The Pharmacy College Admission Test (PCAT) is highly recommended for admission into a good college or university. The test is typically given four times a year in locations all over the country. The average cost is $125 in most areas. But it's the preparation costs that can add up.
Instructions
1. Shop online for preparation tests for the PCAT. Groups such as Kaplan.com and Harcourt.com have been around the longest and have the widest reputation.
2. Consider discount sites such as eBay and Barnes and Noble used book sites or other offers by professors and testing companies. Costs can range from $50 to hundreds once you start purchasing everything that is available.
3. Use a credit card on Internet sites to pay for both the preparation test and the PCAT test registration.
4. Students receiving parental financing should have their parent's credit card ready when using online services.
5. Hire a private tutor through Craigslist or through a local university. Many are willing to take payments for each lesson instead of the lump sum required for books and pre-tests.
6. Use the local library. Libraries are still free and offer books on loan. Since the PCAT test is given so infrequently, you will not want to lose time because of lack of funds by not being prepared for the test.
