A bachelor's degree is a college degree that traditionally takes four years to complete. Students attending college can choose to major in a specific subject that prepares them for the job market. Registered Nurse
Registered nurses care for patients in a wide variety of patient care settings. An RN may work in a hospital emergency ward, nursing home or elementary school. Registered nurses may attain employment upon completion of a two year degree at a community college. However many RN's also choose to complete a four degree in order to increase their income and advancement opportunities. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics the average RN can expect to earn a salary of roughly $55,000 per year.
High School Teachers
High school teachers teach subjects in secondary school. A high school teacher may work with students on understanding the cause of the American Revolution, explore the world of art or walk them through algebraic equations. Most schools will not hire teachers unless they have completed a bachelor's degree. Administrators prefer candidates who have taken classes in education in addition to majoring in a specific subject such as chemistry or biology. The average high school teacher can expect to earn an annual salary of $40,000 per year. Many also earn additional funds by working in the summer as well as tutoring children during after class hours.
Dieticians
Dieticians help people and institutions create, prepare and serve nutritious meals. A dietician may work with a hospital, nursing home or school. She may also work with private clients to help them learn to eat better. Dieticians attend college where they can major in food science, biology or another medical related field. A dietician may also take additional classes and earn specific certifications in renal disease or diabetic management once she has graduated from college. Pilot
Pilots fly planes. A pilot is in charge of ensuring that people get to their destination safely. Pilots are licensed by the state and must take a certain number of hours of training each year in order to maintain their license. Some pilots may be hired without a bachelor's degree. However many airlines are increasingly asking that candidates have a four year degree in this subject with a concentration in engineering. A commercial pilot can expect to earn a six figure salary if they work for a major airline.
