Scholarships For Southeastern University

Located in Lakeland, Florida, Southeastern University operates as a Christian liberal arts college with a student population of around 2,700 in 2010. Southeastern University offers undergraduate and graduate degrees and students can choose to earn their degree in a traditional classroom setting with day or evening classes or pursue a degree online. Students attending Southeastern University can apply for 36 different scholarships the school offers to its students.


Function


As of 2010, tuition costs at Southeastern University ranged from $5,900 a year to $8,500 a year, depending on the number of semester hours a student is enrolled. Types








Scholarships from Southeastern University come in a variety of types. Some scholarships are intended for students studying a specific major, like the broadcast scholarships for students interested in broadcast journalism, or the Baylis and Company CPA Scholarship for students pursuing a degree in accounting. Other scholarships go to a certain type of student such as the PK Scholarship Fund for children of an Assemblies of God minister or the Christ the King Assemblies of God Scholarship for students who are married and have children.


Eligibility


Each scholarship retains its own eligibility requirements. Many of the scholarships require students to maintain minimum grade point averages, like the Judie Greene Besso Scholarship that requires students to have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or the Jennifer Gordon Memorial Scholarship with a 3.0 minimum GPA requirement. Scholarships may also require a student to be in a certain grade, such as the Charles and Gwynneth Lee Scholarship for juniors or seniors. Other scholarships have very specific requirements like the Crossroads Scholarship for Hardee County home-schooled or private Christian school students.


Process








To apply for a scholarship from Southeastern University, students must submit the online application found at the Southeastern University website. Applicants must be current full-time students or have an application on file with the admissions office to apply. Students must also submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and the Southeastern University Student Information Sheet, both of which can also be accessed through the Southeastern University website. On the application, each student may apply for up to five scholarships.
