Penn State Fayette offers scholarships to students.
Penn State Fayette's Eberly Campus is a satellite campus of Penn State University (PSU). Located in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, the university offers associate and bachelor degrees, as well as certificate and continuing education programs. To help degree-seeking students finance their education, the institution offers four types of financial aid: grants, scholarships, loans and work study. It's scholarship program offers merit and need-based awards.
Applying for Penn State Fayette Scholarships
All full-time, first-year students are eligible for general scholarships by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Some specific, merit-based scholarships may require additional information. Penn State University has five scholarship awarding agents: The Office of Student Aid, the Office for Disability Services, Faculty Senate, Academic Colleges and Penn State Campuses. This means that although you may be attending a satellite campus, in this case Fayette, you are also eligible for university-wide awards.
Scholarship Eligibility & Process
Approximately 50-percent of Fayette's academic scholarships are need based. Your financial need is determined by the FAFSA. Merit-based eligibility is determined by grade point average, class standing and other criteria established by the individual scholarship. Scholarships are awarded each spring. Students are notified of their awards through an award letter. Most scholarships are awarded for two semesters. Some scholarships are renewable for future years, while others require an annual application.
University Wide Scholarships
One of the advantages of attending one of PSU's campuses is that although you are not located in State College, you still have access to university-wide awards. All first-year students and upper-classmen are automatically considered for general university scholarships when applying for admission and financial aid. These opportunities are more competitive for first-year students. General scholarships are funded through the main campus of Penn State University.
Penn State Fayette Scholarships
Over $120,000 in academic scholarships is awarded annually to students enrolled at Fayette. In 2011 these financial awards ranged from $200 to $1,750. The awards are available through dozens of scholarships specific to the Fayette campus, and each scholarship has its own requirements. Most are need based, however, many have additional requirements, such as class year, class standing and other criteria. Many of these scholarships are made possible by donor support; these are named scholarships, such as the Eberly Family Fayette Campus Scholarship Fund and the Francis H.S. Hall Memorial Scholarship for Academic Excellence.
