Raise Sat Scores







The SAT is a standardized college entrance exam. The SAT is comprised of three sections: mathematics, critical reading and writing. When applying to colleges both your composite score and individual scores will be visible to the admissions boards. Some colleges will take the best scores of all three sections of all SAT attempts into account when reviewing your application. Therefore, it is in your best interest to improve your scores on all sections as much as possible and retake the SAT if you believe that there is room for improvement from your current SAT scores.








Instructions


1. Recognize your strengths and weaknesses by taking an SAT practice test or reviewing your scores from a previous SAT. You should put the most effort into raising the scores of areas in which you weak because you have the greatest room for improvement in these areas.


2. Review any concepts in which you find yourself struggling with. Though strategically guessing when answering questions can sometimes help you to correctly answer a question that you don't know the answer to, mastering the information that you will be tested on is best. For example, if you are weak in trigonometry, guessing on these questions will yield only minimal results. Therefore, you should brush up on your trigonometry skills to improve your mathematics SAT score.


3. Learn test taking strategies by reading SAT test taking books or attending an SAT preparation class. Some common strategies include reading the questions of the reading comprehension sections prior to reading the excerpt and using the process of elimination. Knowing best use these and other strategies can assist you in answering more questions correctly and improving your SAT score.


4. Take a monthly timed practice test when preparing for the SAT. Managing your time when taking the SAT can improve your scores by allowing you to answer the most questions that you know the answers to. Practicing time management with test taking will assist you in mastering this skill.
