Schools Of Performing Arts Located In Spain

Flamenco dancing is one of Spain's signature performance arts.

Spain has a rich cultural history, with long traditions in the performing arts. Although a small country compared to America, Spain has many schools and workshops that specialize in performance. Large universities in Spain, like the University of Barcelona, offer performing arts programs, but students of theater and dance often prefer to attend a school that specializes in the arts and focuses on little else. Although a majority of Spain's population does speak English, classes are typically held in Spanish. Before studying here, it's advisable to gain some understanding of the language.

Real Escuela Superior de Arte Dramático (RESAD)

Real Escuela Superior de Arte Dramático is Spain's oldest school of performing arts. The school offers three different four-year degree programs: stage direction and dramaturgy, acting and design. To be admitted, students must have a high-school degree or equivalent and pass an exam. Real Escuela Superior de Arte Dramático has two theaters, and students can expect to be part of a number of productions during their studies. Classes range from lighting to pantomime to puppet theater.
