Pay careful attention during chemistry labs to prepare for the test.
The SAT II subject test for chemistry consists of 85 multiple-choice questions with a possible score of between 200 and 800 points. The 60-minute test uses the metric system and includes a periodic table but does not include any other equations or allow usage of a calculator.
Matter
The Sat II test for chemistry focuses greatly on the structure and states of matter. About 25 percent of the test covers the structure of matter while about 16 percent of the test covers states of matter. Structure of matter deals with what atoms look like, how they bond and pair and molecular shapes. The more atoms bonded, the more complex the shape. Common shapes include linear, triagonal planer and tetrahedral. You must now every shape, its angles and how many bonds are connected to the central atom. States of matter deals with boiling and melting points and the differences between solids, liquids and gases.
Reaction and Equations
About 14 percent of the test covers reaction types. This includes nuclear reactions and what happens during a chemical reaction to change atoms. Nuclear reaction questions may deal with radioactivity, half-lives and the difference between fission and fusion. About 5 percent of the test deals with equilibrium, sometimes known as balancing equations. It also deals with rate of reactions, or how fast reactions occur given a set of circumstances.
Stoichiometry and Thermochemistry
Stoichiometry deals with the math of equations. It is a part of balancing equations, and it involves calculation of how much of one substance an equation forms. In order to understand stoichiometry, you must know the ideal gas law and understand molecular mass. Thermochemisty deals with the release of energy during an equation. Both of these concepts typically deal with mathematical concepts. About 14 percent of the test deals with stoichiometry and about 6 percent of the test deals with thermochemisty.
Descriptive and Laboratory Chemistry
Descriptive chemistry involves the physical properties of chemicals, such as their appearance, smell and temperature. Laboratory chemistry deals with lab safety, appropriate lab procedures and may include diagrams of experiments or equipment. Descriptive chemistry makes up about 12 percent of the test while laboratory chemistry makes up about 8 percent of the test. These two subjects are best studied for during labs and practical exams, in which you can view chemicals and watch reactions.
Forumlas
The only item allowed in the Sat II test for chemistry is a pencil and eraser. Though the test includes a periodic table, it does not include any of the formulas you need to know to create equations or determine molecular mass. Memorize Boyle's law and the ideal gas equation. For an easier time, write these equations down on the scratch paper as soon as you enter the test.

Before being admitted to medical school, students must write a personal statement to include with their applications.
The pre-medical personal statement is written by pre-medical students wishing to gain acceptance into medical school. Students include this statement with their applications to be sent to different schools. Medical school admissions is exceptionally competitive and many applicants have high grade point averages (GPAs) and high scores on the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT). Because all applicants are well qualified, a personal statement gives admissions boards a chance to get to know applicants better and to ensure that applicants are well-rounded.
Instructions
1. Address your personal statement. Your personal statement should be written like a letter to admissions boards. Include your return address and the address of the school's admissions office.
2. Introduce yourself in your letter. Your introduction should include your name and educational background.
3. Explain why you want to be a physician. Let the admissions board know what brought you to the realization that you wanted to be a physician. Explain how you think the career will be rewarding for you personally and why you think you will make a good physician. Include examples from your life to convince the admissions board that you are well suited to be a physician.
4. Outline any paid or volunteer medical experience. Experience in the field before entering medical school shows that you are dedicated to the idea of becoming a physician and that you have some idea of what it takes to work in the field.
5. Inform the admissions board of your passions and dedications. Dedication to things other than school and medicine show admissions boards that you are well-rounded.
6. Set yourself apart from other applicants. Explain to the admissions board what makes you a unique applicant. If you have distinctive talents, hobbies or experiences, explain them in your statement. Also, include any challenges or obstacles you have overcome to make it to medical school.
7. Edit your statement. Ensure that your statement is free of grammatical and spelling errors. In addition to learning about you, admissions boards want to know that you can write well and effectively present your ideas.

With its Ivy League reputation, Columbia University is a well-known establishment with colleges throughout Manhattan dedicated to different career pursuits. In recent years, two of Columbia's branches began offering a total of 30 professional certificates, master's and doctoral degrees online: the Fu Foundation School of Engineering, and the Teacher's College. Accounting exams can be challenging, testing many concepts and involving a lot of calculation. Exams may include multiple-choice questions, true-false questions or word problems to be solved. Many exams are a combination of all of these and are designed to test both the theory and practice of accounting. Some testing sites allow the use of a calculator, so it makes sense to bring one.
Highlight
If allowed by the test giver, use a highlighter to mark the important items in a problem. Many times superfluous information is added to the problem that can cause confusion. Highlight dates, numbers and other pertinent information. This helps you pay attention to the problem and not unimportant details. Don't highlight the entire problem, just numbers, dates and pertinent info.
Read Questions
Read the questions for each problem first, and then read the text. This is especially important on long problems, when you need to focus on the required data to get a correct answer. Otherwise you can spend too much time on items that are not important in the context of the question. For example, when a question is about depreciation expense, you need to focus on the information you need to get to that answer: Cost of asset, life, salvage value and dates.
Recalculate
Be careful with your calculations, even if you use a calculator. Make sure to account for dates when answering questions. Often accounting problems are about timing and calculate numbers based on dates. Pay a lot of attention to exactly what is asked, and make a point of recalculating all your answers if you have time at the end of the test. It is easy to forget that interest, for example, was supposed to be calculated on three months only and not the entire year, but your original calculations were for a year---a common mistake.
Do the Easiest First
Identify the problems you know solve and do them first. This is good time management. Once you get the easy ones out of your way, focus on the more difficult ones. If you do problems in sequence, you may spend too much time on complicated problems and may not have enough time for the rest.
Read the problem and see if you can do it right away. If you have to think or wonder too much, move on to the next problem.

Many people in Taiwan are fluent in both Mandarin and Taiwanese.
Taiwan is an island off the southeastern coast of China with a population of about 23 million. Though the official language of Taiwan is Mandarin Chinese, many Taiwanese speak and regularly use the Taiwanese language. Taiwanese is related to several other languages in the southern province of mainland China. You can find online courses, dictionaries and resources for learning about the Taiwanese language and culture. You can even use websites to find language partners in your community to help you learn Taiwanese.
Instructions
1. Take an online course in Taiwanese. You can find online language courses for instruction in Taiwanese, some of which are free. Look on the website Omniglot for a list of online Taiwanese lessons and language resources. You can also find native speakers online with whom you can practice. Exchanging English instruction for Taiwanese is an economical alternative to paying for a private tutor. Find a language partner on LiveMocha, MyLanguageExchange, or Meetup.
Be clear that you are interested in a language partner who speaks the Taiwanese dialect. Remember that Mandarin is the official language of Taiwan, so emphasize that you are interested in learning Taiwanese and not Mandarin.
2. Practice the tones. Learning the pronunciation of tonal languages can be especially tricky. Tones are the the "rising" and "falling" sound of the voice; (think of the way the voice "rises" at the end of a question in English). In Taiwanese, the tones indicate the actual meaning of the word, rather than the context of the word or mood of the speaker, as in English. The key to mastering tones is repetition; listen to and repeat the tones of Taiwanese words and phrases so you can get used to the pronunciation. Exaggerate the sounds of the tones as you begin your learning process, as this will make the sounds more clear to you.
3. Practice reading and writing. Taiwanese is written using either the Latin alphabet or the Chinese script. If you are not already familiar with the Chinese script, learning with the Latin alphabet will be much easier and less time-consuming. However, you will need to learn the way the letter combinations represent the sounds specifically used in Taiwanese. 1. Before you even start filling out the free budget worksheets you and your spouse or partner need to be committed to budget planning accurately and faithfully. Sticking to a budget will only work if everyone is willing to play the budget game.
2. You can print free budget worksheets from the internet or use one as a guide to make your own in a program like Excel. Free printable budget worksheets are easier if you've never followed a budget before because you can put them on your refrigerator or somewhere where you won't forget to fill them in. There are tons of websites that offer budget sheets. Some calculate expenses, others income and many are for both. 3. Once you've printed the budget worksheets you'll need to gather your pay stubs (and any other statements of income, ie stocks, rent, ehow) and all the bills you paid last complete month. Get all the statements from your utilities, credit cards, debit cards, child care, mortgage, insurance, student or other loans, cell phone, internet and cable bills, memberships (ie gym), any donations you may have made including to a church or other charity and any other bills you paid. One way to make this easier, in the future, is to set it up so the majority of your bills are billed to your credit card. This way, you'll have fewer checks to write and everything will be on one statement. For more on set this up (and even make money in the process) see the link in the Resources Section below.
4. Starting filling in the budget worksheet by inserting the monthly expenses that remain the same every month. This will include, but is not limited to, your mortgage/rent, insurance, child care, membership fees, loans, cable, internet and possibly your cell phone bills.
5. Next fill in the budgeted amount, based off last month, for items that vary by month with the exception of your credit and debit cards. This will include, but is not limited to, donations, gifts, medical expenses like prescriptions and copays, and utility bills (one way to make it easier to budget utilities is to enroll in your utility company's "budget plan" so that each month you pay the same amount whether it's summer or winter). Do not include your credit or debit card as one large expense.
6. Now take each of your credit card statements and add up all like items such as four gas purchases for a total of $125 and 5 grocery store runs for a total of $800. Look over the free budget worksheet to see if you can lump anything else together from your credit card statement. Perhaps you went out to dinner twice and took the kids to a movie. Add those items up and put the total in the "entertainment or recreation" slot.
7. If there is any amount you still haven't filled in on your budget worksheet don't guess the amount (your best guess and the actual amount are likely at least slightly different) go back to the last time you paid that expense and fill it in. If it's something like property taxes, car repairs, school supplies or pet care that you only pay a few times a year take the total amount from the previous year divide by 12 months and list that as the monthly expense. You're going to save that amount every month in a special account so you have it when the time comes to pay the bill.
8. If your printable budget sheets don't include it already, write in a category for "savings." Even if you can only save $25 a month savings should be listed as an expense. You should never count on "whatever's left over" as your monthly savings. You risk not contributing anything to your savings account if you do it this way. 9. Once you have your entire budget worksheet filled in, add up the total amount and list it at the bottom as your total expenses.
10. Pull out all of your income source statements and add up those totals. If you get quarterly bonuses that you draw on to pay the bills monthly, add up the yearly total from the previous year and divide by 12 to get the monthly income. If you deposit them right into a savings account and don't use them to pay monthly bills don't include them in your budget. Write the total income amount above your total expense number.
11. Subtract your total monthly expenses from your total monthly income. Hopefully it's not a negative number. If it is you're spending more money than you're bringing in. If this is the case go back through your monthly expenses and see where you can trim. Can you scale back on your charitable donations by 25%, carpool to work to save on gas, or cut your food budget by using coupons? (See the links in the Resources Section below for save the most when using grocery coupons and where to find free online grocery coupons).
Sororities have been an integral part of college campus life for generations, so coming up with something fresh and original for party ideas is anything but easy. Have everyone get an envelope with clues to who the murderer is and how it was done.

Try out a place-themed party. Have a beach party where grass skirts and Sex on the Beach cocktails are served. Have a Martgueritaville party and play Jimmy Buffet songs and drink frozen Margueritas. Try an another planet party where everyone dresses like aliens and you make drinks that are green and the best costumes get the prizes. You could choose a Mexican, Caribbean, Roman Holiday or Aussie Outback party theme. Choose costumes that fit the place and serve food and drinks from them. Make sure everyone knows the colors, the foods and something of the culture when you invite them--put a little letter in the invitations with the information.

Plan a period party. Choose a Roaring Twenties theme where gangsters and molls dress up and have a Charleston contest, or or have a Woodstock Festival party from the 1960s. Everyone could wear white shirts and draw a clue or write a word or two about the party with markers. Although Sadie Hawkins parties are not a new idea, you can make it new by having each girl invite two guys who then have to fight to win their date with speeches, poems, great date plans and daring tasks. The winners get to sit by the girls and the losers have to wait on them.
Features
Try something truly different, like an Amelia Earhart party where you have contests for the best paper airplane design and the one that flies the best. The winners can get lost forever when cleanup time comes. Or do an Albert Einstein party where everyone has to present what they believe to be their own personal theory of relativity about life. The winner gets an honorary Ph.D. Have an Elvis party where everyone dresses up like a person from one of his songs.
Geography
Decorate the whole house in an around the world theme, making each room a different country or continent. Serve food and drinks from each county, such as Coronas and nachos for Mexico and saki and eggrolls for Japan. Use the flag colors for decorations and add little bios of the country's most famous or infamous persons and have everyone vote on the best foods and drinks.
Potential
Plan your party around one or more games. A "Cranium" party is really funny because you have to sing, play with clay and answer trivia questions all in one game. You can play teams or have several games on hand. Winners get to eat first and losers have to clean up. You can also play "Trivial Pursuit, "Charades," "Pictionary" or any other game that lends itself to crowds. Try an "American Idol" karaoke contest or a "So You Think You Can Dance" bash.

Writers often wonder if bulleted lists require the same punctuation rules as sentences or paragraphs. Bulleted lists have their own punctuation rules. There are two types of bulleted lists, ordered and unordered. An ordered list just means that your list is numbered; unordered lists are not numbered--they do not need to follow a linear order. Unordered bulleted lists contain some type of bullet symbol instead of a number.
Instructions
1. Read your bullet point to find a noun and a verb. If you cannot find both a noun and a verb, or if your bullet point is a sentence fragment, you do not need punctuation.
2. Punctuate your bulleted lists with standard punctuation, such as periods, if your bullet lists contain full sentences.
3. Read all of the bullet points. If you find a combination of sentence fragments that you do not punctuate and full sentences that you do punctuate, you have a choice of treat the bulleted list. You can either punctuate all items, sentences and fragments, or move the complete sentence to the end of the list and punctuate only the last point.
4. Know your audience. Some business clients or companies that you work for may perceive that all bulleted lists require punctuation. If so, smile and punctuate all the fragments because "The customer is always right." Doesn't it feel good to know the rules, even if not everyone else does?

1. Write ellipsis marks correctly by writing them as a set of three periods, each separated from the material around them by a space. If the ellipsis marks come at the end of a sentence, you still need to end the sentence with a period after the ellipses.
2. Alert readers to the fact that you've dropped material from a quote by using ellipsis marks. You don't need to do this if you've dropped material from the beginning or end of a quote, but you do need to when you drop material from the middle of the quote. The sentence must still follow grammar rules when you add ellipsis marks.
3. Show that you've dropped one or more paragraphs in a long quotation or reprinted article by including ellipsis marks at the end of the preceding paragraph. The ellipses go after the last punctuation mark.
4. Use ellipsis marks to indicate a pause or interruption of a thought or a pause in a sentence's flow. This is especially useful for recording dialogue or for creating a stylistic effect within your sentence.

Certification is voluntary for landscape technicians and designers.
If you've been working in the landscaping field for a few years and have experience under your belt, you may want to go the extra mile by becoming an industry-certified landscape technician, landscape designer or landscape architect. While a degree in horticulture or completing an apprenticeship with a master designer are recommended by national landscape associations to further certification goals, training is also available to guide you in the right direction.
Instructions
Landscape Industry Certified Technician
1. Become a member of the Landscape Contractors Association (LCA) and look into its Landscape Industry Technician certification program. Boost your landscaping skills, get national recognition, and invest in your landscaping career by becoming certified through a nationally recognized association.
2. Prepare for LCA's grueling certification exam by registering for its hands-on and lecture-based training sessions covered over two full Saturdays. Contact the LCA to get a registration packet and submit it by the deadline date.
3. Have at least 4,000 hours experience working as a landscaper, 2,000 hours working as a landscaper plus a two- or four-year industry degree, or 1,000 hours working as a landscaper, a two- or four-year industry-related degree, and have completed an internship program, to be eligible to take the landscaper technician certification test.
4. Apply for LCA's certification exam way before the date of the test so that you can adequately prepare for it. Receive the exam booklet, and buy the study guide recommended by the LCA.
5. Complete the problems contained in the written Common Core exam covering softscape installation, hardscape installation, turf maintenance or ornamental maintenance. Successfully complete all the problems contained in the field test covering all four categories. Applicants must also provide a sample installation or maintenance landscaping project in order to pass.
Professional Landscape Designer Certification
6. Join the Association of Professional Landscape Designers (APLD) and consider becoming certified as a Professional Landscape Designer. As of 2010, "20 percent of APLD members are certified." The APLD landscape design certification is the only one of its kind in the United States.
7. Become eligible for the landscape designer certification by being a current associate member of the APLD and have at least four years experience working in landscape design. At least one year of related education is required, such as courses in residential landscape design, drawing, construction and maintenance, and plant materials.
8. Submit your application by the first of January, March, August or November. Obtain an application online from the APLD website. Provide three complete landscape projects that include a mix of trees, shrubs, perennials and ground covers.
9. Submit a planting plan drawn to scale, a complete plant list, a design intent statement, a business statement, and before-and-after photographs showing your three landscape designs after two growing seasons.
10. Send your application and a nonrefundable fee to the APLD certification committee by the deadline imposed. You can pay by check or credit card. You'll have to pay a higher fee if you want your submission returned to you. The certification panel will review your submission and certify you if everything is accepted and complete.

Preschool assistant teaching is a hands-on position working with children ages 3 to 5.
While the lead teacher is the engine that makes the preschool class go, the assistant is the fuel. He is flexible, has a variable workload and is available to take on both new and regular tasks at the lead teacher's request. A teaching assistant gains extensive knowledge and experience in how a classroom is run and sees first-hand what would be required of him if he chooses to further his career in preschool teaching.
Teaching Duties
Assistant teachers help the lead teacher in planning activities, giving instruction and checking on the progress of the students with their assignments. When the lead teacher is out sick or on vacation, the assistant often will take on all teaching duties of the classroom. The assistant's ability to understand and engage with the lesson planning and implementation is essential in the classroom.
Supervision Duties
During work and play, especially on the playground, assistant teachers observe the children to ensure their safety. They will step in to discipline, if needed, in the manner discussed with the lead teacher. Office Duties

Evaluation Duties
Assistant teachers will participate in evaluation of the students on a daily, weekly and semester basis. He will assist in end-of-term evaluations and parent conferences as needed. The assistant teacher's daily interaction with the students is integral in accurate evaluation of progress of each student. Assistant teachers will not be the main contact with parents, but must be aware of all students' current progress to assist the lead teacher in educating the children.

The GED (General Educational Developmental) certificate, is equivalent to a high school diploma and the exam measures a person’s knowledge and high-school level academic skills. The GED exam consists of five different sections including social studies, science, mathematics and language arts (both reading and writing tests). A person can register and take the GED exam, if he did not receive a high school diploma. Many people take this test in order to get a better job or to further their education. Luckily, there are several ways in which you can prepare for the GED examination.
Instructions
1. Visit the counseling center at a local college or university. You can speak with an academic or career counselor (or advisor) about the GED examination. The counselor can provide you with information about the GED exam and also inform you better prepare for it.
2. Purchase a GED preparation book. There are a variety of GED preparation books (study guides) and you can purchase one at practically any bookstore, such as Barnes and Noble or Walden Books. You can purchase a comprehensive book (which covers all 5 subjects on the GED exam) or a specialized book, which focuses on just one particular subject. The GED prep book should also include practice tests along with an answer key, in order to help you prepare for the exam. Be sure to buy a recent study guide.
3. Register for a GED preparation course. You can take a GED prep course through the continuing education department at a local college. You can also take online courses by visiting a test prep website such as GED for Free.com.
4. Get a tutor to help you prepare for the exam. You can locate a tutor though a local college or by visiting a learning center such as Sylvan Learning Center or Huntington Learning Center. Be sure to let the tutor know which subjects you need the most help with.
5. Sign-up for the GED Connection program through Literacy Link. This program prepares you for the GED exam by using video programs, print and online computer technology. Since reading is a complex skill with many facets, a good reading program is important to students' success. It is as important to consider how you will teach each skill as it is to think about what to teach. Once you have made decisions about the content and methodology that will best benefit your students, you can find curricular materials and activities to support your decisions.
Instructions
Scope and Sequences
1. Evaluate your students' present reading skills. An informal reading inventory (a test involving reading passages at various grade levels and responding to comprehension questions) is a very versatile tool for this task. In fact, it is recommended by Dr. Joseph K. Torgesen, researcher and professor of psychology at Florida State University, as being the most detailed and flexible of all common reading tests. Information from an informal reading inventory lends itself to error analysis to isolate specific phonics, word analysis and comprehension skills that are problematic for a given student.
2. Familiarize yourself with the skills that students in your program need to learn and the general order of their presentation. Scope and sequences resources are available from your school's curriculum company, your state or government grade level standards and benchmarks, or reputable curriculum publishers.
3. Develop a plan of periodic assessment to ensure that students are making adequate progress toward the reading goals you have set. Students who fall short of your preset benchmarks will need to participate in appropriate remedial exercises to catch up with the group.
Methods and Materials
4. Plan to accommodate an array of learning styles. The International Reading Association's position statement supports using evidenced-based instructional methods, those whose success has been demonstrated by sound research, that have been shown to be effective for teaching reading.
5. Find materials that match the needs of your learners. Develop a sequence of lessons based on these materials that will allow your students to meet the requirements of your program. These might be within a commercial curriculum or might be assembled from a variety of sources. The important point is that the materials and activities you choose should lead directly to achievement of the objectives from your chosen scope and sequences and that you should have an array of activities that will meet students' instructional needs.
6. Create periodic assessment tools that you can use to determine if your students are meeting your objectives. Plan to evaluate student progress at least three times throughout the school year, with more frequent evaluation options for students who are struggling to meet standards.
7. Design remedial lesson sequences to build the skills of struggling students identified by your periodic group assessments. End each sequence with a re-evaluation of the skills in question, so you have evidence that the student has mastered the material and is ready to return to learning in the mainstream with the majority of their peers.

A lipid panel, which is sometimes known as a lipid profile, is a blood test that measures for high cholesterol or fat. Cholesterol is an important substance that provides support to the outer membrane of the cell, but too much cholesterol can also be dangerous. When a lipid panel is administered, your doctor may recommend fasting for the most accurate results.
Lipid Panels
A total lipid panel tests for levels of low-density lipoprotein (LDL, or "bad" cholesterol), high-density lipoprotein (HDL, or "good" cholesterol) and triglycerides (the form that most fat takes within the body). The panel is a good indicator of risk of coronary heart disease due to blocked blood vessels or hardened arteries. Healthy adults with no risk factors should take the test every five years. High-risk patients may prefer to monitor levels more closely.
Fasting
Lipid testing is usually administered by drawing blood from a vein in the arm. A drop of blood through a punctured fingertip may also be used for portable devices. Because food or drink may alter the level of cholesterol in the blood, patients are usually asked to fast before a total lipid panel, although different facets of a lipid test may have slightly different requirements.
Length
Fasting is usually started between nine and 12 hours before blood is drawn. It can also be started the night before and continue during sleep, depending on when the test is scheduled. Triglyceride tests, for instance, are often administered after an overnight fast.
Food or Drink
No food or drink should be taken within the fasting period except for water. Not all substances will have a profound affect on lipid levels, but it is important to be safe rather than compromise the test. The final meal before a fast should be light and low in fat. If you must take medication within the fasting period, consult your doctor.
After the Test
Following the test, your doctor may advised that you eat a light, healthy meal to ease your way back into a regular eating schedule. Results of the test may take a week or more. Consult with your doctor if you have any questions or if it is necessary to do a follow-up test.

Choosing the right college or university is a big responsibility. Many factors play a role in your decision, including location, programming, class size and, of course, tuition. Penn State
Incoming freshmen at Penn State University who are state residents can expect to pay around $6,200 per semester as of 2011, depending on major, campus and number of credit hours. This does not include extra fees, books or living expenses. Out-of-state tuition jumps to $9,494. If you add room and board, meals and fees, a non-resident freshman will pay around $15,340 a semester.
University of Pittsburgh
A freshman can expect to pay around $14,076 per semester at Pitt with non-residents paying around $23,730. Some majors cost more. To enter the pharmacy program, the school's most expensive undergraduate program, a resident freshman will pay $21,526 a semester. Room and board add another $9,250, depending on room size. The university also recommends a $1,000 allowance for books per academic year.
Pennsylvania College of Art and Design
PCA&D offers a full-time program (12 to 18 credit hours) at $17,200 per year. All students are required to buy an Apple laptop and digital camera before entering the program, adding $3,300 to the first-year costs. The college also estimates $1,375 per year for books and art supplies. PCA&D does not offer on-campus housing and estimates living costs to be around $7,750 per year with another $3,100 in commuter costs, including parking.
Community College of Philadelphia
Tuition at the Community College of Philadelphia depends on resident status. Tuition for Philadelphia residents, as of 2011, is $128 per credit hour, or $1,920 per semester for 15 credit hours. Tuition for other state residents is $256 per credit hour, or about $3,840 per semester. For non-residents, tuition is $384 per credit hour, or about $5,760 per semester. Books and supplies add an estimated $1,100 per year.

Texas nursing students have a variety of choices in Arlington.
Licensed vocational nurses, registered nurses, and nurses aides provide nursing care at the direction of physicians. The practice of nursing is based on concepts from the physical, biological, and behavioral sciences. Each state has its own requirements, so the scope of practice varies from state to state. Many colleges in Texas offer nursing classes that lead to either RN, LVN or nurse aide license upon graduation. University Program
The University of Texas at Arlington College of Nursing is one of the state's largest nursing schools with an annual enrollment of about 4,000 students seeking careers in a health-related field. The college recently enabled on-line classes for continuing education. The school offers a full choice of nursing degrees, including doctoral programs. A new, unconventional teaching method called Smart Hospital, a simulated, state-of-the-art hospital that allows students to learn using simulation technology is currently being used. Full-body patient simulators, scenario-based programs and simulated trainers allow students to experience a real hospital setting while still on campus.
Career College
Concorde Career Colleges has campuses located in seven states. Arlington is the site for one of three Texas campuses. The college offers students general education, nursing theory, and clinical practice. Studies are accelerated and offered year-round, preparing students for state board exams in 15 to 18 months, rather than the traditional two to three years. More complex concepts in patient care and specialty nursing areas such as mental health, maternal-child nursing and care of pediatric patients are also offered. The studies lead to an Associate of Applied Science, Applied Science or nurses aide certification.
Satellite Campus
Northlake College, in nearby Irving, is a Dallas County community college offering a two-year course of study. Northlake serves as a satellite campus to El Centro College in Dallas. At the end of a two-year course of study at Northlake, you will receive an Associate's Degree in Nursing from El Centro College. Either campus offers study toward an associate's degree.
Private College
Platt College, located in nearby Dallas, opened in 2005, and is one of six private campuses. While five Platt campuses are located in Oklahoma, the Dallas campus is the only one located in Texas, and is fully certified by Texas nursing practitioner requirements. Platt College offers associate degrees in occupational studies in practical nursing and science, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Platt offers grants, scholarships and loans to qualified nursing candidates.

Students who require financial aid to attend college must fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or "FAFSA." The federal government uses the FAFSA to determine whether a student is eligible to receive grant funds, and schools require students fill out the FAFSA in order to qualify for financial aid. You can save time by filling out the FAFSA over the Internet.
Instructions
1. Collect your personal information. In order to fill out the FAFSA on-line, you must have your driver's license number, your Social Security Number, and financial information, such as bank account information and tax information.
2. Fill out the "FAFSA on the Web Worksheet." The "FAFSA on the Web Worksheet" contains all of the information that must be submitted on-line, and is used to make the on-line submission process easier for you. The worksheet requires you provide information regarding: your citizenship status, your marital status, your Social Security Number, your driver's license number, whether you have been convicted of drug offenses, whether you have registered for the Selective Services, your parents, your dependency status, and your finances.
3. Complete the FAFSA application. Using the information that you supplied on the "FAFSA on the Web Worksheet," enter the information into the FAFSA application. The application is guided, and requires you enter certain information at particular steps.
4. Submit the FAFSA. Once you have completed the FAFSA application on the Internet, you must submit the form. You have two options for signing the FAFSA, you may request a personal identification number, or "PIN," from the Department of Education to sign the form over the Internet, or you may print, sign, and mail a "Signature Page." The PIN can be applied for in the FAFSA application.

Becoming a veterinarian in the U.S. requires a four-year accredited college program usually undertaken following an undergraduate degree in science.
In order to become an accredited veterinarian in the United States, you must complete a four-year Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program from an accredited college. There are currently 28 schools in the United States accredited by the American Veterinary Medicine Association. Rankings of veterinary schools are rare because there are so few schools to compare; however, in 2007, U.S. News and World Report listed the top schools for veterinary medicine.

Jump-start your career faster with an accelerated degree.
Several accelerated baccalaureate degree programs exist for working adults who want to advance professionally, and for young adults who wish to start their careers as soon as possible. Some programs allow you to apply prior course work or life experience as course credit toward degree requirements. Though accelerated baccalaureate degree programs exist in different forms, most offer you the opportunity to complete your degree requirements within three years.
Accelerated Degree Programs
Some baccalaureate degree programs allow you to take more courses in a shorter length of time in order to graduate in three years. Summer course work is required to meet credit hour requirements for graduation. Acceptance into these programs can require students to meet a set of minimum criteria, including exceptional scores on standardized tests and a minimum high school grade point average.
Work and Life Experience Bachelor Degree Programs
Obtaining a baccalaureate degree at some colleges can be made easier through work and life experience credit. Some institutions offer the College Level Examination Program (CLEP) for adults who have been in the workforce for a period of time but have not obtained a baccalaureate degree. Work experience, on-the-job training, independent study and prior college courses taken can be applied to meet degree requirements. The college course credit and minimum qualification requirements vary by institution, but literature, writing, government, management and psychology are just a few of the courses where credit can be given.
Advance Placement
Universities often offer course credit toward a bachelor's degree for advance placement or college credit courses taken in high school. These classes substitute for college credit and help you reach your degree faster. The advance placement courses are most commonly applied at the freshman level required courses. The amount of course credit and application to a baccalaureate degree depend on the specific institution and the scores received on high school advance placement testing.
Competency-Based Programs
Competency-based programs are designed for working adults without the time to attend regularly scheduled college classes. The course work is centered around students studying the knowledge and core competencies included in their area of expertise. Competency-based programs allow students to accelerate the degree process by demonstrating their competency in subject areas through assessment. The curriculum of a competency-based program includes experience-based education, role playing and other application of knowledge and experience through demonstration. Students may be assessed through completing assignments, writing papers or passing online exams.

Although most students enroll in law school after graduating from college, others do not enter law school until well into their adulthood. Consequently, most law schools now offer part-time and night courses to accommodate non-traditional students. Like recent college graduates, adults who wish to enter law school must register with the Law School Admission Council (LSAC), take the Law School Admission Test (LSAT), obtain recommendations, choose the right schools and complete an application.
Instructions
1. Register with the LSAC. Anyone applying to an American law school must do so through the Law School Admission Council since it standardizes transcripts, keeps track of recommendations, processes applications and handles misconduct cases. To register, visit the Law School Admission Council's website, create an account and pay the $123 registration fee.
2. Take the LSAT. The LSAT is a 4-hour exam that American law school applicants must take. For most schools, the LSAT score is the single greatest indicator of whether the applicant is admitted or rejected. Purchase LSAT preparation books and practice tests from a local bookstore, Amazon or the LSAC's website. Start studying for the LSAT 4 to 6 months in advance.
3. Request transcripts from all post-secondary institutions you attended. Contact every college you attended after graduating from high school and ask them to send an official transcript to the LSAC. You must submit all transcripts, even if you only took one class. Failure to do so could spark a misconduct and irregularities charge against you by the LSAC. The LSAC will standardize your transcript and average your GPA from all the colleges you attended. The new GPA is called the LSDAS GPA.
4. Get two to three recommendations. If you graduated from college in recent years, it should not be difficult to obtain a recommendation from a professor. However, if you have been out of school for many years, you may not be able to track down former professors. In that case, get recommendations from past and current employers.
5. Choose the schools to which you want to apply. There are many factors to consider when selecting schools, such as cost, location, flexibility of programs and prestige. Decide which factors are most important to you and select schools based on them. Apply to a combination of safety, match and reach schools. Safety schools are schools that should admit you since your LSAT score and undergraduate GPA is above the school's average. Match schools might admit you since your GPA and LSAT score matches the school's average. Reach schools, such as Ivy League law schools, might reject you since your undergraduate GPA and LSAT score falls below the school's average. It's a good idea to apply to reach schools since they are usually prestigious and generous with financial aid.
6. Complete and verify the LSAC's common law school application. After registering with the LSAC, you will find a general application for all law schools United States. Complete it and verify that your information is correct. The LSAC will copy this application and send it to any law school that you want. Some schools, such as Yale, have supplementary forms that you must complete.

LMS administrators teach instructors use software.
A learning management systems (LMS) administrator trains instructors who use computer software to teach students or other employees. LMS administrators are employed by a wide range of industries, from education to human resources to publishing.
Basics
LMS administrators must have a through knowledge of the training software being used by instructors. They sometimes develop the software themselves. Either way, the key for LMS administrators is to ably explain how the software is best used in a teaching setting, as well as troubleshoot the software.
Skills
LMS administrators have to possess excellent communication skills, capably passing on their knowledge of the information system being used by their company. They need to be organized, motivated, analytical and focused, with strong computer, grammar and mathematical skills.
Qualifications
Requirements to become an LMS administrator vary by company. Many companies require a bachelor's degree in computer-related studies, while others value relevant experience as much as a formal education.
The Labour Party is a major political party in Great Britain that follows a democratic socialist ideology. The party, currently led by Gordon Brown, was founded shortly after the start of the 20th century. It has been the ruling party in Britain since 1997, when it won its first general election victory in 23 years under the leadership of Tony Blair.
Origins
The Labour Party, as its name suggests, grew out of the labour movement of the early Industrial Age, when factory and other blue-collar workers banded together in trade unions to campaign for fair treatment and wages. Working people, union organizers and socialists came together at a founding conference in London in February 1900 and created the Labour Representation Committee, which for the next 16 years worked closely with Liberal Party governments to further labour's cause. Indeed, for the first six years of its life, Labour wasn't even an official party; that designation wouldn't come until 1906.
Early Rule
When the Liberal Party split in 1916, Labour partisans seized the opportunity to fill what they perceived as a void. The party steadily gained momentum, and seats in Parliament. Then, in 1924, the ruling Conservative Party (known as Tories) lost nearly 90 seats, and its leader, Stanley Baldwin, felt that without the mandate he had desired, he would refrain from forming a government. Though Labor had won 57 fewer seats than the Tories, George V, the king of England, asked Labour leader Ramsay MacDonald to form a government. The first Labour government, which took office in January 1924, lasted less than a year, but during that time achieved several key objectives, including passing legislation on housing, education, unemployment and social insurance. But after the Daily Mail newspaper published false accusations linking Labour with Russian communists, Labour fell from grace, and the Tories returned to power. Five years later, Labour was back in charge, but rising unemployment and a troubled economy--both fallout from the worldwide economic collapse of 1929--put them out of power again in 1931.
The 1930s and 1940s
Labour Party leaders worked hard to rebuild the party after the crushing 1931 defeat. As World War II broke out and Winston Churchill became prime minister, Labour was invited to join the government in a war-time coalition. After the war, Labour's call, "Let Us Face the Future," caught on with voters hungry for change, and Labour won a landslide victory in 1945 that for the first time ever gave it a true majority in Parliament.
The 1950s and 1960s
The Labour Party's own website concedes that by 1950, the party "appeared to have run out of steam," even though it had achieved most of its goals from the "Let Us Face the Future" campaign. The economy again took a turn for the worse, and Labour got the blame. The Tories triumphed in the 1951 elections, and Labour would remain an opposition party for 13 years. In 1964, new party leader Harold Wilson guided Labour to a narrow victory over the Conservatives, thanks in large part to a series of scandals. Wilson remained Prime Minister until 1970, pushing forth an agenda of modernization and social change not unlike U.S. President Lyndon Johnson's Great Society. Wilson's plan was called "The New Britain." Under Wilson, Britain's Parliament legalized abortion, divorce and homosexuality, and abolished capital punishment.
The 1970s and 1980s
The Conservatives won the elections again in 1970, defying pollster predictions and riding a wave of support for Conservative Party leader Edward Heath's vow to take Britain into the Common Market. But rising inflation and unemployment led the Tories to fall from power again in 1974. Wilson served two more years as prime minister, then resigned. Labour remained in power, but the worsening economy and a series of strikes by public and transportation workers led the Tories, under Margaret Thatcher, to regain control of government in 1979. Labour would again endure a long stint as an opposition party, this time for 18 years.
The 1990s and Beyond
After a series of internal struggles that saw Labour leadership zig-zagging from left to right and back again, Tony Blair, a member of Parliament since 1983, assumed control of the party in 1994 and, at a strategy conference a year later, called for a move to the center. His efforts were successful, and a kinder, gentler Labour Party won the 1997 elections in a landslide, winning by a majority of 179 seats. Blair's government introduced a national minimum wage, created 1 million jobs and cut class sizes in primary schools, according to the party website. Labour has been in charge ever since, though Blair's star, both domestically and abroad, dimmed with his unabashed support of the U.S. war with Iraq. Blair resigned in 2007 and was replaced, both as party leader and as prime minister, by Gordon Brown.
Gordon Brown
Gordon Brown was born in 1951 and studied at Edinburgh University, where he earned a Ph.D in history. Brown was elected to Parliament in 1983, representing an area of Scotland where he grew up and where his family roots go back 300 years, in Kirkcaldy. Brown also has authored a number of books, including a biography of Scottish socialist James Maxton, and co-authored a study of poverty and inequality.
