State Of Alabama Free Tuition Program
The State of Alabama provides for free tuition program for senior citizens, defined as persons age 60 years and older. Eligibility depends on these senior citizens meeting the admission requirements and attending public, two-year post-secondary institutions in Alabama.
Kansas Higher Education Benefits For Senior Citizens
In Kansas, residents who are 60 or older are entitled to a fee waiver when they take courses at Emporia State University. Such courses, though, are not part of a degree program. Participants receive auditor status only. Additionally, participants require the permission of the instructor to audit the class. Participation as an auditor is also subject to availability of space. The University of Kansas waives both tuition and fees for Kansas citizens who are 60 years or older. Applicants complete and submit a Senior Citizen Rates Request Form available at the university's website. Proof of age is also a requirement. Courses are non-transferable to any other university for credit or towards any degree program. They receive a grade of "NE," meaning "Not Evaluated."
Simon Fraser University Certificate For Senior Citizens Program
Canada's Simon Fraser University has a Certificate for Senior Citizens Program. Participants in the program are eligible to apply for financial assistance if enrolled for fewer than nine units of credit courses for a single term, and are in good academic standing, with a 2.00 CGPA or higher. Financial awards exclude audited courses.
University of Illinois Tuition-Free Courses
The University of Illinois offers senior citizens aged 65 and older tuition-free status to enroll in regularly scheduled credit courses at public colleges or universities. Fees are still payable. This offer applies to senior citizens whose annual income is less than the threshold sum of the Senior Citizens and Disabled Persons Property Tax Relief and Pharmaceutical Assistance Act.
CHED Study Grant, The Philippines
In the Philippines, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) provides a Study Grant Program For Senior Citizens (CSGPSC). The program aims to encourage seniors 60 years and older to return to school. The grant enables financially needy seniors to pursue higher education and thereby contribute to nation-building in the longer term. The grant applies to selected state universities and colleges, and is for baccalaureate, graduate or certificate programs recognized by CHED. The grant covers tuition, fees and books. To proceed with the application, candidates need a high school report card, birth certificate or senior ID or valid passport, certificate of good health, certificate of good moral character and an acceptance letter from the college or university.
