Become A Teen Model In Phoenix Az

It takes more than a pretty face to become a model.

Modeling is a highly competitive industry, and it takes much more than a pretty face to become a successful teen model. Whether you are male or female, becoming a model before the age of 18 can be very difficult. Teens looking to get into modeling will need to work hard, educate themselves about the industry and find representation. However, if you are willing to put in the time and money, you may become a top model in your area.

Instructions

1. Get your parents' permission. Some clients or agencies will refuse to work with minors who do not have their parents' signed permission to work as a model.

2. Maintain your weight. Whether you are waif-thin or plus-sized, you need to maintain the weight you are at in order to meet your client's expectations.

3. Hire a headshot photographer. A photographer can take numerous pictures that you can use in your look book. A variety of headhsots and full body images should be included. Phoenix-area photographers that specialize in these photos include Jon Simpson Photography and Phoenix Headshots, run by head photographer Scott Schauer (see Resource section).

4. Build your resume. You may want to attend modeling classes at Barbizon Southwest Modeling and Talent Agency, or volunteer as a model for art or photography students at schools like Phoenix College or Arizona State University.

5. Build a website/online portfolio. Arizona-based model Amy Barraco's website (see Reference section) helps her to build her reputation as a serious model and network with other industry professionals.

6. Audition for a modeling agency contract. Modeling agencies in the Phoenix area include The Agency, Dani's Agency and The Young Agency. Some of these agencies (including The Young Agency) hold weekly open casting calls, while others see new talent by appointment only. You will need to interview, present a headshot and resume, showcase your walk or undergo a screen test, and provide access to your look book or information to access your online portfolio. You can find contact information for these agencies in the Resource section.

7. Look for additional casting calls for models using Phoenix's Craigslist website, as well as the website Backpage. Use caution when responding to ads, and always bring a chaperone or parent with you to a casting call for your protection.
