SAT and PSAT
There are so many standardized tests out there. For high school students, the most prominent are SAT and PSAT. The differences between these tests will be outlined in this article.
Instructions
1. Realize that SAT is the most important standardized test that counts toward college. PSAT does not count toward college and will not remain in your records.
2. Although PSAT does not count toward college, it is the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT). If you do well on it, you will qualify for this scholarship.
3. There are 7 test dates that you can choose from for SAT. There are only 2 test dates for PSAT. Also PSAT is only taken by Sophomores and Juniors. The NMSQT will only count for Juniors.
4. SAT consists of 10 section and almost 4 hours of just testing. PSAT will only consist of 5 sections and last for almost 3 hours. This is not including the sign in, instructions, breaks, etc.
5. SAT will contain an essay writing section while the PSAT will not contain an essay. However, other than that, the Critical Reading, Math, and Writing section will be identical.
6. You must take the SAT on a Saturday, but PSAT taking times and dates will vary depending on schools and locations.
