Academic Scholarships For High School Seniors

If you are a high school senior that has excelled in school you are eligible for many different academic scholarships. You can apply for more than one scholarship and receive as much award money as possible to help pay for your higher education. Different organizations offer scholarships for students who they think will make a difference in the world or in one particular field of study.


Key Club International








Key Club International offers a few different scholarships to high school seniors who are active members of the key club for at least two years. They must maintain a B or above average and be listed on the roster with Key Club International. A few of the scholarships offered through the Key Club are the David Hancock, Robert Thal and the Himmel scholarships. The David Hancock Scholarship awards $4000 in four increments throughout the year to two different individuals. The Robert Thal Scholarship awards one $1000 to one individual per year. The Himmel Scholarship give $500 to one individual per year, as of 2011. Adopt-a-Vet


Learning from those who have gone before us is the idea behind the Adopt-a-Vet Scholarship, a scholarship for high school students who have befriended a United States veteran. The student must write a 1500 word essay about that friendship. The scholarship offers a $5000 reward for the student as well as a reward for the school and the teacher, as of 2011. The application deadline is in October and you must submit your application and essay through email.


Dell Scholar's Program


Unlike some of the other scholarships, The Dell Scholar's Program offers funds to students based on their financial need. It is open to financially strapped high school seniors who maintain a GPA of at least 2.4 and who plan on attending an accredited college the fall following graduation. They offer 300 scholarships annually. Email your application and all necessary information by the November deadline.


American Foreign Service Association


The AFSA offers a $2500 scholarship as well as a trip to Washington D. C. Each year AFSA sponsors and essay contest. Check the website each year as the topic of the essay changes. The submission requirements are very specific as to how many copies you need to send as well as other items that you need to include. Essays can be mailed or emailed to be considered. To be eligible the parents of the student must not be in the US Foreign Service.
