Remove A Grill Cover Of A Fender Deluxe Reverb

An electric guitar requires an amplified speaker to be heard. To determine whether the speaker cone of the tube-based Fender Deluxe Reverb is out of position, remove the grill and inspect the cone's placement in the chassis. No specialized tools are needed.

Instructions

1. Wrap a strip of masking tape around the blade at the end of a flat-edged screwdriver. Wrap a second strip of masking tape around the blade. Smooth the tape down with your fingers.

2. Place bath towels on the floor. Place the Fender Reverb Deluxe face up on the towels with the Fender logo at the upper left.

3. Insert the blade of the screwdriver into the seam between the grill and the chassis on the left side, even with the logo. Push the screwdriver away from you while moving the blade up and down the seam. Repeat this procedure until you see the side of the grill begin to come loose from the chassis.

4. Insert the blade of the screwdriver into the seam on the right side, even with the logo. Repeat the procedure that was done on the left side.

5. Insert the blade of the screwdriver into the seam at the bottom left corner. Push the screwdriver away from you while moving the blade across to the right side. Run the blade back to the left side. Repeat this procedure until you see the grill begin to come loose from the chassis.

6. Insert the blade of the screwdriver into the seam at the top left corner, just below the amplifier input socket. Push the screwdriver away from you while moving it across to the other side. Run the blade back to the left side. Repeat this procedure until you see the grill begin to separate from the chassis.

7. Insert the blade of the screwdriver into the seam at the left side a 1/2 inch above the bottom left corner. Push the screwdriver away from you. Grip the bottom left edge of the grill. Pull the edge toward you as you move the blade up the seam to the top left corner.

8. Grip the left side of the grill. Insert the blade of the screwdriver into the seam at the top of the grill just below the power switch. Push the blade away from you while pulling the left side of the grill toward you. Continue to pull the grill toward you until it is perpendicular to you.

9. Insert the blade of the screwdriver into the right side of the grill even with the logo. Push the screwdriver away from you as you pull the grill off the chassis.

Tips Warnings

Blow off the speaker and the inside of the grill with bursts of compressed air from a compressed air spray can once the grill has been taken off.
