Prepare For An Mba Admissions Interview

The interview panel will consist of faculty members, alumni and current students.

The MBA, or Master of Business Administration, is a postgraduate qualification in business studies. As the MBA is recognized worldwide and develops the necessary skills for business management, it is a popular choice for many graduates. No matter where you study for the MBA, an interview is often a standard part of the admission process. As you only get one shot at the interview, it is crucial that you get it right first time.

Instructions

1. Confirm your interview. Once you have received your invitation to interview, call or write to the university and confirm your attendance. If you need travel directions to the interview location, now is the time to ask for them.

2. Research the university. You will be asked why you want to study for the MBA at this particular university, so you need to adequately prepare an answer. Find out about their research and teaching facilities, well-known faculty members, internship opportunities and any other attractive features.

3. Showcase your achievements. You will need to convince the interview panel that you are the right candidate for the MBA course. Prepare specific examples of your academic achievements and relevant experiences to discuss at the interview. Also be prepared for questions about your career aspirations.

4. Prepare a resume. You will need to have this at the interview or may also need to send a copy in advance. Make sure it's up-to-date and check for any spelling or grammatical errors.

5. Make the right impression. Ensure you arrive for the interview early and are suitably dressed in business attire. Listen carefully to each question and keep your answers concise and informative.

6. Follow up appropriately. Send a thank you note to the interview panel via email or letter. This demonstrates your knowledge of appropriate behavior in the business world and will make the panel more likely to remember you.
