Accredited Interior Design Distance Learning Degrees

Interior architecture has become increasingly important in interior design education.

Online degrees allow students to pursue studies while continuing to work or meet other obligations. An online degree in interior design can lead to a promising career as an interior designer. Interior designers construct and design interior spaces that provide aesthetic appeal. Interior designers are now increasingly involved in interior architectural design as well. Online interior design schools offer students the opportunity to learn anywhere they can connect to the Internet.

The Art Institute of Pittsburgh

The Art Institute of Pittsburgh offers online degree programs in interior design that give students the assurance that their education is coming from an accredited and respected program in the academic community. The institute's degree programs have received regional accreditation from the Commission on Higher Education's Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. The Pennsylvania Department of Education has likewise granted the school the right to offer degree programs. The interior design program, which offers a Bachelor of Science degree, has received further accreditation from The Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA). The program places emphasis on entry-level training within the interior design profession. The program places extensive emphasis on various aspects of design, such as computer-aided drafting and design, architecture and space planning. It requires that 117 of its total 180 credit hours for the degree come from the interior design field. The remainder includes electives and general education credits.
