Pick A School For The Fafsa

The college entered on the FAFSA form is a personal choice.

Picking a school for the FAFSA form is a personal choice. The FAFSA form does offer suggestions for picking the right school for every student, but the choice depends on the student. The decision should be made by the student and their personal support system, such as their parents. While the FAFSA offers advice on choosing schools and provides a list of school codes in the instructions, the FAFSA office understands the chosen school is the choice of the student.

Instructions

1. Assess yourself and your interests. Discover which careers will lead you to the most happiness and highlight your personal strengths.

2. Ensure the school you are interested in participates in Federal Student Aid programs; FAFSA money can only be distributed to these schools.

3. Research potential schools. Consider statistics such as graduation rates and job placement rates. Record the type of school; whether it is two year, four year, vocational or private career college. Calculate the total cost of each school from entrance to graduation.

4. Fill out the FAFSA form using the school code found in the FAFSA directions booklet.
