Write a Demonstration Speech
A demonstration speech is an effective way to explain perform a task or describe the way something works. Teachers often use a demonstration speech to explain a learning process or implement a new program. Students are frequently required to write and give demonstration speeches to exercise their ability to write descriptively and learn to focus on a topic. Writing a demonstration speech can be stressful, but it does not need to be. These steps will help you write a focused, descriptive speech.
Instructions
1. Choose a topic in which you have experience and knowledge. Concentrating on something you know and are comfortable with will make writing the speech (and giving it) easier.
2. Consider your audience. Knowing whom you will be addressing can help you decide whether humor is appropriate, what approach you should take and what analogies will be comprehended and appreciated.
3. Open with a hook. Has the first line of a book or magazine article ever caught your attention in such a way that you had to read on? That is an example of a hook. Ask an interesting question that your speech will answer, or relate an anecdote that will catch everyone's attention. Make sure your introduction states what your audience will be learning.
4. Empower your audience with steps that are concise and comprehensive. They should feel as though they can take on the task you are describing, and even be inspired to do so.
5. Conclude with a summary of the speech. Encourage the audience that, by following your words, they will be able to perform the task or process on their own.
Tips Warnings
Use tools or props. Incorporate a PowerPoint slide show, graphs or even puppets. Again, by knowing your audience, you can determine the best types of tools to use.
