Lash Extension Training

Lash extension training is available via kits and DVDs, one-on-one courses and classroom situations. Location and supply cost vary depending on the lash brand and length of training. Some providers of eyelash extension training require that you are a State Board Licensed cosmetologist, licensed healthcare professional, or a student enrolled in school for a related field. Other providers have no such requirements.

Candidates

Unlike false lashes, lash extensions cannot be applied by the consumer.

Candidates for lash extension training are usually employed as estheticians, makeup artists and stylists. The application of eyelash extensions is a technical, somewhat tedious, and meticulous process. It requires a steady hand and good eyesight. The application of lash extensions takes a few hours, so you should be able to focus well and have no problems standing on your feet for extended periods of time.

Cost

Cost for lash extension training varies depending on the media, the supplier and the brand. For example, as of May 2011, Novalash lash extension training costs $585 for a one day certification course. Training for Xtreme lashes starts at $1,295 for a two day course. Another company, Glitznow, offers lash extension training for $449.

Significance

Lash extensions originated in Korea; today they're a global fad. Madonna, Oprah and Nicole Kidman have all been seen wearing lash extensions.
