Remove Scratches From A Trombone

Polish mouth pieces before attaching.

Trombones are delicate brass instruments requiring lots of care. Remove scratches from your trombone to keep it shining bright. Polish your trombone on a regular basis and keep it away from areas or situations that may cause additional damage. Minor dents, for example, can result in preventing trombone slides to move properly. Always keep your trombone in a case lined with cushion for protection while storing or traveling with the instrument.

Instructions

1. Dampen a soft, clean rag with a lacquer thinner. Firmly rub the instrument with the rag. Use small, compact circular motions and back and forth movements to degrease the instrument and remove any residual metal sealer.

2. Polish the instrument with metal polish. Use a clean rag to apply the polish using the same pressure and motion as in step one. The polish will buff out minor scratches from the metal surface.

3. Spray or rub on a transparent protective coating. The protective coating will give the trombone a glossy shine and safeguard it from future scratches.
