Write A Proposal For An Axia College Final

Writing Your Proposal

Your proposal is the starting point for a final project at Axia College. The purpose of a proposal is to ensure your project idea is viable and worth exploring. An academic proposal demonstrates exactly what you aim to find out by carrying out a project. If you haven't already been given a project title, choose a specific aspect of your subject to investigate further -- make sure you choose a topic you feel passionate about and can bring something new to. Start with a clear idea about the area you want to explore, briefly explaining what you want to achieve. Then, give a detailed overview of how you are going to carry out your project, as well as what kind of resources you think you will need.

Instructions

Preparation

1. Read over previous notes and chapters relating to topics you find interesting within your subject.

2. Choose a specific topic, considering a subject area that you think requires further investigation or has scope for further development.

3. Find out more about recent developments in your topic by looking at academic journals in the college library.

4. Think about the way other researchers have discussed this topic and consider how you can bring new research or development to the topic.

5. Break down your main idea into smaller questions that you can explore as part of your project research. Use a list of questions to give structure to your project outline.

6. Discuss your idea with a supervisor to see if it is viable before you start typing up your proposal.

Writing

7. Look over your notes and form a succinct, general title which gives the reader an indication of what your project is about.

8. Expand on your title by explaining exactly what you want to achieve, explore or find out. Use specific words to explain the problem you want to solve by carrying out this project. This will form the aim of your project.

9. Give some background by detailing why this topic interests you, and how it is important or relevant.

10. Give an outline of your methods, explaining how you will carry out the project in a concise, step-by-step manner.

11. Give details of any resources or funds that you will need and explain why you require these.
