What Type Of Bachelor'S Degrees Are There For Business

Colleges often expand on their existing business degrees as well as developing new ones.

For those interested in a career in business, there are many bachelor's degree programs to choose from in accounting, business administration, finance, eCommerce or eBusiness, human resources management, information technology, management, and marketing. There are many variations on these subjects, however, as well as lesser-known areas of study, and new degree programs are being established in colleges throughout the U.S.

Degree Choices

Both online and on-campus business programs can be found via online college directories, by entering the student's preferred area of study and location. The U.S. News & World Report University Directory, for example, lists the general business studies areas of accounting, business administration and management, business entertainment, communications, finance, economics, international business, human resources, marketing, management and project management. Specific programs within these broad areas can be located under each heading.

BA, BS and BSA Degrees

There are different types of business degrees, such as the Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Science (BS) degrees. BA degrees offer study in areas such as management, marketing, and accounting, among others. BS degrees deal more in technical or scientific areas, such as health services management, management information systems, accounting or economics. Kaplan University, for example, offers online BS and BSA (Bachelor of Science and Arts) degrees in accounting, business administration, auditing-forensic accountancy, and managerial accountancy. Other BS degrees include business process management, criminal justice and financial analysis.

BBA and BSBA Degrees

The BBA or BABA (Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration) and the BSBA (Bachelor of Science in Business Administration) are offered by many universities. Columbia Southern University's online business program, for example, offers BSBA degrees in human resource management, information technology, management, marketing and project management. For the BBA or BABA degree, online programs, such as those at Ashford University, offer degrees in business management, retail management and accounting.

Alternative Degrees

Some business degrees are very specialized, such as the BA of Organizational Management at Ashford University, which offers programs in accounting, applied behavioral science, foreign language studies, psychology and recreation, among other fields, as well as in business. Similarly, a BA in Social Science might concentrate on the area of economics or human resources management, and a BA in Public Relations and Marketing might cover the area of international management or project management.
