A briefing paper should be a short, succinct and persuasive document written on one to two pages. The primary goal is to identify the problem or issue and recommend a solution or course of action. The information should be well written, informative and reliable and accurate.
Instructions
1. Convince the audience that the issue or topic is important and needs careful consideration. State the issue in clear and unambiguous language. Identify a solution or course of action for the specific problem under consideration.
2. Provide the background and context of the problem. Let the audience know how the problem arose. Carefully point out the essential factors that contributed to the situation.
3. Describe the current status of the problem in section two. Let the audience know how things currently stand and provide a timetable and guideline for the appropriate decision or course of action.
4. Outline a solution and course of action. Make a persuasive case for the particular solution Discuss the feasibility of the solution and the consequences for failing to implement the solution. Discuss how the solution will be implemented and any possible possible obstacles.
