A John Deere 318 with a snowplow assists with snow removal.
The John Deere 318 lawn tractor comes with a three-point hitch and hydraulic system that allows the use of special attachments, such as a garden plow or snowplow. Attaching a plow involves three attachment points using pins supplied with the hitch. This allows you to raise and lower the plow for optimal use.
Instructions
1. Move the long bar in the middle, or the drawbar, to the side so it does not strike the plow. Back the John Deere 318 tractor up to the plow and align the two bottom attachments, or draft arms, with the two outside attachment points on the plow.
2. Raise or lower the hydraulic lift and match the two draft arms with the height of the plow sides. Turn the engine off and set the parking brake on the tractor.
3. Wear gloves and attach the draft arms on each side of the tractor to the plow by inserting the pins and securing them with the clips.
4. Restart the tractor and raise the draft arms with the hydraulic lift control. Align the drawbar with the center area on the plow. Stop the engine and reset the parking brake.
5. Insert the pin into the drawbar and through the center attachment on the plow. Secure it with the clip.
Tips Warnings
Wear gloves while attaching or removing a plow. The clips are often strong and may close on your hand.
