Grants for Unemployed Workers
Grants for unemployed workers fall under many categories. These include educational grants to help unemployed individuals update skills, and training to find gainful employment in federal agencies. Grants for unemployed also consist of training grants for displaced workers, i.e. workers who have lost their jobs because of outsourcing and globalization. These employment assistance grants also include providing free health insurance coverage and free community service.
Employment Assistance for Migrant and Seasonal Farmworkers
The federal government under section 17.264 with the authority of U.S. Department of Labor provides job training, leadership and community service workshops and job training to provide employment assistance to displaced migrant and seasonal farmhands and their families. Workforce Investment Act (WIA)
This grant is provided to all displaced, disadvantaged unemployed workers.This grant is given under the authority of U.S. Department of Labor. Individual unemployed workers are eligible to receive up to $4,000 in job training. The grant entitles them to receive unemployment compensation including other unemployment benefits from the state. Federal Pell Grants
These educational grants are issued to unemployed workers under the federal employment assistance program. Federal Pell grants are usually given to the children of unemployed workers, unemployed individuals who want to acquire higher education and skills for better employment training. The grant is offered for undergraduate studies up to 18 academic semesters. The grant does not have to be repaid. Its amount approximates to $3,350.
