Many students pursue degrees in engineering in order to use their knowledge of science and math to solve real-world problems. Many scholarships are available to engineering students, and are designed both to assist with educational expenses and attract young engineers to specific fields of work.
JETS Next Generation Scholarship Fund
The Next Generation Scholarship Fund is offered jointly by the Junior Engineering Technical Society and "Power Engineering" magazine every year to one or more high school seniors who have enrolled in an engineering program and are interested in a career related to electrical power generation. The scholarship is in the amount of $5,000. Applicants must compose a short essay and submit a high school transcript. The annual deadline for application is May 1. AIST Foundation Scholarships
The Association For Iron and Steel Technology Foundation offers several different annual scholarships to engineering students interested in pursuing careers in the iron and steel industry. Available scholarships include the Benjamin F. Fairless Scholarship in the amount of $2,000, the Willy Korf Memorial Fund in the amount of $3,000, and the Ronald E. Lincoln Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $3,000. Application deadlines and eligibility rules vary by scholarship. Interested students should visit the AIST website for further information.

ASDSO Undergraduate Scholarships
The Association of State Dam Safety Officials offers several scholarships to undergraduates in civil engineering programs every year. According to the ASDSO websites, civil engineering students planning to pursue careers in hydrology, hydraulics, or geotechnical disciplines, or in other disciplines related to the design, construction and operation of dams are eligible for ASDSO undergraduate scholarships. Students must also be United States citizens in order to be eligible. Scholarships are awarded in amounts of up to $10,000. The annual application deadline is in March.
