College Scholarships For Students Of Deaf Parents

Scholarships for students of deaf parents


A scholarship search will yield a great variety of awards given for nearly every type of student, institution and situation imaginable, such as several college scholarships available for students of deaf parents. Examples include the Millie Brother Scholarship, Through the Looking Glass College Scholarships, and scholarships given to children of disabled, including deaf, Air Force personnel provided through the Chief Master Sergeants of the Air Force Scholarship Program.


Millie Brother Scholarship


The Millie Brother Scholarship is awarded annually to hearing children of deaf adults to help them pursue their college education. The scholarship applies to undergraduate or graduate study, and two $3,000.00 scholarships are awarded annually. Applicants are required to be a hearing child of deaf parents. The scholarships are not renewable, but applicants can apply for the scholarship for as many years as they are in college.

Through the Looking Glass College Scholarships


Through the Looking Glass, an organization that brings new perspective to personal and family disability experiences, offers 10 $1,000 awards to enrolled college students, freshman through senior level and under the age of 21. To be eligible, the student must have at least one parent with a disability, such as a physical, visual, hearing or intellectual disability, including a parent who is suffering from a severe medical condition.

The Chief Master Sergeants of the Air Force Scholarship Program


The Chief Master Sergeants of the Air Force Scholarship Program is for dependent children of Air Force personnel who meet eligibility criteria. The applicant is given the opportunity to provide additional information that he believes should be taken into consideration by the selection committee. Examples of this type of information include student disabilities, a parent who has been a prisoner of war or was missing in action or killed in action, extreme financial hardship, and parent disabilities including deafness.
