Butte College in Oroville, California provides career and technical education. Programs at Butte College are designed to end in a bachelor's degree, but also designed to make students ready for employment should they choose to end their academic career early. Butte College offers a myriad of professional training programs including automotive, welding, health occupations, business education and human services. The unique "Journeyman to Foreman" program allows professionals working in the construction field to get the training they need to move to the next level in a short five-week course. The program costs $300 as of April 2010.

Pacific Technical College
Pacific Technical College in San Mateo offers career training in two fields--health care and green technology. The health care program allows students to pursue a career in medical office administration, medical assisting and pharmacy technology. The green technology program trains students in different levels of the solar power industry from installation and design to marketing and sales. Pacific Technology College hosts a career placement service to help students get into the industry of their choice. The Pacific Technology College jobs board showcases jobs from the San Francisco Bay area. The career center also attempts to find placement for students as well as helping them with resumes, cover letters and interviewing skills.

City College of San Francisco
City College of San Francisco offers a wide variety of vocational training options to students in the San Francisco Bay area. Business classes are available only through distance learning, while the remainder of classes are offered at the Modesto campus.
