Take The Pennsylvania Bar Exam

Registering for the bar exam is a simple process.








The Pennsylvania Bar Examination is given twice a year for graduating law students to take to begin practicing law. The exam is always held on the last Tuesdays and Wednesdays in February and July. The exam costs $500 for new applicants and $250 for reapplicants (as of August 2011). You can register online to take the test through the Pennsylvania Board of Law Examiners' website.


Instructions


1. Log onto the PA Board of Law Examiners web portal. Create a new account by clicking the link underneath the "Log In" button on the page.


2. Provide your email address and a password which will be used to log in to your account when you register for the exam. A pin number will be sent to your email address; use this pin to log into the site.


3. Use your email address, password and pin number to log in and create a new account. Enter your name, email address, phone number and password on the screen. Click the "Submit" button to process your application.


4. Enter your last name, date of birth and social security number on the next screen. Click the "Search" button to proceed to the next screen.


5. Select the bar exam you need to take. Click the "Continue" button and answer the questions necessary to complete the bar exam application.


6. Pay the necessary fees for your exam. Study for your bar exam using the online resources on the PA Board of Law Examiners' website.


7. Report to the testing center you chose on the day of your exam. Show up at least 30 minutes early to prevent any testing problems or to take care of any issues. Bring all your application materials and photo identification.


8. Answer each question to the best of your ability. Take your time and read each question thoroughly, considering all the possible responses before answering. Results for the exam are usually available about two months after the testing date.
