Prepare For The Mba Cet

Preparing for the MBA-CET can increase your chances of getting into a top business institute.

The Common Entrance Test (CET), controls many students' chance of admissions to India's top technical and professional programs. Each year, thousands of hopeful students sit the CET, trying to gain entry to a top Master's of Business Administration (MBA) program. The MBA-CET informs the admission standards of 299 colleges in Maharashtra, including the most prestigious business schools such as the Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies. Sitting any examination can be nerve-wracking, especially when the future of your career rests upon sufficient marks. Proper preparation can give you the cool head you need to make the cut.

Instructions

1. Practice on old tests. Speed and accuracy are very important in determining your score on the CET. Since the question pool is limited, familiarizing yourself with previously administered exams and sample questions increases your chances of recognizing the questions on the actual CET. See Resources for websites containing old CET papers and information about test coaching institutes.

2. Read news publications extensively so that you can discuss current affairs and common topics fluently during the group discussion (GD), and personal interview (PI), portions of the test. While the written exam accounts for the majority of your CET score, your GD and PI scores make between 14 and 15 percent of your total score. English language dailies such as the Times of India and the Economic Times, as well as foreign publications like BBC News and the Economist, have extensive coverage of current business and international relations news.

3. Arrive at your testing location early and well-rested. The Directorate of Technical Education, DTE, which administers the CET set up 238 testing centers in 2010. It further requires that students arrive a minimum of 30 minutes prior to exam time. Bring some scrap paper and a few spare pencils. Additionally, arriving early and well-rested reduces environmental anxiety, increasing your chances of performing at your maximum ability.
