The LCD screen of your digital camera is a useful tool for viewing photos. Many cameras have this feature turned on by default so that photographers can review their photos immediately, but this can consume both batteries and time between shots. The Nikon D40 allows photographers to turn off this feature. When it is off, the LCD screen must be manually activated in order to view the LCD screen.
Instructions
1. Verify that the camera has a fresh battery. The LCD screen will not function without sufficient battery power.
2. Slide the camera's control knob to the ON position. This powers up the camera.
3. Press the triangle-shaped PLAY button to activate the LCD screen and access any photos stored on the memory card. If there are no photos or memory card inserted, press the MENU button to activate the LCD screen and view the menu controls.
