Management schools in India continue to gain prominence every year. Some of the top schools are known globally and are recognized as world-class institutions, with their alumni gaining leadership roles in all spheres of business within India and outside. In rankings published annually by leading magazines and independent agencies, some of the same institutions routinely appear at the very top year after year.
Indian Institutes of Management
The Indian Institutes of Management routinely rank among the country's top MBA schools. "The IIMs remain the top B-schools in the country," says "The Hindu," a leading newspaper. "The education provided in most of the IIMs is world class." These institutions are centrally funded by the government of India, and IIMs today exist in Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Lucknow, Kozhikode, Indore and Shillong. According to India's Ministry of Human Resource development, "Six new IIMs are proposed to be set up in Jhakhand, Chhattisgarh, Uttrakhand, Jammu & Kashmir, Tamil Nadu and Haryana."

Indian School of Business
Hyderabad's Indian School of Business was ranked 12th globally in the "Financial Times" 2010 ranking of the world's best business schools. The school was established in 2001 and in addition to its regular MBA offerings, it also offers a "One Year Program." The school's website states that the program has been "designed keeping in mind the (executive's) eagerness to get back to the corporate world."

The XLRI School of Business and Human Resources
The Xavier Labour Relations Institute in Jamshedpur is well known by its acronym "XLRI". A total of around 1,200 students are admitted annually for two-year degree programs in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations (PMIR) and Business Management. XLRI also offers a one-year program in General Management.

Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi
Situated in two campuses in Delhi, the highly-rated Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) offers both full-time and part-time MBA degrees. FMS Delhi has been offering business administration degrees since 1954. There are only around 240 seats available each year and candidates have to take the FMS entrance test to gain admission.
