaphors can bring hilarity to the classroom, especially if you lead the way. Divide students into groups of three or four. GMAT is short for Graduate Management Admission Test. Almost all graduate schools will require applicants to submit GMAT scores as part of the admissions process. The analytical writing assessment contains two writing prompts, each taking 30 minutes. The quantitative section allows test-takers 75 minutes to finish 37 multiple-choice questions. The verbal section has 41 questions and also takes 75 minutes. The overall score will range from 200 to 800. Each section of the test has its own score. The verbal and quantitative scores range from zero to 60. The writing score does not influence the total score and ranges from zero to six.
Getting Your Score
Since the test is taken on the computer, unofficial scores for the objective sections and the total are available right after the test is finished. The writing score is unable to be calculated immediately because that section is calculated manually.
When signing up for the test, test takers must indicate whether they want to receive their official test scores online or in the mail. If online is selected, they will be emailed about 20 days after the test a link where the test taker can go to view the score report online. If the score is sent by mail, it will be generally be mailed 20 days after the test, but the mailed score will generally take longer to reach the test taker because of the time in transit.
Sending Scores to Graduate Schools

The woman owns a purse and it's red.
To rephrase this sentence so it's not quite so awkward:
The woman's purse is red.
Add an apostrophe and the letter s to make the singular noun (woman) possessive (woman's).
3. PLURAL POSSESSIVE NOUNS
Plural nouns, remember, are simply nouns that indicate more than one, such as boys. Sometimes a plural noun owns or possesses something.
The boys' caps blew off in the wind.
The word boys is all ready plural so add an apostrophe after the letter s to make the plural noun (boys) possessive. You can also add an apostrophe and another letter s to make boys's.
Another example: We are always losing our TVs' remote controls in the couch and under the bed.
To break it down: We have two TVs (TVs is a plural noun) and both remote controls get lost. Our TVs' remote controls (plural possessive noun) are both black..
Again, an alternative is to add the apostrophe after the letter s and add another letter s to spell TVs's.

A pulled trapezius muscle can cause much pain and discomfort. This muscle extends from the top of the neck, down to the middle of the back and stretches across the back of the shoulders. Because of its location, any type of upper body movement puts strain on this muscle.
Take Medication
The first thing you should do is take one or two ibuprofen. This will ease the pain as well as reduce inflammation. Continue taking one pill every 6 hours until the muscle has made a full recovery.
Let the Muscle Rest
A pulled trapezius needs to get as much rest as possible. This means doing no physical work unless it is absolutely necessary. It is best to lie on your back as much as you can for at least the first two days. If it becomes painful to be on your back, then switch to the most comfortable position you can find.
Use an Ice Pack
While lying down, place an ice pack on the muscle. It would be beneficial to have somebody place it on there for you to prevent causing extra strain on the trapezius. Ice will help prevent swelling and inflammation. The back is sensitive to cold temperatures, so you may want to place a towel between the ice pack and your skin. Leave the ice on for 10 minutes and repeat the process each hour you are awake.
Apply a Heat Pad
Starting on the second day, you should apply a heat pad to your pulled trapezius. Heat will increase the flow of circulation to that particular area, which will help encourage faster healing. Leave the pad on for 15 to 20 minutes, repeating the process every 2 hours.
Stretching the Muscle
Gentle stretching will help loosen the strained muscle. Stretching should never be painful, so make sure you do not overdo it. Stretching too hard or too much may cause more damage to the muscle. Find a comfortable stretching point and do it for five minutes at least once per hour.

Keep in mind the time frame needed for your project and how easy or complicated it will be to explain when choosing a change theory. Write a plan for the implementation of your theory. Make sure your plan is divided into steps that can be done one after the other, based on your selected change theory.
Create Awareness
Make your staff nurses aware of the impending change and why it is needed. Do this by organizing a staff meeting where this change will be announced. During this meeting, find out if there is any real or potential resistance to the proposed change, and make plans to reduce or eliminate it.
Manage Resistance
Resistance may be due to a variety of reasons. You can manage resistance by describing the benefits that change will bring. Inform the staff nurses that training will be provided if necessary for adaptation to the new change. Deal with resistance by addressing the underlying fear causing it.
Implement Your Plan
Gather all the resources you will need to implement your plan, and then implement it in stages as dictated by the change theory you selected.
Evaluate Changed Environment
Create a questionnaire for staff nurses and patients to fill out to gauge the effectiveness of the change that you have implemented. Determine if it has the desired effect or is it lacking in certain areas. Ensure the change is highly effective by taking steps to improve areas that need more work. After this, you can make the change permanent in your establishment by making it a policy or rule.

Many students change majors, but it may take you longer to graduate if you do.
At Indian River State College, students are free to change majors at any time. Once you make the decision to change majors you are required to speak with an academic adviser at the Office of Student Affairs. Your adviser will help you determine whether or not a new career path is right for you and whether or not your current credits can be applied to a degree in your new major. Some majors require you take specific prerequisites, which means you may have to take additional courses before you can begin working on your new degree.
Instructions
1. Visit the IRSC Office of Student Affairs Monday to Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. during fall and spring semesters. The office is open Monday to Thursday between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. during the summer semesters.
2. Inform the receptionist you want to speak with an academic adviser. You might be asked to make an appointment to come back and speak to your adviser if she is not currently available.
3. Speak with your adviser about your decision to change majors. Your adviser will let you know what, if any, additional prerequisite classes you must take and help you set up a schedule to work toward graduating with your new degree. She will also change your major in IRSC's internal database.

American Counseling Association Foundation
The American Counseling Association Foundation provides scholarship assistance to students pursuing a career in counseling. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of an annual essay contest. Two scholarships of $1,500 and eight scholarships of $500 are awarded each year. Students must be pursuing a degree at the graduate level in order to be eligible for entry. All entries must be received before the annual deadline of January 10.
American School Counselor Association
The American School Counselor Association offers annual scholarship assistance to students pursuing a career in school counseling. ASCA scholarships are awarded in the amount of $1,000. To be eligible, applicants must be pursuing a master's degree and must be attending school on a full-time basis. The annual deadline for application is October 14. Preferential consideration may be given to applicants who belong to a minority ethnic group.
National Association of Social Workers Foundation
The National Association of Social Workers Foundation offers several scholarships to future counselors and social workers who are pursuing a master's degree or Ph.D. Scholarships are awarded in amounts of up to $2,000. To be eligible, applicants must be graduate students pursuing a degree related to social work and must be members in good standing of the National Association of Social Workers Foundation. Application materials must be received by the annual deadline of March 31.
Council on Social Work Education
The Council on Social Work Education offers several educational grant programs for students pursuing study related to social work and counseling. The Carl A. Scott Memorial Fund is awarded in amounts of up to $500 to students whose research is related to social justice and equity. The CSWE Scholars Program awards research grants to students pursuing a Ph.D. related to social work. There are many factors that go into the MIchigan Law School process.
Michigan Law School is located in Ann Arbor on the campus of the University of Michigan. As of early 2011, it's ranked among the top 10 law schools in the country. While the school has traditionally been strong in international law, it also specializes in tax law, law and humanities, and law and social sciences. Prospective students are only required to take the LSAT and possess a bachelor's degree, but there are many different factors to consider to improve your chances of being accepted.
LSAT
For admission to Michigan Law School, the classes of 2010, 2011 and 2012 took the LSAT and had an average passing score of 166 to 170. Out of the many applicants who scored in this range, approximately 21% were accepted. The dean of admissions will take into consideration varying test scores if there's an unusually high jump in scores from the 150- to 170- point range, as long as there's a justifiable explanation. For multiple scores that are within a couple of points, they'll consider the mean score of all attempts. LSAT scores must be no more than five years old.
Conferred Undergraduate Degree
To be considered for admission to Michigan Law School, candidates must possess a conferred undergraduate degree from an accredited university. In many cases, students possess a degree in social sciences, but many hold a degree in business, engineering or math. Curricula will be taken into account, as will your GPA. Transfer students must have complete 28 credit hours or the equivalent of their first year of law school.

The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching provides classification of colleges based on school size. Classification is divided between schools offering two-year and four-year programs. The student-professor relationship at a smaller college tends to more personal due to smaller class sizes. Instructors at these schools are more likely to encourage class participation as part of the curriculum, making it easier for students to interact with each other. Because it is easier for professors and counselors to know students on a personal level, they can provide a more particular course of study based on each pupil's needs. Due to the fact many small colleges are in less populated cities and towns, students are more likely to gain a strong sense of community while attending school. The Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC) is a program offered at many American colleges and universities. The program runs in conjunction with a college or university's normal course of study, allowing candidates to earn a bachelor's degree while participating in the program. Along with the freedom to earn a degree, candidates are introduced into the studies of naval science, physical training and are taught the principles expected of a naval officer.
Eligibility Requirements
Basic eligibility requirements for the Marine NROTC are based on citizenship, age and acceptance into an accredited college or university. All applicants for the program must be a U.S. citizen enrolled in an approved NROTC college or university. The second basic eligibility requirement is that the applicant must be at least 17 years old by September 1 of the same year the applicant plans to start college and no older than 23 by June 30 of the same year. Also in regards to the age of an applicant, he must be under the age of 27 by June 30 of his graduating year. An applicant must also hold a high school diploma or a GED by August 1 of the year he/her starts college and gains entrance into the Marine NROTC program.
Academic Requirements
Participants in the Marine NROTC program are first required to be enrolled as a full-time student. He must be working toward attaining a bachelor's degree in accordance with the requirement of his major. Participants must enroll in a naval science class each semester as well as certain other classes specified by the Marine Corps. Participants are also required to maintain an acceptable level of academic success. Marine NROTC participants are required to attend four-to-six week annual training camps every summer.
Physical Requirements
Participants in the Marine NROTC program are expected to maintain a level of physical wellness. Candidates are tested before accepted into the program, after which, he must maintain good physical health. Candidates must first pass the Marine Corps' physical readiness test, which evaluates candidates on muscular strength, endurance, aerobic wellness and flexibility. In addition to passing the physical readiness test, candidates must have vision correctable to 20/20 and no major medical conditions. Asthma, heart disease, chronic skin disorders, seizure disorders, keratoconus or alcohol/drug abuse are all reasons for ineligibility. However, medical waivers may be given in certain cases. Expectation of Service
Every participant of the Marine NROTC program is expected to serve in the U.S. military immediately following graduation. Participants who participated in the NROTC scholarship program are required to serve a minimum of four years on active duty. Participants who did not participate in the NROTC scholarship program are required to serve a minimum of three years on active duty.
Benefits of Service
As a participant in the Marine NROTC, candidates are given the option of applying for the NROTC scholarship. This scholarship pays for most college expenses including tuition, books, university fees and uniforms. Marine NROTC graduates who complete the program are then commissioned as an ensign in the Navy or as a second lieutenant in the Marine Corps.

Parents can save for their child's education by contributing to a Section 529 college savings plan. The contributions are tax deferred as well as tax-free if they are used to pay for college. These tax advantages will not expire. The parent controls the account, not the student. The money put into the account will not significantly affect the ability of your child to receive financial need-based aid. It is important to use a direct sold plan, not one sold by an adviser. Plans sold by advisers tack on fees and commissions that can eliminate any tax savings. Many states also offer pre-paid tuition plans that can be used toward tuition at a public college in the state where the plan was opened. These plans do not account for increases in tuition over time. 529 plans can be used for certifications and all types of degrees. They can also be used at public and private colleges, as long as the college is eligible for federal student aid.
Financial Aid
Financial aid comes in a variety of forms, including scholarships. Other forms include student loans, both from the federal and state governments as well as private loans from private financial institutions. Interest accrues on unsubsidized student loans from the federal government as well as on private loans while the student is in school. Interest while the student is in school or during grace periods does not have to be paid on subsidized loans.
Other types of financial aid include tuition waivers, such as the one offered by Texas to educational aides and substitute teachers who want to go to college to become teachers. The federal government also offers work-study programs that pay students an hourly salary for work they do at a job scheduled around their classes. These programs are offered at colleges eligible for financial aid from the federal government. Work is often done for on-campus employers, but some students also work for off-campus employers. Jobs are often assigned based on a student's major and often are for nonprofit organizations. Federal grants are another option to help pay for school. The federal government offers financial-need based grants, such as the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant, the TEACH Grant (for those who want to become teachers) and the Pell Grant.
What to Expect
About two-thirds of college expenses are paid for by savings, loans and current income. Financial aid from the government, scholarships and university grants and scholarships only pay for about a third of college costs. Saving for college ahead of time is therefore a good way to cut down on the amount of loans your child or you will have to take out to pay for college.

You have six to nine months after college graduation to begin paying back your college loan. Defaulting on a student loan by not making payments can cause negative consequences such as losing the ability to apply for another federal loan, garnishment of wages, tax refund offsets on the state and federal level, and a decreased credit score. You can reduce what you owe on a student loan by making monthly payments after removing the default status on your loan.
Instructions
1. Call the U.S. Department of Education's Federal Student Aid Payment office for defaulted Direct Student Loans at 800-621-3115, locate a loan payment stub or collection notice, or use a loan locator on the Internet to figure out who currently holds your defaulted student loan.
2. Contact the agency that holds your loan and explain that you want to rehabilitate your loan from default status. This will be noted by the agency on your account and on your credit history.
3. Arrange a monthly payment amount that you can afford and that is accepted by the lender holding your loan. This may require you to prove unemployment status or to show back statements.
4. Send six monthly payments within 15 days of your monthly payment-due dates to re-establish your eligibility. Once you have made nine consecutive payments on time and in full within a 10-month period, your loan is rehabilitated out of default status. This allows the default status to be lifted from your account.
5. Continue to make your monthly payments on time and in full to reduce the money owed on the loan and to improve your credit score. Pay more than the minimum each month, if possible, to further reduce the amount owed and to pay down interest.

A cosigner of a loan is someone who signs off on a loan in addition to the primary borrower, and is frequently required in cases of poor or complete lack of credit history. A cosigner is equally responsible for the balance of the loan if the primary borrower fails to make payments.
No Credit History
Loans typically require that the borrower have a certain number of years of continuous employment, a certain amount of current income and an established credit history. A cosigner may be required for individuals with insufficient work and/or credit history to obtain a loan.
Poor Credit History
If you have poor credit history due to late payments, defaulting on previous lines of credit or other reasons, a cosigner may be required to obtain a loan. Repaying the loan in a timely manner can help rebuild credit.
Interest Rates
Having a cosigner can significantly reduce the interest rates and fees associated with a loan, especially if the cosigner has excellent credit. This reduces the overall cost of the loan, since less money will need to be paid toward interest during the repayment period.
Disadvantage
If the borrower is unable to make payments on the loan due to job loss or other reasons, the creditor is likely to attempt to collect the balance owed from the cosigner. This may add a significant amount of stress to the relationship between the borrower and cosigner.
Excellent Credit
If you have excellent credit, obtaining a cosigner is likely unnecessary and will likely have little benefit for you in terms of reduced interest rates, lowered fees and other savings. Adding a cosigner with worse credit than you can have a negative impact on interest rates and other terms of the loan.
