Distance Education Law Schools

Now you can become a lawyer through distance education.

While becoming a lawyer is your main goal when attending law school, you may not have the time or funds to be a full-time student who attends lectures and sits in class all day. Perhaps you want to gain employment at a law firm to have some experience on your resume, or you may work full-time just to be able to pay for university. Whatever your case, there are some law schools that have distance-education options available for students who want to study law independently to earn their law degree.

Concord Law School

Accredited by the Accrediting Commission of the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC), Concord Law School is a fully approved degree-granting institution in the State of California by the Bureau of Private Post-secondary and Vocational Education, and offers two main law degrees that one can obtain through distance education. The law degrees offered at Concord include the Juris Doctor (JD) and Executive Juris Doctor (EJD). Concord Law School is also registered with the California Committee of Bar Examiners.

Champlain College

Accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Champlain College offers distance-education courses to obtain a master of science in law (MSL) program. The prime focus of this degree is to educate non-lawyer working professionals about law.

The prerequisite for the MSL program is a bachelor's degree at a college or university that has been accredited by any accrediting commission recognizable by the United States Department of Education.

Abraham Lincoln School of Law

Accredited by the DETC Accrediting Commission, Abraham Lincoln University graduates will be eligible to take the California Bar Examination upon completion of their coursework. Within as little as four years, a student can earn her Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree solely through distance-education study, which is comparable to earning the J.D. degree within three to four years in a traditional law school setting, where attending on-campus classes is compulsory.

As other law schools require, the prerequisite to candidates applying for this law degree program is to hold a successfully completed bachelor's degree at a college or university that has been accredited by any accrediting commission recognizable by the United States Department of Education.

California School of Law

The California School of Law offers a very unique way of obtaining a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree; through a virtual classroom that meets online every Tuesday and Thursday evening from 6:00pm--9:00pm. The students will be taking two courses per evening.

Applicants of the California School of Law may be accepted with an associate or bachelor's degree from any accredited American college or university. No LSAT is required, and students must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 to be eligible for admission.

Taft Law School

Taft Law School offers several law degree programs through distance education: Juris Doctor programs, Master of Law programs, and Bachelor's degree programs. Taft Law School is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of the Distance Education and Training Council.
