Texas colleges offer high quality educational experiences.
The state of Texas is home to a number of high quality colleges and universities. Some of these colleges are small private Christian colleges that provide students with exceptional educational opportunities. While some of these colleges provide students with a liberal arts education, others are more narrowly focused on Christian biblical studies or ministry.
Austin College
Austin College, located in Sherman, Texas, is a highly ranked college. In 2010, "U.S. News & World Report" ranked Austin College as the number 68 liberal arts college in the nation. Austin College is a private Christian college affiliated with the Presbyterian church. The college offers a number of different liberal arts degrees in fields such as anthropology, theater, education, philosophy, history, environmental studies, sports and exercise science, Chinese, Japanese, media studies, international economics and finance, and southwestern and Mexican studies.

Jarvis Christian College
Jarvis Christian College (JCC) in Hawkins, Texas, is a historically black Christian College affiliated with the Disciples of Christ denomination of the Christian church. Founded in 1913, JCC eventually received its accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Today the college offers a number of different degree programs through its two primary academic divisions. The division of arts and education offers degrees in English, religion, fine arts, music, history, and literature and languages. The business administration and science division offers degrees in science, math, sociology, biology, social justice and chemistry.

Criswell College
Criswell College in Dallas, Texas, is also a private Christian college. The school's Christian heritage comes from its association with the Southern Baptist Church. Founded in 1970, Criswell College received its accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools in 1985. Criswell College differs from Jarvis Christian College and Austin College in that its academic programs are specifically geared towards students wanting to specialize in some area of Christian ministry. All undergraduate majors at Criswell are in the field of biblical studies. Minors are offered various areas of specialization such as biblical languages, student ministry, humanities, Jewish studies and a number of related fields. The college offers master's degrees in Christian counseling, Christian leadership, theological and biblical studies, philosophy and Jewish ministry.
