Apply To Miami Dade College

Miami is home to Miami Dade College, one of the largest institutions of higher education in the United States

Miami Dade College, formerly Miami Dade Junior College and then Miami Dade Community College, currently serves more than 170,000 students in eight campuses and several outreach centers, making it among the largest schools of higher education in the United States. After explosive growth in the 1960s, the college matured over the next few decades and has been offering bachelor's degrees since 2003. MDC has an online application process that is easily accessed by prospective students.

Instructions

1. Visit the Miami Dade College website and navigate to the "Miami Dade College" page (see Resources). Separate links will direct your application for associate's degrees (including College Credit Certificates and Career and Technical Education Certificates), bachelor's degrees, international students on F-1 visas, or non-credit study. You may also download a paper copy of the application for mailing purposes. (This option is also necessary for students who wish to attend MDC while still in high school.) Click on the appropriate link.

2. Choose "New Application." You will have the opportunity to save your work and complete the application later. Students who were previously admitted but did not take classes for one year should choose "Readmission."

3. Fill in the blanks with your personal information as directed through the application.

4. Provide your choice of major and degree. (You may change these later. Students often do). MDC provides more information on its programs of study in the Program Sheets site (see Resources).

5. Prove your Florida residency to qualify for in-state tuition rates. You will have to provide several pieces of documentation such as a driver's license number or transcripts from a Florida high school (see Resources for acceptable documents).

6. Choose which campus you would like to attend. Note that not all courses are offered on all campuses (see the Campus Finder in Resources for more details).

7. Pay the application fee.

8. Submit high school transcripts (and transcripts from other colleges attended, if applicable). This step is only necessary for students applying to bachelor's degree programs. You must contact your high school and request that the official transcripts be sent directly to Miami Dade College.
