Naturopathic medicine universities
According to the National Center for Complimentary and Alternative Medicine, 38 percent of American adults and 12 percent of American children use some form of complimentary or alternative medicine on a regular basis. Naturopathic medicine aims to promote wellness and treat injuries and disease using the least invasive and most natural methods available. As of 2010, there are four post-secondary schools in the United States offering degree and certificate programs in naturopathic medicine. All are formally accredited by the Council of Naturopathic Medical Education.
Bastyr University
Bastyr University offers both undergraduate and graduate programs in naturopathic medicine, acupuncture and oriental medicine, nutrition, midwifery, health psychology, herbal sciences, exercise science and wellness and integrated human biology. Certificates in holistic landscape design and Chinese herbal medicine are also offered. Graduate students receive extensive clinical training at the Bastyr Center for Natural Health in Seattle.

National College of Natural Medicine
The National College of Natural Medicine is located in Portland, Oregon. The college offers three degree programs: a doctorate in naturopathic medicine, a Master of Science in Oriental Medicine and a Master of Acupuncture. All graduate degrees are four years in duration and include practical training in a clinical setting as well as theoretical and scientific course work. Certificate programs in homeopathy, midwifery, classical Chinese medicine, qigong and shiatsu are also offered.

Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine and Health Sciences
The Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine and Health Sciences (SCNM) is based in Tempe, Arizona. The college offers a four-year Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine degree program with extensive clinical training supervised by a licensed physician. SCNM also offers a range of courses open to non-degree-seeking individuals, addressing topics such as homeopathy, nutrition and diet detoxification, oriental medicine, hydrotherapy, botanical medicine and the philosophy and history of naturopathic medicine.

University of Bridgeport
Based in Bridgeport, Connecticut, the University of Bridgeport is a comprehensive university offering a variety of undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Its College of Naturopathic Medicine offers a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine degree program consisting of four years of study, including practical clinical training. The university also holds an Acupuncture Institute that offers a three-year Master of Science in Acupuncture.
