It is common to fill out job applications for a number of different businesses right from your computer with an Internet connection. However, as you hunt for a job you may find that some locations still process applications the old fashioned way -- on regular paper. In this event, you have to make sure you fill out the common application in the proper way to make sure you have a chance at getting that job.
Instructions
1. Collect all the information you will need prior to going down to a location or business and filling out a job application. While some businesses will allow you to take an application home with you, others may not. Have your driver's license, the contact information for any references and any other pieces of information that may help you accurately and completely fill out a job application.
2. Write using the type of utensil specified on the job application. Certain applications may allow you to write in either pen or pencil. However, certain applications may specify that you need to use either a blue or black inked pen. If such a utensil is specified, be sure you have one on and and you use it.
3. Write legibly in pencil (if applicable) so that you can erase if you make mistakes. Crossing out mistakes made in pen will lead to a sloppy and unprofessional looking job application, which may be enough to cost you a job depending on the person reviewing the application. Take your time and write down everything neatly. Use a pencil with a high quality eraser so you can completely and accurately erase mistakes if they happen.
4. Go through your application and make sure you haven't missed any sections. Job applications can be multiple pages long so verify that pages haven't accidentally stuck together or that you haven't skipped a block of information. Fill out all portions of a job application to make sure the application is complete as possible. Go over all the information and verify that it is accurate and that you have made no mistakes before submitting.
