For Men Wear Cardigans

Confidence is key. If you feel uncomfortable, you'll look uncomfortable.

Fashion and style have become increasingly important to men. But if you still feel a bit clueless about wear certain looks, you're not alone. A lot of men wonder pull wearing off certain clothing items and still come across as breezy and cool. One article of clothing that leaves men scratching their heads is the cardigan. Mr. Rogers wore one and looked old fashioned, whereas David Beckham and Zac Efron manage to pull it off. The truth is that a cardigan can become a cool staple in any man's wardrobe. You just have to learn wear it.

Instructions

1. Look at magazines and rip out pictures of cardigan looks that you like. Some of these range from the simple and easy-going to the downright eccentric. It's best to start off with a simple look and build from there. Once you feel comfortable sporting an easygoing style, you'll feel more confident when trying something new later down the line.

2. Examine your body type. Cardigans work best when showing off a slim or athletic physique, but if you've got a bit of a tummy a cardigan can help camouflage as well. Purchase light layers of clothing, the thicker the layer the thicker you'll look.

3. Purchase slim-fitting straight-leg jeans or boot-cut jeans that are dark, tailored and chic. Wear a plain T-shirt in white or in a bold color or even a graphic shirt for a canvas to build your look.

4. Check back at the magazine images. Pick the color and style of cardigan that you like best. It could be a simple black zip-up style or a dressier black wool with buttons. Whichever style you prefer, it will work with the jeans and T-shirt.

5. Slip the cardigan over the T-shirt. If the cardigan has buttons, button a few on top and leave the two bottom ones unfastened to add to the whole casual cool effect. Fastening all the buttons looks uptight.

6. Try other looks. Now that you have the casual look down, you can try different looks. Leave your blazer at home for formal dress and throw on a cardigan instead. It looks less stuffy than a suit jacket and it can match ties well.

7. Make it your own. Mix and match patterns with your cardigan and try different fabrics so no one will ever mistake you for Mr. Rogers.
