College Sat Requirements

High school seniors take the SAT to get into college.

High school seniors applying to college may be confused about where to start. Many colleges have special requirements, and it can be hard to figure out which college requires what. One of the basic requirements of nearly every private and public degree-granting university in the United States is the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). While most colleges do not have fixed requirements for the SAT, accepted students tend to score within a certain range on this test at particular institutions. An overview of admitted students' scores can help prospective applicants narrow down their choices.

Brown University

This prestigious Ivy League university, one of the oldest in the United States, has a reputation for being liberal, both academically and socially. Located in Providence, Rhode Island, Brown has no core requirements for its students, who are permitted to select their courses from a wide variety of offerings as long as they fulfill their "concentration," or major, requirements. In 2009, the average Brown student scored between 650 and 760 on the SAT Critical Reading, between 670 and 770 on the SAT Math and between 670 and 770 on the SAT Writing, for a combined score of 1990 to 2300.
