Kaplan University is an online university that offers a wide array of programs in areas such as business, education, nursing, technology, health science, criminal justice, legal studies, and the arts and sciences. Kaplan University also offers degrees at several levels of study, including associate, bachelor's and master's degrees, as well as professional certificates. Kaplan University offers several scholarships to help its students manage the cost of their education.
Kaplan University Success Scholarship
As of 2011, the Kaplan University Success Scholarship is available to students in the amount of $200 per course taken per quarter, up to a total award of $3,000. To be eligible, a student must be applying as a first-time enrollee in a bachelor's program, must be a transfer student who has earned a minimum of 45 quarter-hours or 30 semester-hours at a different college or university, must have attended college in the past three years and must have a cumulative college GPA of at least 2.75. To maintain this scholarship, a student must keep their cumulative GPA above 2.5 and must maintain enrollment of at least two courses per term.
Kaplan University Accelerated Scholars Award
The Kaplan University Accelerated Scholars Award rewards students taking a higher-than-average course load by awarding a 25 percent discount off one five-credit or six-credit course per quarter. To be eligible, a student must have completed one term at Kaplan University, and must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. To remain eligible for the Kaplan University Accelerated Scholars Award, a student must be continuously enrolled for at least 15 credits per term, and must maintain a 3.0 GPA.
Academic Achievement Scholarships
Kaplan University awards two Academic Achievement Scholarships: the Academic Achievement Scholarship for Bachelor of Science in Nursing Students and the Academic Achievement Scholarship for Undergraduate Non-Nursing Students. Both are for transfer students, and both award a 20 percent discount for tuition. To be eligible for the nursing scholarship, a student must have earned an associate degree in nursing at another institution. To be eligible for the non-nursing scholarship, a student must have earned at least 25 quarter-credits at another institution. Both scholarships require that a student transfer with and maintain a GPA of at least 3.5. Kaplan University Achievement Scholarships cannot be used in conjunction with any other discount or scholarship.
Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship
Kaplan University makes the Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship available to transfer students who were members of Phi Kappa Theta at the institution they previously attended. This scholarship awards $200 per course taken per quarter, for a total not to exceed $3,000. To be eligible, a student must verify membership in Phi Theta Kappa, must maintain continuous enrollment for at least two classes per term, and must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better.
