Seminary students have a wide choice of study areas when pursuing a degree.
Seminaries are defined as specialized colleges where students can study theology and religion. Students who attend these colleges are looking to become ministers, priests or rabbis. To do so, they need to earn a specialized degree offered at the seminary school, and many degree options are available at various schools.
Bachelor's Degrees
Students earn a bachelor of arts or bachelor of science degree in a specific area. Seminary school majors include biblical studies, ministry, theology, Christian education, and biblical counseling.
Master's Degrees
Seminary students may also earn master's degrees. Some of the common majors in a master's program are biblical counseling, conflict management, Christian women's studies, Christian management and leadership, Christian philosophy and apologetics, pastoral ministry and Christian social work.
Doctorate Degrees
Different avenues are available for doctorate students. Doctorate degrees in ministry, theology, philosophy and education can be earned at some seminary schools. Majors within these programs may include biblical studies, counseling, conflict management, Christian management and leadership, and pastoral ministry.
Certificates
Students who do not wish to earn a degree or want to study different subjects can earn certificates in a variety of subjects. Some examples of the available subjects at seminary schools are the New Testament, theology, philosophy, Christian education, counseling, biblical studies, administration and expository preaching.
