Virginia cosmetology schools prepare students for a growing field.
Cosmetology is the study of beauty with specialties including hairstyling, skin care, cosmetics and nail care. The U.S. Department of Labor projects that employment in cosmetology will grow from 9 percent to 17 percent between 2004 to 2014. Cosmetologists have to obtain state licenses to work in a salon or provide commercial services. Cosmetology schools in Virginia offer courses to prepare students for the licensing test and for employment as hairstylists, skin care technicians and manicurists.
