Sports Authority Sa Gear Power Tower Specs

The S.A. Gear 71 Power Tower is an in-home, multi-station exercise machine. You do various body weight exercises on the Power Tower, such as dips and pull-ups. The S.A. 71 is compact and can fit in the corner of your workout room, but it is limited in the number of exercises you can do on it.

Identification

The S.A. Power Tower consists of two vertical bars attached with two horizontal bars, one on the bottom of the unit and one on the top. The machine is angled so it fits into a corner. In the center of the vertical bars are two arm pads and a back pad. On the bottom back of the machine, two curved bars act as steps for you to hoist yourself up to the pull-up bar.

Specifications

The S.A. Gear 71 Power Tower is 63 inches tall, 22 inches wide and 6.5 inches deep. The device weighs 77 lbs. Black vinyl with silver accents covers the arm and back pads. At the end of the arm pads are two horizontal dipping bars and two vertical handlebars. The middle of the top bar curves for a more comfortable grip. The ends are covered with black handles for a wide grip option and two handles protrude from the bar, offering a neutral grip option.

Exercises

You can do several upper body strength exercises on the S.A. Gear 71 Power Tower. Use the dipping bars for dips that work your chest, triceps and shoulders. Support your body on your forearms with your back against the backrest and do hanging leg raises for abs. Grab the top bar to do either pull-ups or chin-ups, which work your back and biceps muscles. Try wide grip pull-ups, close grip pull-ups or neutral grip pull-ups.

Considerations

The S.A. Power Tower does not have any stations for lower body exercises; it is only for upper body workouts. All the movements you do on the Power Tower are body weight exercises. Once you can complete 15 to 20 repetitions with your body weight, you will need to use a weight belt to increase the resistance. Although the manufacturer does not list a user weight limit, since the machine only weighs 77 lbs., you may not want to add too much weight.
