Law students may give legal advice in certain circumstances.
Probate cases can be difficult and complex, requiring the help of a trained attorney to decipher. A cheaper alternative, in many cases, may be a law student. In some states, such as Idaho, third-year law students are given a limited license to practice law under the supervision of a licensed attorney. A good way to find one of these law students is to look for a school-sponsored legal clinic at a law school.
Instructions
1. Find an American Bar Association-approved law school near you. Law students may only look at cases while under the supervision of a licensed attorney, i.e. a professor.
2. Find out if the law school has a student clinic. Student clinics are designed to give second-year and above students hands-on experience dealing with legal matters.
3. Determine if your case qualifies. Most clinics allow members of the public to bring in cases, but some impose income restrictions or will only take cases of a certain type.
