Industrial Psychologists


Industrial psychologists use their psychological education and experience to enhance workers' interest in their jobs and increase the quality of work-life and overall productivity. They may also be members of work teams with management, sales or marketing on specific industrial projects, such as revising a work area to be more functional and ergonomically comfortable for the employees. In many cases, they work with the human resources department to interview and train new employees as well as provide counseling as needed. Music Therapists


Research has found that music can be an effective psychological tool to help emotionally challenged children, such as those with autism. Music therapists design interventions to enhance wellness and quality of life, handle stress and anxiety, reduce pain, improve communication and increase memory and expression of feelings. Many people are interested in studying science in order to better understand the world around us. As children and even as adults, we are baffled and amazed by the way things work. Why Is the Sky Blue?


This is one of many age-old questions about our beautiful planet. The Sun, like all full-spectrum light, contains a mixture of all colors. When sunlight hits the molecules of air in our atmosphere, these molecules scatter blue light more than other colors, like red and violet, which causes the blue light to be very visible.








How Did Humans Evolve?








This is a tricky question. On the one hand, there are many people who don't agree with the theory of evolution and thus don't think humans evolved at all, but rather were created by God. However, the overwhelming majority of scientists today do support the theory of evolution and believe that humans evolved from a more primitive ancestor. There is still much research being done to learn about the genetic lineage of humans. Data suggests that there was a genetic split 8 to 4 million years ago between humans, chimpanzees and gorillas.


How Big Is the Universe?


Scientists don't have a clear-cut answer to this complex question. It has not been determined whether the universe is infinite or if there is some sort of boundary. Both of these answers, however, create more questions. Trying to understand that the universe may be "infinite" is incredibly difficult for us to grasp, yet if the universe does have a boundary, what is past that boundary? What we do know is how far into the universe we can see based on current technology. The furthest we can view is 10 to 12 billion light-years away in any direction.

As a student, you face a variety of situations each day that make you feel like the weight of the world rests solely on your shoulders. Tests, projects, relationships, and part-time jobs combine with countless other factors to make your life more complicated than ever. Study


If you resemble most students, exams probably account for a large portion of your stress. Unfortunately, as long as you attend school you'll have to take exams. And while a healthy level of stress proves necessary to keep you on your toes, too much stress can cripple you on test day.








Studying in advance should fight off unnecessary testing anxiety. Walking into an exam knowing you have done everything in your power to prepare produces a calming effect. This lack of sleep causes school performance to plummet and stress levels to rise.


Regardless of your reason for staying up late, fix it. You need your full 8 hours of rest to perform at optimal levels. After the proper amount of sleep, you will awake refreshed and in a good mood. Your attitude will improve as you prepare to face whatever obstacles await you.


Prepare


Arriving to class late and unprepared sends you into a panic--especially on test day. Make a habit of waking up early before class. Make sure you have all your pencils, notebooks, and whatever else you need ready when you first wake. Take a moment to sit and mentally prepare for your day in the quiet.


Arrive early to school. If you have a test, you might want to take a minute to glance at your notes or maybe you'd rather just relax. Either way, you're early and mentally prepared to face your day.


Celebrate


Have you ever heard someone start the famous saying, "All work and no play..."? Well, it's true. You're still a kid and you need to have some fun. Celebrate your hard work. Go hang out with some friends. Listen to music or play some video games. Go out on a date.


Just remember--all things in moderation. Too much fun causes your school performance to drop. When grades fall, anxiety grows. Also, stay away from alcohol and illegal drugs. These things only throw you further off your game, causing you to lose focus.

Ways For College Kids To Combat Homelessness

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, at least two to three percent of the population of the United States will spend one night homeless over a period of five years. That is 5 million to 8 million people. It is important to teach the next generation of adults to become involved in homeless causes.


Volunteer








College-age students can volunteer at a homeless shelter or soup kitchen. Giving a few hours of their time every week to help feed and shelter the homeless can have a huge impact. Look for a community outreach program in your area, or contact local church groups and inquire if they offer services to the homeless that you are able to contribute to.


National Hunger and Homlessness Awareness Week


Students can participate in National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness week, which occurs in November. If there are no specific activities for this occurring at your college or university, you can organize food drives or gather donations for organizations that help the homeless, such as UNICEF, or sponsor a walk or other charity event for this cause.


Raise Awareness








Many students choose to spend a night outdoors to raise awareness of homeless causes. College students from Charlotte, North Carolina, spent a cold night in November 2009 in a "shanty town," collecting cardboard boxes and sleeping outdoors with nothing more than the clothes on their back in frigid temperatures. All of this was to intended to start a discussion about the hardships of living on the streets and what everyday people can do to combat this issue.

Students looking for the ideal pharmacy school often struggle throughout their undergraduate years to find the best school. There are a multitude of factors to consider, and no rankings list can account for individual preferences. Once a student creates a list, there is the further challenge of determining which schools are likely to accept him based on their admission rates. Instructions


1. Locate a reputable list of top pharmacy schools (see Resources). Many of the people who created these lists determine rankings based on price, admission rates and graduation rates, so many of these factors are already taken into consideration for you.


2. Create a list of factors important to you, such as cost, admission rates, location and whether the school has a specialized program, such as clinical or military pharmacy. Make sure to note what your ideal school would have for each category.


3. Create a chart. List each factor across the top and each school down the left. Thus, you can fill in information for each school.


4. Begin sorting through the ranking list using a simple factor from your list. For example, if a school on the West Coast is preferred, schools in California would have a higher rating than schools in New York.


5. Delve into the pharmacy school websites to find information about factors not immediately clear, such as price and available programs. Insert any important information into your chart so you can refer to it in the future.








6. Examine the chart to create your own rankings. Consider those factors most important to you and begin sorting with those. For example, location may be most important to you, then price, then diversity. Therefore, a school in your ideal location with a decent price but low diversity would rank higher than a school with high diversity, a large price tag and located thousands of miles from your intended location.


7. Delete any schools you are not able to attend, whether due to low GPA, test scores, price or another factor.

To become a licensed registered nurse, a nurse may receive a diploma from a nursing program administered by a hospital, receive an associate's degree in nursing or attend a traditional college and receive a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing, also known as a BSN. Although salaries for registered nurses usually don't hinge upon their degree, BSNs may have wider advancement opportunities than other nurses, according to the Occupational Outlook Handbook of the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.


Average RN-BSN Salary


Holders of a BSN who work as a staff nurse earn average salaries of $56,103 as of January 2011, according to PayScale. In advanced positions, they tend to earn higher salaries than those of their counterparts. A nurse case manager with a BSN earns $60,818 each year, while charge nurses with a BSN earn $64,383. Nurses with a bachelor's degree who work as operating nurses earn average annual salaries of $66,994, while those who rise to managerial positions earn salaries that range from $77,648 to $77,888 on average.


Salaries by City


A RN-BSN may receive a greater salary if he works in a major city rather than in a small town, with BSNs reporting the highest salaries in some of the largest metropolises. Those in Boston earn the highest average annual salaries, $85,139 as of January 2011, according to Salary Expert. BSNs in New York earn the next highest average salaries, $74,403. BSNs who practice in Orlando, Florida, earn the smallest average annual salary, $53,017. In half of the cities surveyed by Salary Expert, BSNs earned average annual salaries between $64,797 and $66,381.


Salary Comparison


Although they receive more formal education than other registered nurses, BSN-RNs may not earn salaries that are considerably higher than their lesser-trained colleagues do. Based upon advertised job listings, the average salary for registered nurses with a BSN receive average yearly earnings of $76,000 as of January 2011, according to Indeed.com. RN positions that don't require a BSN advertise nearly the same salaries, averaging $74,000 annually.


RN-to-BSN Programs


Many nurses who are licensed as RNs but do not hold a BSN choose to further their education in RN-to-BSN programs. These training systems, which are often provided online, allow nurses with the clinical practice and skills to focus solely on the classwork and curriculum necessary to receive a BSN, rather than forcing them to take classwork that duplicates their existing credentials.

Pass A Sixth Grade Math Taks Test

So you want to pass the sixth grade math TAKS test. There are some tricks to this, and ways to almost clinch and guarantee that it happens. But it may take some hard work too.








Instructions








1. Test yourself at the beginning of the year and see where you stand. Determine if you have any weak areas compared to other students in your grade.


2. Talk to your teacher and tell her your goals, that you want to get an 'A' in the class and you want to pass your math TAKS with flying colors.


3. Find a copy of a sixth-grade math TAKS test online. Print it out, and work the problems. If you have weak spots, pull out your school math textbook and find the pages that teach you do those kinds of problems. If you don't know do this, ask one of your parents or your teacher locate the pages you need to work on.


4. Speak up and talk to your parents and teacher. Don't get left behind. You can be at the top of your class.


5. Set up a study time with your parents to get really good at math. Take a half an hour every day, or even 45 minutes or an hour to practice the math you are weak on.


6. Find a sixth grade math tutor to help you, if you need to. Meet once a week for an hour or two with your tutor. Bring all your questions to your meeting. Come prepared with pencils and paper, having had your breakfast, lunch or snack and a good night's sleep the night before.


7. Prepare to get really good at math, be at the top of your class and pass your TAKS, because you can do it.

Select A Graduate Journalism Program

For starters, if you have already completed a 4-year degree that provides you with quality technical experience (not just media theory), then you don't need to consider forking over tens of thousands of dollars on a graduate journalism program. However, if your program was theory-based, you don't feel confident with, say, your video editing skills, or don't have the material to pull together a resume tape or write a portfolio, this is for you.


Instructions








1. Consider if graduate school really is the best option. Did you write enough published clips for the student paper or other publications to knock the socks off an editor? Do you have enough quality packages and standup to impress a news director? If so, you are probably ready to make some money, not fork more over to Sallie Mae.


2. Explore financial feasibility. Aid for graduate school is not as readily available as it is for undergraduate programs. Grants may be smaller, and scholarships of any size are few and far between. Again, if you are confident in your abilities and have the work to show it, a graduate program may not be worth the additional cost.








3. Identify the real-world experience you will receive. This is the most important element. If more expensive school offers a standout internship program, a national news service and regular opportunities for your work to appear on professional stations or publications, go for that option over a school which may be cheaper but will only afford the opportunity to produce a few packages a week for the student newscast.


4. Research the school's affiliations. If it has a strong network with media outlets across the country, it's a good bet. Don't necessarily judge these outlets by their prestige or size. You will get more out of an internship with a local television station or newspaper than you will at a network news program or national magazine. At the latter, you'll probably fax and collate all day; the former, you'll produce stories that will eventually be clips for your portfolio and spots on your resume tape.


5. Research the breadth of the curriculum. You want practical, real-world training, not simply classes where you sit and discuss media issues all day. Granted, there is obviously a crucial place for an ethics course, but the key is a balanced program.


6. Select a program with a strong writing emphasis and mandatory print training. Even if you are more interested in radio or TV, a program that starts you off with the basic fundamentals and AP style guidelines will provide a strong foundation for your broadcast career. That foundation is writing. You cannot be a good broadcast journalist unless you are a good writer.


7. Opt for a program that allows you to explore many different career tracks if you are on the fence about the type of work you would like to do. If you are, for example, wrestling with whether to write for newspaper or radio, a diverse program is the perfect (and probably only) time to experiment. Such well-rounded programs require that each student experiences radio, TV, print and new media before they graduate.


8. Research the quality of faculty and mentor programs. These professionals have been there, done that and hold a lot of clout. They can be key to getting your foot in the door. Journalism is one of those careers where it is more often who you know than what you do that will get you ahead.

Texas Scholarship Programs

Scholarships are one way to help finance college.


A scholarship is money granted to a student for higher education expenses. Often awarded based on merit, scholarships are funded by a variety of sources, including state programs, private endowments and corporate sponsorship. Unlike student loans, scholarships do not have to be repaid as long as the student meets specific conditions. There are a number of scholarships available to qualifying students in Texas.


Applying for Scholarships


Scholarship applications are separate from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA. Typically, each scholarship has its own deadline and application process. The Every Chance, Every Texan website maintains a database of scholarships for Texas students. The site contains a list of scholarships with descriptions, contact information, deadlines and application instructions. In most cases, students must contact the granting foundation for an application packet.


Athletic Scholarships


High school athletes interested in pursuing their sport at a college or university may be eligible for an athletic scholarship. As of 2008, 48 Texas schools offer athletic scholarships. Most schools, such as the University of Texas at Austin, instruct prospective students interested in applying for an athletic scholarship to send a letter of interest to the athletic department. Some private foundations also offer scholarships based on athletic performance, such as the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation. Athletic scholarships often have minimum requirements for academic performance; for example, the TAAF scholarship requires a minimum grade point average of 2.5. (See Resources)


Field-of-Study Scholarships


Students planning to pursue certain types of degrees may be eligible for field-of-study scholarships. For example, many Texas schools offer scholarships to professional or vocational nursing students. These scholarships are partially based on financial need, with preference given to nursing students from rural areas. The National Press Club Scholarship grants awards to qualifying students majoring in journalism or a related field of study. Other foundations offering field-of-study scholarships to Texas students include the Texas Floral Endowment and the Texas Restaurant Association.


Specialty Scholarships


Private foundations often grant specialty scholarships based on a wide variety of criteria, such as a student's height or his parents' occupations. For example, the Two-Ten Footwear Foundation awards scholarships to qualifying students whose parents are employed in the footwear or leather industries. The William C. Doherty and John T. Donelon Scholarship Fund grants awards to the qualifying children of members of the National Association of Letter Carriers.

Founding Members


College of Charleston students Andrew Alexander Kroeg Jr., Lawrence Harry Mixson and James Fogarty were the founding members of the now-national fraternity Pi Kappa Phi. In December 1904, the fraternity was born with an attempt to share the trio's ideas in a "non-fraternity" with the college's literary society. Later, finding through the literacy society elections that a "non-fraternity" was not effective, the then-group of 15 developed what is Pi Kappa Phi.


Bergstrom Leadership Center


The Pi Kappa Phi headquarters, originally located in Charleston, South Carolina, had many locations including Richmond, Virginia, Sumter, South Carolina and Charlotte, North Carolina. A large fundraising effort helped to erect a $1.5-million dollar headquarter facility in Charlotte called the Kelley A. Bergstrom Leadership Center. The headquarters doubles as a museum that displays the "90 Broad Street" home of Simon Fogarty, where the three College of Charleston students founded Pi Kappa Phi. The facility also contains a education and seminar room which doubles as a Pi Kappa Phi event center.


Values and Programs


The fraternity of Pi Kappa Phi was founded on leadership and friendship, and those values have not changed. Pi Kappa Phi works diligently to enhance the leadership potential of its members through education and the integration of a fraternity-developed service organization: Push America. Push America is an organization founded in 1976 by fraternity members to provide leadership opportunities, educate, and inform others to encourage an understanding of those with developmental disabilities.


Notable Members in History


U.S. Congressmen Howard Coble and Phillip Crane, as well as Henry H. Fowler who was the Secretary to the Treasurer, are a few of the Pi Kappa Phi members who made significant contributions to politics. St. Louis Cardinals' outfielder Jim Edmonds and head football coach at the University of Georgia, Wally Butts, are also Pi Kappa Phi brothers. Other reputable members in Pi Kappa Phi history include journalist Rich Eisen, Pulitzer prize winner Malcolm Johnson and author Bob Inman.

Study For A Difficult Exam

Join a study group.


Getting through exams can be hard enough, but doing it in a subject that does not come naturally to you can be a nightmare. You may have to start studying earlier than normal, or enlist help from friends or tutors to ensure that you understand the material. Study the material in several ways to cement it in your mind. Non-academic factors such as good eating and sleeping patterns can help you boost your chances of success.


Instructions


1. Review material as it is presented throughout the class, rather than waiting to review it all right before the test. Make flash cards or highlight points emphasized in lectures to make sure you understand what the instructor thinks is important.


2. Get in as many methods of studying you can. Read the book or download podcasts to help you learn. More methods mean more chances to absorb the information.


3. Study for short sessions -- 45 minutes or less -- then take a break.


4. Join or start a study group. Classmates can help you with your weak points, and you can reinforce your understanding by helping others. If you're really having trouble, hire a tutor for individual attention.


5. If you know the format for the exam, practice with that format. For example, if it's an essay test, try writing an essay or two to organize your thoughts.


6. Eat well and get plenty of rest. You will process the information for the exam while you sleep. Avoid pulling an all-nighter the night before the test.

How Long Do You Have To Go To School To Become An Emt

EMTs can be the difference in patient survival.


Emergency Medical Technicians, also known as EMTs, are professionals who provide initial medical care to people before those people can reach a hospital. They respond to accidents and other emergencies. Because the actions of an EMT can drastically impact a patient's odds of survival, all EMTs have to have some schooling and become certified.


EMT Levels


The National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians recognizes five levels of EMT training. The first level is First Responder. They are trained to assess the situation and stabilize victims until EMTs with more training arrive. The other levels include EMT Basic, EMT I/85 Intermediate, EMT I/99 Intermediate and EMT Paramedic. These levels are important because the level you decide to pursue is ultimately what decides how long you will train as an EMT.


Time Range


Depending on which EMT level you select, you should expect to be in training between 6 to 24 months, according to the Allied Health World website. This translates to 30 to 350 course hours, based on data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Be aware, however, that every state has its own requirements regarding minimum education requirements -- you may be able to complete training faster in some states than others. At the end of your training period, you will have a certificate, diploma or associate's degree.


Coursework


During your EMT training, you will learn complete patient assessment, respiratory management, cardiac management, use of basic EMT equipment and trauma management. You'll also learn control bleeding and perform basic life-support techniques like CPR. As you advance, you'll continue with courses such as IV and medication administration, as well as use advanced equipment like defibrillators. If you do not pass any of this coursework, you may have to retake individual classes, which may delay your certification.


Testing


After you complete your EMT training, you will have to take a competency exam to become certified. You can get your results as soon as one business day after the test is scored, but if you do not pass the exam, you'll have to wait two weeks before you can register again. The better you prepare for the exam, the more likely it is you will pass and therefore be able to move from training into an EMT position.


Continuing Education


Even after you complete basic EMT coursework and have your certification, you will have to maintain your certification through continuing education coursework. The amount of continuing education you will need will depend on what EMT level you have and the state in which you live.

4. Set up an appointment for the interview. Prepare to receive questions about why you request a visa and what you will be doing in the United States.


5. Pick up the work visa from the Embassy or Consulate if approved. After receiving a valid visa you will be permitted to travel and work in the United States. Reapply for another work visa if you were denied.

Whether you're a parent, friend or college guidance counselor, you may be asked to assist a college student with choosing their semester classes. Instructions


1. Decipher what the student's skills and weaknesses are. If he's a great writer, you may want to encourage him to sign up for an advanced creative writing course. If he needs improvement in math skills, consider suggesting a beginner mathematics class.








2. Make a list of pro's and con's of each course the student is interested in. The student may earn more credits in a particular course and be challenged academically, but the class may be taught by a poor professor or may only be offered at inconvenient or undesirable times like on a weekend.

Catch The Regis In Pokemon R/S/E

The Regi trio consists of Regirock, Regice and Registeel. The three Regis are the legendary trio of the third generation of Pokemon games. Catching the Regis requires you to have already caught a Wailord and Relicanth in order to access the legendary Pokemon. The Regi trio are very powerful and difficult to catch, so you should have plenty of Ultra Balls ready in order to catch them. Although the process for catching the Regis is the same in both "Pokemon Sapphire" and "Pokemon Ruby," it differs somewhat in "Pokemon Emerald."








Instructions


1. Place Relicanth at the front of your party and Wailord at the sixth position in your party. If you are playing "Pokemon Emerald," have Wailord in the first position and Relicanth in the last.


2. Teach TM28 to any Pokemon that can learn it. If you have a Pokemon that knows the move "Dig," you can skip this step.


3. Travel to Route 134. Head to the diving spot at the center of Route 134. Use the move Dive and follow the path until you reach a cave. Read the inscription and use Dig.








4. Travel to the cave in the southern part of the desert. Read the inscription, then take two steps left and two steps down. Use the move Rock Smash. The door to the cave will now be opened and you can battle and capture Regirock. Regirock will be at level 40. Use Fighting- or Ground-type Pokemon to get Regirock's HP as low as possible, and then use any Pokeball you have to capture it.


5. Travel to the cave on Route 105. Read the inscription and go around the cave in a clockwise motion. When done, the door will be opened and you can battle and capture Regice. Regice will be at level 40. Use Fighting- or Fire-type Pokemon to weaken it and then capture it with any Pokeball you may have.


6. Travel to the cave on Route 120 and read the inscription. Go into the middle of the room and use the move Flash. This will open the door, allowing you the chance to battle and capture Registeel. Registeel will be at level 40 and is weak to Fire- and Fighting-type Pokemon.

How Much Time Does It Take To Become A Biomedical Engineer

From the 1930s to the 1960s the discipline of engineering was basically divided into three sub-fields--civil, mechanical and electrical engineering--but that basic division has been somewhat subsumed today by a proliferation of new fields of engineering, including biomedical engineering. Because the career range of biomedical engineers varies, the time it takes to become one also will vary, but generally you'll need a minimum of four years to complete the basic requirements for becoming a biomedical engineer.


Undergraduate Education of a Biomedical Engineer


All biomedical engineers have at least a bachelor's degree in engineering. An engineering degree usually takes four or five years to complete. Since the late 1990s several universities have developed specialized biomedical engineering programs, but before that most biomedical engineers had to custom design their own educational backgrounds. This has resulted in biomedical engineers having widely varying backgrounds, some starting with degrees in engineering and learning the biological aspects later, and others coming from a biochemistry or medicine background and adding on the engineering.


Graduate Education of a Biomedical Engineer


Most biomedical engineers will have some further education beyond a bachelor's degree. Since biomedical engineering combines various scientific disciplines, some biomedical engineers will actually have two--or more--undergraduate degrees, and some choose to pursue graduate degrees outside of their original field as their research interests develop. While it is possible to find a job working as a biomedical engineer with just an undergraduate degree, not having graduate credentials will limit your possibilities for independent research and slow down your career track. Therefore, while the minimum time to become a biomedical engineer is four years, if you choose to pursue graduate education it can be a total of six to eight years before you get your professional career under way.

The Advanced Level General Certificate of Education, commonly known as the A-Level, is the secondary school qualification taken by many students in England and Wales (Scotland has a separate system). 1. Be prepared for hard work.








Do your research, speaking to your careers advice department at school, or Connexions, if aged between 13 and 19. Strengthen A Grad School Application

8. Polish such interviewing skills as maintaining eye contact, shaking hands and choosing the appropriate attire. An applicant who looks good on paper will quickly be turned down if she cannot interview well.

Store College Dorm Furniture In Summer

So it's June again, and you're ready to head out of your college town for the summer, to the beach, back home, or to a temporary job. No place to put your stuff from the dorm? Don't throw it away! Too many students end up leaving their apartments furnished, and everything but the kitchen sink goes straight into a dumpster. This could be arguably a strain on the environment; at the least, it's a waste of good furniture and a drain on your (or parents') wallet. Be enterprising and find a way to save your home furnishings for next year.








Instructions








1. Find out about school-sponsored programs. Some universities may have pre-arranged storage space inside the dorm building or at the "physical plant" maintenance facility where you can pay to store furniture. The great thing about on-campus storage? No lugging the stuff all over town.


2. Join forces. Find other wanderers in your dorm in the same situation; you can all chip in for a self-storage space and a rental truck, stacking everything in there together and making the most efficient use of your fees.


3. Lend items to local homeowners. A creative problem-solving college goer (recipient of that all-purpose liberal arts education) can find locals who will keep furniture until September. It's a win-win; locals get temporary furniture, and you get storage. The trick is getting the stuff back in the fall.


4. Make arrangements with an auction company. If you might not be coming back, you'll want to find the best way to "liquidate" your furniture. Again, the dumpster is not the solution. But local auction houses may agree to pick up furniture in exchange for a cut of the sales. Then, they'll send you a check, and that's it.


5. Find "free spaces." Open semi-public spaces from carports to park buildings are also places where college students might engage in "guerilla storage," stashing gear for their return. There are several downsides to this, including the likelihood that someone else will want your stuff, and also, the limitations of trespassing laws. While it may not be technically illegal to store furniture in public spaces, the act of placing it there may be considered trespassing. Use this option only if you can assess your permission to do so.

If you are an aspiring auto mechanic, the Automotive Training Centre has hands-on training programs for you. This school is accredited by the (PCTIA) and the Ontario Association of Career Colleges. In addition to classrooms, the campus has a 3,000-square-foot mechanic shop providing students with a learning environment that is virtually the same as an auto shop. Association for Women in Science


For women interested in pursuing an education rooted in the sciences, the Association for Women in Science offers a number of awards. In order to qualify for one of these awards, applicants should be enrolled in an undergraduate or doctoral program of study that falls within the categories of science, technology, engineering or mathematics. For undergraduates, an award of $1000 or $500 can be awarded, though students can only apply for one award. For doctoral students, the award amounts are the same. Google Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship


The Google Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship is the perfect opportunity for women interested in pursuing a degree in the technology-related field. The award is named after Dr. Anita Borg who devoted much of her life to ensuring that the barriers to women and minorities in technological sciences were dismantled. Both undergraduate as well as graduate students are eligible for the scholarships which are for $10,000. Talbots Women's Scholarship Fund

Interior designers need to be adept in fundamental concepts.








Interior designers are creative people with a keen understanding of the relationships between design elements such as color, line, space and lighting. An interior designer combines these elements to create dynamic and efficient residential and commercial spaces. Courses in interior design degree programs prepare students for entry-level positions as designers, space planners or merchandisers for architectural firms, design firms and corporations.


Design Fundamentals
