Start your own fashion design business.
The purpose of a business plan is to take your business ideas and create the steps to turn them into a reality. A business plan is a crucial element because it provides the foundation for day-to-day tasks and establishes short- and long-term goals. If you have dreams of creating a fashion design company, a well-thought-out and well-written plan can turn your artistic talents into a rewarding business.
Instructions
1. Write the executive summary. The executive summary is the first page of a business proposal and should provide an overview of the entire proposal. You should include the purpose of your fashion design business as well as your mission and objectives. A reader should have a basic understanding of your proposal from reading the summary.
2. Describe the intended services and products. This is where you explain your fashion designs and why they are important. Ask yourself how your designs are unique and thoroughly describe the types of fashions you plan to design and market. For example, will you design formal gowns, costume jewelry or men's work clothes?
3. Compose a market/needs analysis. Explain who your target audience will be, including its demographics. Clearly explain the need for your service, and support it with well-researched information. Also describe any competing designers or businesses.
4. Write the organization and management section. Explain how you will run your fashion design business, including number of employees, what their job roles will be, who will manage production, and so on. Also include where you will purchase materials and equipment and where your designs will be produced.
5. Plan your strategy and implementation. This section of a business plan describes how you will market and advertise your business. Explain what advertising you will use (fliers, radio, brochures) and how you will disseminate it. Include the location and dates of any fashion shows.
6. Establish a financial plan. Include how you will fund your fashion design business. Will you apply for loans or grants? Be specific about where you will apply for any loans or grants you hope to get. Compose an annual budget that includes all financial needs and revenues.
7. Create the appendix. Neatly organize all graphs, charts and other relevant data at the end of the proposal.
