Legal pleadings may be created in Microsoft Word.
Although WordPerfect has been the standard in law offices for many years, more and more firms are using Microsoft Word to create their pleadings. Once extremely difficult to set up, the newest versions of Word now have this functionality built in.
Create Your Document
Open Microsoft Word and go to "File," then "New." In the New Documents task pane, click "On My Computer," then click the "Legal Pleadings" tab.
Legal Pleadings Wizard
The legal pleadings wizard will launch once you have created your document. Follow the prompts to choose your document options. When you are done, a second wizard will launch; follow the prompts and enter the information for your case.
Troubleshooting
More templates may be downloaded from Microsoft. If you don't see the Pleadings tab when you start a new document, you may need to install the pleadings wizard. Wizards and templates can be downloaded from the Microsoft Office website.
