Create Online Quizzes & Organize Results

Online quizzes are a frequent part of coursework for distance learning and hybrid classes. Mathematics teachers can also create online quizzes for students in traditional classes to supplement classroom teaching and aid with homework. There are many applications that can aid you in creating math quizzes, including MathXL, Mathzone, and Blackboard, one of the most widely used tools for creating quizzes and organizing results. This article will discuss Blackboard.

Instructions

1. Click the Control Panel link from the home page. The Control Panel link is located on the left hand sidebar, under Tools.

2. Click "Test Manager." You can find the Test Manager link in the Assessments box.

3. Click the "Add Test" icon.

4. Name your quiz and fill in the description and instructions. For example, you may create a "Welcome Quiz" for your class, describing that it covers material from a prerequisite class, and instructing the students to complete it in the first week. Press "Submit." You will automatically be routed to the Test Canvas.

5. In the Test Canvas, choose the type of question you wish to create from the drop down bar. Press go, then write your question and answer choices in the Question Text and Answer boxes. Press "Submit."

6. If you want to add another question, click the "Add Another Question Here" link.

7. Repeat Step 6 for as many questions as you want to put in your quiz. Press "OK." You have now created your quiz.

8. Add the quiz to a Content Area. From the Control Panel, click on one of the links in the Content Areas box. Click "Add Test," then select the quiz you have just created. Click the "Submit" button.

9. Make the test available. Click "Modify The Test Options." Press the "Yes" radio button next to "Make The Link Available."

10. Blackboard's Gradebook area will sort and organize the results automatically. From the Control Panel, click the "Gradebook" link to view grades. To change the way the information is viewed, change the "Sort Items By" or "Filter Items By Category" drop down bars.
